Ontario's #2 scorer Kolten Kurtz was out with the flu and Shaq Colburn stepped up to lead in scoring with 19. All played hard to get a good lead so Mott could play at the end. He's having surgery on Thursday. Chance's injury hurt this year, but has helped for the future as a trio of 6-4 underclassmen have gotten more playing time.
Ontario JV's win 46-38.

Watched some of Bellevue-Ontario game last night. Warriors started slow, then showed Redmen the shed pretty much at the end.
It's a shame what Redmen Basketball has become. An area power in 80s and 90s, and also high in all-time wins in Ohio Basketball History.

Their slide has not happened over night but without knowing how the lower levels are doing, we can hope they recover a little soon. For Ontario, how many D2 schools can say they have to play 3 games in a week and the toughest game is a D4 team. Good Schedule.

Once of the 5 was moved up to varsity for this game and started.

Lucas has a nice team. By far their best player is Riley Gossom. Their only non football player. All have their roles and play within themselves. Their problem is they have no bench. They were really dragging late in the 2nd and 4th. In the tournament they'll eventually run into a team that has 7-8 quality players that rotate. Ontario had their chances to win, but missed free throws late sealed their fate. Shaver had a decent look at a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Dead on but it came up short. Probably the biggest crowd in the O'rena since the Norwalk game in 2014.
Ontario also won the Freshman game 44-30.

Lucas-53 Ontario-50 Final Ontario takes the JV 62-33 I have to admit this surprised me. Once again the Ontario custodian announcing the game was hilarious to listen to. At least they had one announcer with basketball knowledge.

Did anyone predict Lucas to make a long post season run? I don't know of anyone who predicted them to be 12-0 at this point.

What I’m saying is teams in Columbus are generally decent basketball players who play disciplined basketball. The exception, sometimes, is D1 or a lower division private school that has 3-4 college level players.

I'm not saying your are wrong, but what I was wondering is how does this connect to the Lucas team?

Is anyone other than you talking about Lucas with references to playing in the State Tournament? My post was made in a discussion of their depth or someone's feeling that they did not have any because a limited number of players played in a single game. I do not feel Lucas is playing at a high enough level to make a run at Columbus but things can change. Good win for the Cubs over a D2 team though.

I’m going to chalk this up to playing the telephone game. We are not communicating well. You said Lucas’s strength is their team play. I was GENERALLY stating that that is more important than individual talent by saying that’s the case for most teams who make it to Columbus. I was not SPECIFICALLY saying Lucas was good enough to make it that far.

Although solid team play is seen by those that reach Columbus, most of them do have at least one or more outstanding regionally known players that carry the team during the regular season.
