Big game tonight for obvious reasons. The Tigers must still be feeling the let down from the Oak Harbor game, in which I thought they played 24 minutes of their best basketball followed by 8 minutes of their worst. I expect Bobby to have these boys motivated and ready to play.
I think the Tigers play together much better than Willard, moving the ball, playing help D, etc. I also think the Tigers are more athletic and should be able to get out in transition. The key for this game is going to be the Tigers ancillary pieces and if they can knock down shots. You can expect Wennes/Ritzler/Griswald to stay consistent and have good games. The role players will need to rise to the occasion and grow a pair in this game.
I would love to see the Tigers employ their patented 1-3-1 press and create some easy baskets. I don’t think Willard has great ball handlers.
The big question in this one, can the Tigers finish? Bobby has had some issues closing games in which they have had the lead. I hope they have a good game plan for the 4th quarter.
I look for the Tigers to win 60-52, Wennes will have 26-14, Griswald knocks down 3+ threes, and Ritzler has 10 assists. I also expect Willard fans to already be formulating excuses for why they lost.
Go Tigers

28-15 halftime WHS Huron is meh. Shelby was much better. "So and so has a perfect game after 8 Innings." "So and so is perfect at the foul line" right before next foul shot is attempted. We know what happens next.

Maybe we did not see Huron's A game. I was expecting a better looking team. Although Willard was sharp for 3/4 of the game. and hit most of the Ft's it seemed. A little sloppy with some passes but we did more than enough to win convincingly. Lead never got under 10 in the 2nd half.

Willard had some trouble at the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th with Huron’s half court trapping, quite a few turnovers. But made their free throws down the stretch to seal the game.

Huron picked a bad night to be the worst they've been all year. However, Willard's defense may have had something to do with that. The Flashes won this game at the foul line, And with a little help getting there. They were trying to let the Tigers back in it, By stalling way too early in the 3rd qtr., By turning it over on Huron's trapping defense, Should've kept their foot on gas. I noticed walking to the gym, Willard's bus driver had the bus turned off, Saving the district money. Way too cold to shut the bus off, Needed to let it idle to keep the diesel fuel from freezing up, Would be a bad thing to be stranded with a gelled up bus, Full of students. Hopefully, they made it home.

Having two bigs like Ritzler and Wennes who are athletic make that a damn tough defense. Flashes need to work on that ASAP. Other than that, a solid win for the Flashes. Seniors stepped up and played like they should in a game like this, kudos to both of them. Myles continues to play well.

I agree, watching online i didn’t feel like willard was stalling, they were up around 15 at that time and didn’t really need to attack too much. When I first saw Huron in that half court zone I was actually surprised since they were down so much but it worked for a while as Willard turned it over a few times and Huron actually got it closer.

Thanks to buckeyekid who gave me the live feed link, being able to watch the game with a cold one in front of the fireplace was nice.I thought Willard got a little sloppy when they tried to slow it down but that is typical when you are up big and don't have 4-5 great ball handlers. The coaches seemed to know when things got a little too close for comfort and stepped back on the gas just long enough to stay comfortable. Good strategy for this point in the season.I think had the game been closer earlier Willard would have played with a little quicker tempo.Willard has a chance to get their legs under them in the next couple weeks before things will start to get tougher. When a team isn't super deep they will need to be "rested" so to speak. This was a unexpected breather.
