Willards problem is the offensive side of the ball... the defense can only be on the field for so long. Offensively Willards gotta change something. Defense didn’t look bad again but that 2nd quarter. Anyone hear anything about the meisner kid? PC scored on their 2nd play tonight. Willard has issues dating back years behind closed doors and all the kids playing deserve a medal for still playing, but both sides of the ball need major work.

What’s this statement mean? No one carried the game on the radio last night so all i could do was wait until the midnight highlights. I didn’t think PC was this good but when you see the highlights, they have some players. Willard has a huge senior class from what I’m told and some really good juniors, so what is the problem?

A good TB is at Plymouth A good WR/ DB is not participating, another is injured. That sure doesn't help.

You stated there were very few skilled kids on this team and it points to QB, WR and RB. I have to disagree, this team has a ton of skilled kids so it comes down to execution or coaching or maybe a combination of both. Whatever the reason they play their arses off and the coaches are putting in the time. For someone to say there is very little skill on this team is a jab to the kids and i couldn’t disagree more.

Saying there is "very little skill" on this team can't be a fact? Or at least a knowledgeable appraisal...comparing Willard's to the "skill" on the teams they've played thus far?

well truecrimson in the preason poll the redskins were picked either 2nd or 3rd depending on which poll, the media or coaches and when port clinton won 28-7 at edison last week you should realized that especially after edison beat willard 57-8. next friday port clinton has the showdown game at home with huron. that should tell us how the redskins are. now you have oak harbor(1-3) but they are better than their record indicates.oak harbor jumped on edison as they scored on their opening drive then on the kickoff ball hit an edison player,PC recovered and scored on that drive it was 13-0 after 1st quarter and halftime then the start of 3rd quarter the chargers scored make it 13-7 OH,then OH came back with a field goal to make it 16-7but the chargers score twice in the forth quarter including the winning score wih 1:01 left in the game and OH qb threw an interception late and that was the game.so true crimson oak harbor is better than their record indicates, they play everybody tough.good luck to the flashes the last 2 games.

So far this yr: There have been 190 points scored in 4 Willard games. The opponents have 182 of those points. I wouldn’t say we have a “ton“ of skilled kids but we definitely have enough talent on the team to put up better numbers than that. If this keeps up, seven or eight man football is down the road

Meaning, most of our athletes are not "football" players. They don't like contact, they avoid contact in some cases, they take bad angles to the ball carrier, they over pursue, rush straight up field on every play. Meisner was a football player, his loss hurt us immensely especially on defense, Rothaar is a football player. Our offense is immensely predictable. 50% of our plays last night were in the wildcat formation with Dario running the ball. While Dario is a really nice back, it doesn't help his cause when the opposing 11 guys know exactly what he's going to do with the ball. IMHO, our offensive coordinator is clueless. Bottom line is, our opponents have just as many nice athletes as us, but they have alot more "football" players. We weren't gonna win any of those first 4 games regardless, and the only remaing game we're gonna have a shot at is Vermilion. I just thought we'd be more competetive than we are. Wednesday of this past week, 4 starting players were sitting at my kitchen table eating dinner. I asked the question, "so guys, do you think we got a shot Friday night in PC"? Almost simultaneously, they all responded "no shot at all". To respond that quickly, with no sense of optimism, tells me there is something really wrong in that locker room.

Hearing good things relative to Willard numbers this summer. 5 or 6 good athletes with size playing this year that haven't in the past. Also hearing the possibility of fielding a Freshman team. Maybe a .500 season is attainable. You still thing of a .500 season?

I edited my original post because after reading it I decided it probably wasn't a fair assessment as I don't really have a good grasp on this team. That's why I edited it. Regardless, C5 assessment is more accurate than mine because he's in the middle of it, and I am not.
C5--good point on "having football players and having athletes" yessir there is a difference.

