If bored, due to the absence of sports at all levels, one can peruse U of M blogs for a few chuckles. A couple from the mouths of U of M fans.
"Michigan hasn't been at an OSU level since WWII. The only reason OSU isn't even more highly thought of is because Michigan when 8-2 or 7-3, they on occasion upset OSU and very likely prevented OSU winning more National Titles and having the most National Titles in NCAA history."
"OSU hung 63 and 59 on Michigan the past two years and they could have 5 Stars at every position on offense the next two years. Here's Harbaugh's Defense recruiting so far for 2021."
Domincik Guidice NR no other Power 5 offers Casey Phinney #938 no other Power 5 offers TJ Guy #798 beat out Pitt and Syracuse

I’m not thrilled with Harbaugh’s lazy recruiting efforts. The guy who climbed trees needs to make a comeback. I do think that covid might be more helpful to a school like Michigan compared to harmful to the football factories like OSU and Clemson. If there is no football this fall OSU will get decked by the draft as usual but won’t have a seasons worth of blowouts to get the next wave playing time. They’ll be left with a roster full of talent but very little to no game time. Schools like Michigan. Penn State and Notre Dame won’t have quite as many issues because they have less early draft candidates and recruiting philosophies that recruit more program guys than OSU.

Recruiting these kinds of 'program guys' is Harbaugh's formula for success. Now I'm beginning to understand.

I'm of the opinion that the C-Virus has helped Day accumulate a huge 2021 class at this point in the recruiting year. No spring game for recruits to make an official visit. No recruits allowed on campus until after the start of their high school season. They won't admit it, but it's caused the 5 and 4 Stars that had Ohio State high on their list to panic a little and commit early. Due to once a few pulled the trigger, that they were competing against for a spot in the OSU class, they could no longer wait or they'd have to go to Michigan or ND.

There is just no way to say it but, Ohio State is just in a different league with recruiting, game play, and everything else. Michigan is slowly becoming a very sad joke, kind of like that friend that is slowly falling into a black hole and you feel bad but you know you can’t stop it.

A further look at the current recruiting issues at Jim Harbaugh's U of M.
When Brady Hoke was their head coach he signed more players from Ohio than any other state, including the home state. Hoke also signed 4 Top 100 players from Ohio. Harbaugh has signed less than half as many kids from Ohio in 6 years, than Hoke did in just 4 years and no Top 100 players. In 2 of the last 3 classes Harbaugh has signed ZERO players from Ohio. This year he currently has commitments from 2 Ohio players, the country's 515th and 393rd ranked players.
