I’m hearing rumors of old Ziggy stepping down at Perkins today. Can anyone confirm or have my sources hit the sauce early?

I might as well put my name in there, bring back the wing-t, 4-3 defense and those penn state like jerseys!!!

if he did step down, who would be candidates you think would apply.
numbers are down across the program which may scare some away.

The job is a great one to have. There however is one problem. A problem that has plagued Perkins and that is general consistency.
The up side is the talent already going out, thinking about going out and the talent walking the halls that isn’t going out. Perkins has never been short on talent and we have seen that through the years. Getting it to play and play well is another thing.
Working in Sandusky and talking to a lot of kids, I’ve found out that some kids don’t go out or play sports after a certain period because of practice and the hard work they have to put into it. Everyone wants to be glamorous and a stud, but few want to put in the time needed.
This generation seems to be only willing to do so much until it’s just not worth it to them.
I would personally like to see some young blood come in and revamp the program maybe try something new. Inspire the kids and take them under their wing. I’ve found through coaching and my own experience when you have someone who can be a coach, mentor, and inspiration you get a different level of commitment.

Has anyone heard of possible applicants or interested coaches in the area? I feel like it could be a well desired job based off of the possible talent pool Perkins provides. I have heard some rumblings about the young Santoro kid from Bellevue being a possible option. That would be interesting with his young age and lack of hc experience. Could be what the program needs after the long run with Zig.

Do you think Ziegler resigned on his own or under pressure? The reason I ask is I heard tonight at Ross game that he applied for the Gibsonburg job and he is one of three interviewing next Wednesday. That a surprise to me that he would want to go to a smaller school with low numbers.

He then went to D7 Lucas and was in the State Finals.

Just happen to be new to the forum.

No way, He likes being retired. I could be wrong, but bleeding red and gray and having an H stamped to your chest could be a factor as well. Again, I could be proven incorrect.

Dirka,
I’m only 32, but you don’t have to be old to see what you see and hear what you hear.

well the posting is closed, I would be curious to know who applied, but I doubt the register writes an article about it with the list of the applicants like some papers do.

I know Legando will always have a place in his heart for Huron, but he also loves mentoring young people. Plus, Perkins and Huron being in different divisions could factor in. And besides, hasn’t he been bleeding blue and gold the last few years as the OC for SMCC?

Legs won't coach at Perkins. no way in hell does he want to bump heads with Huron. He has a love for the Tigers and he wouldn't compete against them. SMCC never played Huron easier to do. why not Obergfell ?

I'd say its a fairly important hire for them, would be nice to see them get back on track. I also saw in the article that Zeigler mentioned he had other possible opportunities, will be interesting to see if he ends up as an Assistant at a local school or would he apply for any HC jobs? Anyway, good luck to Perkins on this, will be interesting to see how it shakes out with the lack on info out there.