What have I been saying? I told you guys years ago that this football program is dead. We killed it off years ago and you guys keep digging up it's skeleton and sticking it out on the field. Stop disrespecting that Soccer field by letting the long gone football program play on it. The Willard Football program is a bag of bones, leave it in the ground where I and the other top brass buried it 15 years ago. We, the top brass of Willard created Covid-19 with the help of some scientists at the Wuhan lab in the hopes that the 2020 season would be cancelled. You guys just aren't getting the hint. It looks like we will have to take it to another level in 2021 to get rid of the Willard football program forever. Alien invasion? We the top brass of Willard haven't made a final decision, yet. Willard is a Soccer school and city. Willard has everything it needs to become an elite soccer school but the dead football program keeps stealing our soccer players and is keeping us from becoming elite. Calling all WR, RB, QB, DB, and LB's soccer is your sport not football. Soccer is a World sport not some geographically localized sport.
Soccer is where it's at Soccer is the best Soccer makes dreams come true Soccer is the choice of winners Soccer scares Covid-19 away Soccer now, Soccer forever Football is for lifelong concussions and mental illness, no thanks

Maybe they can get a win ,and a little revenge. After tonight's fiasco, I think Willard's scheduling of the 2 additional games after the playoff game is a HUGE mistake. The kids are frustrated beyond return. If the intent was/is to give them a game or two where they might be competetive, that very well may blow up in the administration's face. This coaching staff has/had their backs against the wall from the onset, and I'm sure they are as frustrated as the players. But, its time to try something different.....substantially different. Doing the same thing, over and over, thru the first 5 games and getting the same result is just crazy.

This is Willard's 100th football season 1921-2020
Willard teams that started 0-5 1945 - finished (3-6) 1947 - finished (2-7) 1951 - finished (1-8) 1955 - finished (1-8) 1956 - finished (0-9) 1969 - finished (0-10) 1975 - finished (2-8) 2009 - finished (3-7) 2014 - finished (0-10) 2015 - finished (1-9) 2020 - Have (0-5) Vermilion, (1-4) Upper Sandusky and (0-5) South Central left
Based on common opponents it looks like Willard is the slight underdog to Vermilion. Who wants the W more?
Willard teams that have gone winless in Conference play in the last 50 years 1982 2013 2014 2016
I guess it's the new cool thing to do at Willard, go winless in Conference play. One last shot at a Conference W.

First of all this is my personal opinion about Willard football. I could be right on or totally wrong. I see a team that is lost totally and seems to not know why they want to do. You need to figure out roughly who your 7-8 best players are and they should be playing both ways. This is high school ball not college or professional. Especially at a smaller school where good talent is lacking...you gotta play your best players constantly. Past few years , players would get nicked up in a game ( not injured ) they take themselves out of the game...or they feel tired...What is with these kids these days. When I was playing ball ( yes I played ) you never took yourself out of a game...coach didn’t allow that...he decided when or if you needed a short rest.
I see players miss a lot of tackles. Whether it’s they are not in the right position to make the tackle or they take bad angles to the ball. I have see to many of bad angles to the ball and they don’t come close ...in which they should have made a good attempt. Is this coaching? Lack of toughness? Way I see it it’s both.
Offensively....Need to find out what they can do the best....run your best 2 running backs and it some short to intermediate passes. Not putting the Qb down...he needs to look over the defense...and know the play he is running , he should have a good idea if a pass where the ball should go.. guys are open just late on his throws...and he needs time back there if your going deep. Use match ups...that # 8 can catch almost anything...I see plays they should run that would be wide open...Who is in the box telling the coaches what is going down in the field.
This program needs numerous things. Discipline of course after game with Oak Harbor. I see a lack of confidence...that comes with winning some games...they lost before they get on the field. Lack of toughness, speed especially needs to be taught in the program
As far as coaching....you can’t have different coaching year in and year out Last 3-4 years....we have a different staff constantly...you need a constant coaching staff that works together and believes in hard nose football
I’m not saying a top tier coach could come in and we’d be great because I don’t believe that....it would take time to develop players and the program
Couple things that really bother me is few games ago the offense ran 2 consecutive plays with only 10 players on offense....now come on ....that is inexcusable and I have seen/heard players that are injured and not dressed on cell phones during the game....are you serious...that would be an absolute NO
Take control of your program!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sportinjunk, you hit the nail on the head about toughness. And we the top brass of Willard saw this 15 years ago that's when we decided to transition into a soccer school. When toughness lacks, soccer is the answer. We speed lacks, soccer is the answer. 2nd tier football players make elite soccer players and Willard is overflowing with elite soccer players that for some reason went out for the football team. We need to end this mistake and bury the football team so that these boys have no other sport to go out for besides soccer. Once this is accomplished Willard will become the premier soccer program in Ohio. State Title after State Title after State Title will result. Football is stealing some amazing soccer players from the soccer program.
