The thing that kinda stands out to me on this site is how casually people throw out ,,,"oh he's a D2 player" Meaning they're too good for D3. Ben Haraway was D2. There is no one on Upper as good as Ben. I rest my case. If someone has an offer,,then I stand corrected. Lot's of parents think they have an offer because they have a school send a letter--hence,,"they are recruiting my son" No, sorry,,doesn't mean that. Tripplet and Polacheck,,,we didn't quite replace what they brought last year. I do not think Cooper parrot and Terry baldridge are near Ben either, but I think they are still really good, and I think they can both play D2, and ya I agree with Fillmore, Ben could have played D1 but chose to play D2. But just because someone isn’t as good as Ben heroway doesn’t mean they can’t play D2

First off, I think Upper had a good team, and I said so on a number of occasions so I just wanted to make sure you know I wasn't throwing shade at them. Regarding Ben, to my knowledge he did not have a D1 offer, so saying he could have and just chose to play D2 instead,,,hmm not sure I'm buying that argument. I suppose it could have happened, but it didn't so that's all I can go on. The point is, unless you have a D2 offer in hand, you aren't a D2 player. If Cooper and Skeeter end up getting D2 scholarship offers,,then yes they are D2 players. But on the other side, if they don't get the offers, then they are not.
Kinda like you can't call a wrestler a State Champion wrestler if he never won State.
Lastly,,best of luck to CC and Upper in todays' and tomorrows' games. I for one am really pulling for them.

So maybe he didnt have D1 offers

Atleast OHSAA has given permission for the games to be broadcast live. WOSN/WTLW, not sure if any others will or not.

Offers are the only way we can state a player was a D1 or D2 or D3 guy that have played in the past. Ben was thin and on the short side and had never proven himself as a long range shooter. But he was a great high school point guard handling the ball and getting it where it needed to go.
IMO, seeing one a few games for each of these players, Upper's best player has the best chance of PLAYING D2 between the 3 kids being discussed. The tall kid from WHS had a great season but does not have the frame to go inside with D2 players on either end of the floor. His perimeter skills on either end would be average at most college's intramural games. The other WHS kid is a good high school player but what position does he play next year at D2? Findlay and Ashland are the local D2 standard in my eyes.

I played college intramural at a D1 school, was even approached by the head coach of the basketball team about "walking on" the University team. The tall kid's skills are much better than the average intramural player.

I thought we were talking about kids with offers? I'm not trying to split hairs but I was being specific to his perimeter skills with that comment. Being able to play and defend at 18 feet full-time in the D2 game is not easy. His advantage in high school is obviously his length. In college his skills, quickness and strength all become more valuable as well as his dedication. I'm not saying he can't, but if you are 6'7 on a team that has gone 43-7 in your Jr and Sr seasons and you have no D1 or D2 scholarship offers in March, intramural play may be your place.

The entire tourney has been postphoned. If they don't resume the tourney this year I think we have to award all remaining teams a state title. Let me be the first to congratulate the Upper Sandusky Rams on their tremendous season and second state title this century.

Since there can only be one, we can use the old National title method and give it to the highest ranked remaining teams in each division. Moeller Shawnee Harvest Prep Columbus Grove

Moeller Shawnee Harvest Prep Columbus Grove I'm sticking with awarding the Rams a title since they seem unbeatable the last several weeks, even when their starters can't play. And with 2 state titles and a runner-up since 2004 I think we have to name Upper Sandusky as a basketball powerhouse who ran roughshod over the NOL, and now the N10 & SBC on the way to state hardware. Its healthy to adapt to change and accept new realities. Lets all just get on board with the Rams being the basketball juggernaut of the 21rst Century.

Amazing what good recruiting can do for a program. I don’t think recruiting is what happened buddy I don't see it as recruiting but they definitely benefited from some high school move ins during their 3 successful tournament seasons in the last 16 years.

Let’s talk Crawford “Recruiting” / “Move-Ins”... Shell, McCreary x2, Shaum, Entamann, Fiechtner, Fenner, Valentine, Etc.. And I am sure I am missing a few. Upper got 1 kid since Dieblers Much of CC’s success over the past 10 years is due to good fortune of kids from outside the school district either open enrolling or moving in.

Willard got 2 move ins and no one said they recruited? Upper got 1 player in the past 10 years, he moved because he knew it would be a good fit for him, had nothing to do with recruitment, that’s just an ignorant thing to say

Royallballdad I disagreed with you a lot during the season but I’ve began to agree with you recently, and on this post I couldn’t agree more, no one says anything about how many move ins have happened for CC, I don’t think it’s recruiting but if u r gonna pull the recruiting card on upper because they are better than you gotta look at the move ins CC gets, because it is a much more significant number

What is ignorant is to think the CC to US move was anything but simply because it was a good fit. the parent of that player had shopped his kid around to almost every successful program in the area. Had the family not been asked to move out of their home, no change of school would have probably ever happened.

As smart and all knowing as you present yourself to always be on this forum.... you have your facts incredible wrong. You are only correct in that it wasn’t simple. The parents at the time of their move to The Upper school district were renting a farm house in the Wynford School district. That is a fact.. as that house was only a few miles from our property. The player was open enrolled at Crawford and driving from to CC High School daily. The parents moved a Grandparent to an Assisted Living facility in Upper along with relocating the spouse of the Grandparent to their household. Ending the lease of the farm house in Wynford then purchasing a home in Upper for the spouse to be close to her husband at the Assisted Living Center. Interesting again, that Upper gets one “move in / transfer” since Diebler and Crawford has had close to double digits in the past 10 years and Dude along with others continue to beat on Upper for “recruiting” and not talking about all the behind the scenes “recruiting” that has and continues to go on at Crawford. Sheldon is a master of misdirection - he should have been a politician.

The real reasons for all of that have been discussed in the past. Believe what you want to believe. That’s all i will say on that topic. As far as the continued bashing of CC recruiting... if you build a winning program from the ground up and also have nice facilities with excellent academics then kids/parents will come. There is never any “recruiting” in any sense of the form that you and others innsinuate. How many different coaches has wynford had since sheldon took over at cc? There is your answer as to why kids/parents “flock”...no pun intended.. to cc. Excellent coaching with stability. Don’t be jealous... build your program and they will come. P. S.... CC looking for a 6’5 or so kid to help out next year. Send credentials to cchs. 😉

Sheldon is a master of misdirection - he should have been a politician. I have never made any claim to be all knowing as you say but if you see me that way, you need help. I'm not splitting hairs but the lease ended due to the owner wanting the house vacant. This forced a move which resulted in the change of schools. Plus it did not help CC that the parent had not been happy with a coach for years. I'm not beating on US, only stating some actual happenings. And for CC, I along with others have called them CCCC numerous times. YOU obviously do not read very well as I have called out CCCC over the last 4 years over and over. It has been a stated fact that over 40% of their enrollment does not live in the district. Their coach is a direct benefactor of his county wide youth camps his assistant helps to organize and promote.

To be very clear that have been multiple teams in the reporting area that have benefited from high school kids transferring-moving-open enrolling-or what ever you want to call it. If they did not sit in your school desks the year before, I see them as a transfer. In the last 4 seasons I can think of 8 schools right away that have benefited.
