Or that rule is waved since there wasnβt a season to serve your transfer rule sit It makes sense that if a season is canceled this year, any transfer penalties would be included in that cancelation. So, those that transfer has the same penalty as the VAST majority that don't transfer?? Ya, that "makes sense".

I understand the VAST majority doesn't transfer to a different School but don't take it out on a kid that does.

It's the kids/parents fault for having to sit half a year when he transfers The kid and the parents know the ramifications of transferring. Waiving the rule would be like giving them a "get out of jail free card". Doing so would multiply transfers exponentially. Watch them laugh.

As much as I dislike the transfer scene that we have now, it makes not sense to me to have a transfer kid miss the majority of 2 of their 4 high school seasons.

Just heard that there are rumors circulating the donut shop that former Huron great Chip Skylark is in the running for the Pirates opening. Skylark starred at Huron as a freshman on varsity in β06-07 before moving to Pennsylvania as a sophomore. Apparently his grandad ran a coal refinery. Played 2 years at Penn State before getting rupturing his femoral artery in a boating accident.

No one but dump would spend his time during COVID-19 watching grade school cartoons.Β even tho Willard had one kid transfer in and another one come back home which in technical terms qualify him as a transfer I also don't like kids tranfering. But there is special circumstances that I do agree with as in relocation of a job or if your dad gets a coaching job somewhere else.and why wouldn't a kid want to play for his dad?I can tell your not π― percent on board with this stay at home concept but it has disrupted everyones lives but to have a kid sit an additional year because of this is just not right.im also wondering if my son will play college hoops this year and if not does that still give him two more years at a juco? High school kids don't have that luxury.

Per usual, you can't "tell" anything.
My wife and I have been locked down in our home by out kids. No grocery shopping, no eating out, they won't even let us pick up carry out, they pick it up for us. No shopping for clothes by my wife, a real killer. No every other week hair cuts for my wife, even though she still pays her hair stylist. No visiting family or friends. No church activities to keep my wife busy. No bridge tournaments for me. My wife still pays her cleaning lady every week, even though she isn't cleaning for her. We still pay our monthly church tithe. Not a drop of gas put in our cars the past 2 months. Heck, my son demanded that we turn over our credit cards to him. What's amazing, our Chase credit card statement is 1/3 what it usually is. Even if our kids lift our quarantine, the governor of Michigan won't let us go to our summer place on Lake Michigan. She has instructed her State Troopers to stop cars with Ohio plates and send them home unless it's an emergency. She won't even let people from the Detroit area to go north to their summer places to escape the virus.
ALL kids have to "sit out" due to the virus. Why should that change what the penalty is for transfers?

If Whitmer tried to ban interstate travel sheβd risk running afoul of interstate commerce and bringing the feds into play. The Michigan state troopers are also not turning around out of state vehicles and sending them home.

wow, interesting comments from former players. Sounds to me like the parents who didn't like the rules and discipline were successful in getting McVeigh out, where as, those same type of parents were not successful in their attempt to run Steve Gray out in Norwalk. If I am a Perkins coach or someone thinking of applying there for a HC position. I hope they do their homework and see this. Because, if he did something unethical or in violation of the law, okay thats different than just run of the mill parental complaints. (i.e. team rules, playing time, scheme, etc.) Just embarrassing that they tell him they are letting him go and turn around and offer the soccer job... If I still lived in Perkins, I would be questioning whether our Superintendent is the right guy for the job or even what the heck is going on.

Tell me, are we now allowed to fish from a boat on Lake Michigan? Has that changed? Spring is the best time of year to catch Brown Trout in shallower waters.

Yes you can. Most restricted activities were softened before Mother's day weekend.

Coaching is always about balancing stick and carrot. Some kids need more stick. Some more carrot. A great coach can read each individual player and give them the right balance.
I agree with the article. Coaching high school down is getting tougher. There are more snowflakes and the parents that created them.
Sometimes the vocal minority wins. Sometimes itβs time for a change. Insiders probably have more information. The newspaper article was written favorably for the coach. Past players seemed to respect him. Or maybe they interviewed the 3-4 guys who had that opinion.
I would need a lot more information to have an opinion.

Thanks The 4 counties along Lake Michigan on either side of where I am, have a total of 44 cases. Richland county has 130. People up there are scared to death about people from the Detroit area invading their secluded, safe, sane area. When it gets warm enough I'm heading north.

Scott said in that article, He was approached by 'numerous' schools inside and outside of the SBC. I didn't know there were current openings in the SBC for basketball coaches, Unless he meant soccer.

Almost any program in the SBC would be immediately better if they could hire Coach McVeigh to their staff.

Other than the two kids that were seniors at SMCC this season, has Perkins had kids leaving or just giving up basketball? One senior this year and a really small junior class.

It would appear that in today's high school sports that kids are more inclined to change schools or walk away from a sport in the effort to focus on the sport they can/will gain a D1 scholarship in. Unfortunately I have not seen an increase in D1 scholarship in our area.

He could apply for the Margaretta Girls job as another name has hit the rumor mill. He is another guy who would not need a job in the district. This would be a great hire for them if they can convince him to leave a pretty good situation over there in Castalia.

The new Perkins AD walked into a sh-tstorm. I like the ad and think he will do well but Perkins needs to find or hire someone with experience. The new football coach knows the game and I am sure the new basketball coach will as well but how will the handle the other side of things, PARENTS. It might be best for someone who has no connection or ties to take over, therefore the politics are gone.

There is no way Girls coach Eric K. is leaving Margaretta, He's got the best program around, for now. Until a girl or 2 don't like to be disciplined, Then boo hoo to their parents, Then they'll run him out of Castalia, Like they did to Tim Tucker. Hopefully, That does not happen, again. Eric is a good guy.

Working with a new AD and new coaches in the two primary money making sports for your school could be rough going this year.
