This is very very obscure, but I think it is interesting.
In the "East" district in the Athens Regional for DIV, there are 16 schools. It appears they seed their tournament games similar to how we do it in the northwest. Bishop Rosecrans is seeded #1 in the District, and Hiland is #2.
If they do seed their tournament brackets the same as the northwest district, then you'd find that Hiland went straight after Rosecrans so that they would face in the sectional finals on Friday night. I know nobody knows anything about these schools, but I want to know the thinking behind Hiland's decision beyond the fact that they are an annual small school power in Ohio.
Not that we care much here, but Rosecrans and Hiland are ranked #6 and #8, respectively, in the DIV AP Poll.

It wasn't Hiland's decision. Zanesville Rosecrans orchestrated the whole thing. Rosecrans was the top seed with Hiland the #2 and Malvern the #3. In sectional games in the East District, the higher seed hosts the game. They don't go to neutral sits until the district semifinals. Rosecrans passed after getting the top seed and #2 Hiland went on the bracket. Rosecrans passed again and #3 Malvern went on the bracket. Rosecrans then chose their line on the bracket. Both Rosecrans and Hiland won their sectional semifinal games so the two will play in a sectional final at Rosecrans.
Rosecrans gamed the system. Another good reason to have neutral sites rather than higher seeds hosting tournament games.

Seems to me like it should be either:
neutral sites + schools choosing their line on the bracket
(or)
higher seed hosts + lines on the bracket determined strictly by seed

I personally would much more happily take on Hiland at home in the Sectional Final than in the District Final where they are very comfortable with performing and winning at that stage. Smart move, Rosecrans.

Do away with the PASS option.

Do away with the PASS option. Yep. That is exactly what the NW District did 4-5 years ago.
