I knew there would very little continuity when the SBC added schools to make a River division.

To summarize what we already know: the River schools are fearful of the 8-man situation. Danbury made the move. SMCC is inevitable, just not official and SJCC is likely a 1-2 year away. At the same time, the smaller schools in the NBC are looking to break free from that conference. What's new? There seems to be some steam with a "new league" (small schools) while the SBC is looking to expand to solidify the River (and conference all together). It will be a race to who can arrange the pieces to best make it work the fastest. 1. SBC with some agreement with the NBC for crossovers (as a whole plus Northwood) or 2. if the new league gets its legs and the NBC successfully plucks Oak Harbor (along with a non-SBC school). Should be fun! this isn't really that new of information

Maumee is begging to join the NBC.

Maumee is begging to join the NBC. Maumee is an interesting case because they can not grow. Unlike Perrysburg and Anthony Wayne, Maumee is boxed in and has no more room for development. Because of this long term trend they will definitely be a front runner for an open spot despite their current size

The word is the NBC will not take Maumee know matter what. The NBC said they will stay with 6 teams and never take Maumee. Even with no where to grow their still 100 boys bigger then NBC schools or more.

Several NBC AD's and Principals have said that Maumee is "too big" and will "never" be a candidate for the NBC. I brought up the point that Maumee's football and boys and girls basketball would currently get their ***** kicked in the NBC. I was told that this is "now" and the NBC is worried about a future Maumee in an "up cycle" dominating the NBC. As a Maumee fan, I have been waiting for this "up cycle" in basketball since 1995. With that being said, I can see the NBC adding Oak Harbor and maybe Hopewell-Loudon.

Numbers haven’t changed drastically. Maumee is still too big for NBC and despite landlocked won’t shrink that much, just won’t grow. Additionally H-L and Gburg aren’t good candidates. These 2 would fit number wise and/or competitively with Woodmore and Elmwood NOT replacing them. 5 old SLL, the unwanted smalls, need to rise up and create a new version. Geography and family rivalry renewed are the positives. Finding 3 more that fit may be a challenge.

anything new on this front? Not much from what I understand. SBC is looking outside the box with a couple creative ideas to stay ahead of the next round of changes. Trying to meet with those schools/conferences (NBC, BG, Maumee, Northwood) in coming weeks. Not sure it will come to fruition but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Maumee fans and SBC Lake fans should ignore the travel.... I'm fine with Panthers joining. However, in fine with half of OCC and Ross joining as well.

SBC seems like the only league that actually wants to take action to avoid future problems. Other leagues and schools would rather just avoid change and hope things work out for the best, which is why we rarely see any movement.

There are meetings and discussions among administrators constantly. Leagues and schools are attempting to stay ahead of the next storm. Nobody feels secure and many leagues have plans while not chasing current members away. As the SBC explores others have their plans, wish lists and even pacts among some to stay together as long as possible. AD’s, superintendents and principals are not as lazy and stupid as some may think😀

Heard that talks are happening for sure with BG and Maumee for the Lake division. We’ll see what comes of that.

Ontario isn't in the SBC. Ontario to Sandusky is why Ontario didn't join the SBC. Norwalk to Ontario is 40 miles. Norwalk to Maumee is 68 miles. Norwalk and Ontario play each other in football and basketball. Norwalk currently doesn't play anyone 68 miles away from them. The farthest Lake Division trip for Norwalk is Tiffin.

How is Norwalk to Maumee 68 miles when Norwalk to Toledo is roughly 60?
