I think the team that's going to surprise (somewhat) everyone is Ontario. I think Shaver is the best player in that area. Depending on the seeding, I'll go with Upper, Huron, Shelby, Ontario in the District semis with Ontario and Upper in the finals with Ontario winning. This seems plausible until you dig inside the numbers related to what ur saying...Ontario a D2 district champion... Oh well the Patriots didn’t advance to the Super bowl so...

This is probably as wide open as any tourney in recent memory. No clearly superior or dominant team. Think ontario is a strong contender. Not convinced on upper because of weak schedule. Shelby lacks consistent outside scoring and have not dominated anyone all year. Senior high is deceptive and is a sleeper. If had to choose I'd say ontario will survive. Really looking forward to this tourney. Should be a good one

Lex just played Sandusky about as close as anyone has this year. No coach is crazy about going against Steve Gray/Norwalk in the tournament, where defense is so important. If Senior can turn you over and run out for layups, they can beat anyone. Beat their press and they're offensively challenged.

Sandusky let off and got sloppy up 20 and Lex kept their foot on the gas. Well coached team. They got it down to 7 before Sandusky pushed it back out.

Not "letting off" if a three pointer is jacked up at the buzzer.

Not "letting off" if a three pointer is jacked up at the buzzer. You clearly misunderstood what “letting off” meant. Sandusky got sloppy and lazy in the 4th. The 3 pointer was taken by Tahj to try and break the single game record. No harm in that.

Games at this tempo usually can have both and this one did.

Ontario and Shelby can be both be exposed by a dominant post player. I have not seen Huron. Are they balanced or outside or inside dominated?

Yes Huron can go inside or outside. pair of 6'4 kids who can play all 5 spots on the floor. but they go through some lows during games. which is concerning. and could use more depth. Consistency seems to be a common problem with all the D-2 in this district.. .. they play good defense.. very good help side.

"Letting off" in this sport, to most, means something done by design or players not playing with the same intensity. The most respected coaches would consider that "harm"

After last week's games not much changed in the order. Huron picked up a huge win by defeating St. Paul on Saturday, if things go their way Huron could be the #2 seed. Shelby has a tough game tomorrow with Willard.

Shelby has a tough game tomorrow with Willard. Some may not see a victory over a D4 team as a "huge win". Specially when other teams have already accomplished the same. But it is possible for them to end up #2 if other teams lose more than they do in the next 2 weeks.

Shelby and Upper play tomorrow night so this could create a little more separation at the top. Totally agree that you cannot discount Senior with the athletes they will put on the floor every night. I have seen Norwalk and Ontario and would agree losing Mott will hurt the Warriors but it’s still a long season with opportunities for other weapons to develop as the season rolls into the new year. As is always the case, this has to be one of the toughest districts in the state. Going to be fun again! This may be as WEAK this district has been in a decade. The likely #1 seed has not won a District title since Diebs... as for the second best team it is likely to be a perennial D3 team in Huron. The rest are so so... This district from 2005-2015 produced several STATE level teams including 2 STATE champs (Upper, Norwalk) a couple of runner ups (Upper, PC) and several other fine teams (Lex, Perkins, Sandusky, Ontario, Willard).

The top of this district starting to become clear... 1) Upper will playing sisters of the poor hurt them in the tournament time will tell. 2) Huron should end up #2 time will tell can they put together games to get out??? 3) Shelby a decent team playing a weak schedule and wins over Norwalk, Ontario (2) should get them there 4) Lex seems to be playing better and playing good teams should make them better 5-6) Norwalk-Ontario tossup however tonight tilts scales heavily towards the Truckers both due to coaching could be dangerous

Some coaches do prefer to play over taking a bye so it could lead to some good games but I have seen most of these teams and I doubt Lex will be the favorite here.

"Insight"
Don't know, but it looked like Norwalk might have set a FG made % record.
Gehlhausen(sp) might have had a career night, 23 points on 6 of 6 3-pointers made. He looked like the best PG in North Central Ohio not named Tahj.
Norwalk's 3 pointers were falling, Ontario's weren't. Shaver had 0 points at halftime.
Ontario's 150-160# inside players were no match for Norwalk's 200#+ players. They had their way scoring on the block and rebounding. Last year Ontario had 3 200#+ players to match up, they all graduated. I knew that was going to be an issue for Ontario this year against teams like Lex and Norwalk.
Norwalk's defense much more physical than Ontario's
I think Steve likes to coach this team way more than last year's. Last year's games were simple. When Norwalk needed a basket, it was clear out and let Harraway go to work. This year Steve calls a set play every trip down the court and the team executes them very well. It appears Norwalk football players have rounded into basketball form.
How in the heck did South Central beat Norwalk by 17??
Forgot to mention. You knew things were going well for Norwalk and bad for Ontario when the Norwalk post banked a 16 footer in from the wing.

Plus I think Norwalk’s coach admitted that he screws up by trying to trap Blaire. That game got away from Norwalk in The second half.
