Anyone have an actual list of candidates who applied?
Surprised Santoro would leave Bellevue, being a grad and all.
Mora seems like a logical choice if he has the best experience of the applicants, this hire might loom large for Perkins. Gotta get numbers back up and enthusiasm in the program again, along with some discipline. Too many penalties the last few years.

Mora did not interview. I heard they are high on another guy that did coach at Danbury though.

They ended up having to offer the position to their #4 choice. The other three passed. Not sure if he’s accepted but if he does the challenges will be rather large due to the lack of experience and cultural issues alone.

Jalen new head coach I heard. Very surprised at Perkins decision with such a greeeeeen coach. I would guess he will be looking for a new "teaching" job in Perkins!?!?

Rumor out of Bellevue is that four Redmen assistants are going with Santoro.

I don't believe Perkins has any teaching jobs available. Could be a little awkward teaching at one and coaching the other

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Santoro stay at Perkins for a couple of years just to get head coaching experience then go back to Bellevue and take over when Nasonti retires. Not ideal for Perkins but from what I hear they didn’t have a lot to choose from.

Rumor out of Bellevue is that four Redmen assistants are going with Santoro. I heard the same thing. Three are young and inexperienced like Santoro and coach the freshman on down. The other one in my eyes is no big lose but will have to be replaced. Not sure I understand Perkins decision other than hoping to shake things up with a young group and hope they stay long enough and turn the program around!?!?

Unless Santoro is the messiah and this is the second coming for Perkins, does this hire have any demonstrable impact on the program? Looking for some perspective from Perkins people

I'm thinking they are hoping that the young Santoro will turn things around with his enthusiasm and his ability to get kids to buy into the program and implement things that have worked at the college level and things that have worked at Bellevue.

Santork spent four years playing college football. I would assume he’s more than ready to take on a program. Young, energetic and knows the game. Might be the spark they need.

Keep in mind playing and being able to run a program are two totally different things. Some kids are great at the game and understand it but coaching is a totally different part of the ball game. Time will tell.

I can appreciate new energy, but I don’t see all the energy in the world making their schedule any easier.

Appreciate the energy as well but this has disaster written all over it (on and off the field). Kids leading kids. They don't know what they don't know. A big whiff for the Pirates hiring committee but having to settle for at least #4 on their list put Perkins in this situation, even after opening the posting back up.

A big whiff for the Pirates hiring committee but having to settle for at least #4 on their list put Perkins in this situation, even after opening the posting back up. this is some of what I have heard from some Perkins people as well. I reached out to some people I know in both communities. I feel like I can summarize what the feeling is, it seems as if Perkins jumped the gun, didn't get who they wanted but went all in on a new coach and settled. It does seem to have disaster written all over it but you never know either. I just don't see a quick turnaround or even a turnaround at all, would need a veteran proven HC on staff to help him with the learning process, and I don't see that happening.
