Did half of RV's team miss the bus to Ontario? RIver Valkeys schedule was easy the first two weeks. Ontario was the first good team RV faced. Harding led Shelby at halftime by 9 but the Whippets dominated the second half. Harding will play the top teams close

Did half of RV's team miss the bus to Ontario? Their record was misleading as they played 3 weak teams and needed a refs to give them a 4th win.

This was BY FAR the best defense and rebounding effort by Ontario, this year. The results was holding River Valley to 10 points at halftime. Balogh got his players attention since the loss at Lex last Saturday. They played more like a team of his you've come to expect to see. More fouls than usual, but that happens when a team is learning to play a more physical defense and attacking the boards. You take a player out of the starting lineup, not only does that player get the message, but the entire team sees that Joe is serious.
I was looking forward to seeing the player that made the big shot to "win" the game against Clear Fork. I was surprised to see he wasn't a starter. I think he only took one shot tonight, close to the basket and it went over the backboard. His big play of this game cost RV 5 points. A 3-pointer was made by RV as the halftime buzzer sounded. EXCEPT, just before the shot went into the basket, said player hung on the rim. After a huddle by the officials, the basket was waved off and a Technical was assessed for hanging on the rim. Ontario player shot and made 2 free throws.
Ontario won the JV game 59-44 and Freshman game 55-50.

Basket interference was correct, but hanging on the rim was horrible call

Basket interference was correct, but hanging on the rim was horrible call He pulled the rim down and wasn’t even the shooter.

Basket interference was correct, but hanging on the rim was horrible call The rule says on a dunk, the player can hang on the rim to avoid injury. I have no idea what the player was doing on this play, but he was not dunking.

Henderson had started all season prior, not sure why he didn’t against Ontario. Raw talent but he can be good. He’s not a shooter or any sorts. RV’s best player is Ethan Bell, he can go.
On other notes, Harding erased Pugh and stayed in that one, he scored 13 but 11 from the line I think. Harding has a real good defender in Demarco Brown, best defender I have seen this year. Offense struggles, coaching isn’t the best anymore.

Not a great angle, but I’d give him basket interference and take away the three. A boy that big makes any contact with the rim and it’s going to move. T’ing him up and giving the opposition free throws and the ball...not so sure. Was it a boneheaded move? Sure. I’m having a hard time watching high school basketball at this point with the current state of officiating.

I’m having a hard time watching high school basketball at this point with the current state of officiating. Ontario didn't "get the ball". As the ball went in, the buzzer sounded. Technical free throws, for pulling down on the rim when not dunking, were shot with players in their locker rooms.

Again this play had no impact on the game result. It was already over with Ontario up by 20.

Ontario-52 Orrville-46 Final Without Mott and Shaver Ontario was down 30 before game started. Then Kurtz, Ontario's #2 scorer who had 13 in the first half, got in foul trouble and scored 0 in the 2nd half playing very little. But...Orrville is offensive challenged outside of guard Marquel Parks. Shaq Coburn would have to step up in Shaver's absence and did. Playing PG instead of off guard most of the game and not coming off the floor much. He led Ontario in scoring and was voted most valuable player for the game. Soph Amil Upchurch played well in Shaver's absence also, scoring in double figures. Ontario never trailed, leading by as many as 10. Shaver was missed the most in the 4th quarter when Orrville pressed. Rebounding was again a problem for Ontario in this game, even though they were the taller team.
