I can dig up as many articles on how the flu is 10x worse. There is no way kids can practice all summer among each other, go to the mall or a large chain like miejer or walmart with around 1000 people and then we say it isn't safe to play football. Take a ride up to Sports Force Park at Cedar Point on a Saturday afternoon and then tell me it isn't safe to have people playing sports. People need to get their heads out of the sand. You are being controlled by the leftist and media. If they tell people to wrap in cling wrap before going to the store, they would.

I have not seen that anywhere, but if you say so. Also, I don't allow the media to control my views on the virus, I am clearly just reading the facts on what is currently going on in the sports world and how Covid pertains to it.

I know 2 26 year olds that were positive. My kids. They had minimal symptoms but if they got near my mom who is 85 and just had open heart surgery and she caught it it might not end well. People don't get it. I think you did the right thing by keeping your family safe. You didn't need the Gov to make an order for you. I think this is how it should be done. Let's get back to living our lives and let each household decide what is best for them.

People don't get it. I believe people understand it. My question to you would you allow your two kids that have the flu or a common cold with a fever go see your mom who is 85 and just had open heart surgery? If you do why? It would be as bad for her as well and it might not end well. No matter what if a person does not feel good should not being seeing anyone who had open heart surgery. That is out of respect for the person who had the surgery, if you believe your sick or have something you should not risk going to visit them. That is common sense and I understand it’s their grandma but people also need to take responsibility of their own actions.

The flu vaccine is a crap shoot, A or B strain. We can agree to disagree here because it is obvious I think the media is about shear panic and those living every day life are not threatened by the mainstream media's objective to cause hysteria to improve their audience share and ratings.

The N10 has announced a 6 game modified schedule with all league games. So any SBC team with a nonconference game scheduled with an N10 school has lost it. northern10.com/

Why would do something stupid like that?

Only two of your links worked. That one was an example of an anecdote. “I know a guy.” You don’t make medical decisions based on an anecdote. You base it on pooled data. Those are interesting stories because they are the exception to the rule. Decisions should be made based on the rule. Most young people who get this have no symptoms or cold like symptoms and are back to normal quickly.

Please enlighten me on where your unsubstantiated claim was derived from.

"Most young people who get this have no symptoms or cold like symptoms and are back to normal quickly." Is most 99%, 75%, 51%? Please enlighten me on where your unsubstantiated claim was derived from. “Most reported SARS-CoV-2 infections in children aged <18 years are asymptomatic or mild. Less is known about severe COVID-19 in children requiring hospitalization.“ Directly from the CDC’s website. They are quoting hospitalizations at 8 per 100,000 infected as opposed to 164.5/100,000 in young adults. If all of Richland County were under 18 that would be 10 hospital admissions. Obesity is the greatest risk factor (even more than tobacco use). On averages our athletes are less obese. Personally I’ve tested over 200 people. I’ve had 6 positive results. Three were children and had no symptoms. Now, admittedly, my experience is an anecdote. None of those numbers are big enough to consider a study.

BTW, how much lower would that admission rate be if we truly knew how many kids really had it?
We’ve had limited testing.
If they can be asymptomatic there is no indication to test them.
The denominator in that equation could be so much bigger.
The great thing about science is it is quantifiable. Opinion is not. We all need to look at data not opinion.
I’m just cautioning people about what the internet/media tells them. What it suggests as their next read. Much of the media has algorithms designed to keep you on the internet looking at things longer. The more you click the more money they make. What these algorithms do is suggest things that they think will keep you looking. They are often inflammatory (because that hold people’s attention more than things that are not controversial) and tend to trend into more extremist views. The guy who wrote the algorithm for YouTube now feels guilty. Average watch time went from 30 minutes to over two hours after his algorithm that suggests your next video was implemented. It’s fine if you search puppies because nobody is mad after watching puppies for two hours, but when you search racism/black lives matter or coronavirus or any other controversial topic it walks you right down the path of extremist beliefs. It’s even worse now because the stress filled chemical soup in our brains (epinephrine, dopamine) alters our perception of this information in a negative way. It’s bad.
Should we wear masks and wash our hands. Yes. Should people with symptoms stay away from sick, elderly Grandparent? Of course. Should we be cancelling in person school and sports. No way. Nobody has to go to the football game on Friday. If you are frail then don’t. Even schools are giving families a virtual option. If you believe the hype keep your kids home. I’m sending my two daughters back to college next week.

They should let all fans in the games. Social distancing participation would be better inside the stadiums, Than all of us fans crammed together outside the fences, Sitting in our lawn chairs. Just let us in.

This just spews the true agenda for ohsaa, show me the money!!! I do not think you are wrong but this is what the survey results provided for. A majority of the voters selected the option of having a reduced regular season and a full playoff. So in that area the OHSAA gave the school admins what they wanted. Please clarify who voted. OHSAA board or local administration? I’ve heard from two sources that this came as a complete surprise to some local administrators.

Just let us in. How are are you going to control "fans". Students often refuse to be controlled. A lot of adult fans are unruly. For proper social distancing only every 4th row would be used. And there must be 4 empty seats between every person unless they are family members. Thus no reserved seats. NO student sections, they CANNOT be controlled. No kids younger than 9th graders allowed at games, since they CANNOT sit still for the entire game and want to be playing biddy football behind the stands. No concessions stands will be allowed, as that is where THE largest congregating of fans occur. No rest rooms open, THE single dirtiest places at football stadiums. No marching bands, UNLESS when on the field there are more than 6 feet between each row and between each kid AT ALL TIMES....when in the stands the same social distancing requirements for regular fans. Any sizable band at all would take up half the stands, No one gets in the stadium unless they have a mask on. The number of off duty police WILL be quadrupled and their sole responsibility will be looking for people that have their masks off to escort them out of the stadium. No second chances. markmay, you obviously have only been thinking about you and your 70 year old wife at games.

In a season where there's nothing to lose, I've seen a handful of matchups that will take place when, otherwise, it wouldn't.

I’ve heard from two sources that this came as a complete surprise to some local administrators. A survey was sent out to ever school superintendent, principal and athletic director. One of the questions was about what you would like to see in a season this year, cancel, full, shortened, playoff, no playoff. IT was about 5-6 different combinations. The options that received the most votes was a shortened regular season and a full playoff.
