The Shelby / Galion game was a dandy last year with Galion winning 13-12. I think Shelby overlooked Galion a bit last year. I don’t think they will overlook them this year. WMFD was strongly considering making this one their game of the week. Even if not, they will stream it. I am looking forward to seeing Shelby, they look really good. Galion needs to get that offensive line shored up and their secondary. Will be interesting to see how Fisher does this year against Galion.

The channel guide on my cable says that this is indeed WMFD's game of the week.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Ontario has a shot at a .500 season after seeing the games played thus far. That and not playing Harding as a league game and losing potential non-league wins against down Lex and Norwalk, who knows what might have been.
Having several athletic basketball players and wrestlers out has made a difference. I didn't think we'd see improvement for another couple of years. The coach has the numbers way up, including 30 some in 7th grade. They haven't had that many in a class for decades.
I've wondered how many pArents haven't allowed younger kids, 7th and 8th, go out due to the Virus. Anyone heard?

They gave my Cubs all they could handle.

Been hearing rumors that Galion is out at least four players one due to injury and the other three due to supension?

That’s correct. 2 seniors and a junior. One is the #1 wide receiver. Gonna be a long night tomorrow I fear.

Have to feel like CF is in a must win situation vs ONT. Hearing things in the valley are closing in around carroll, many people not happy with the way things are right now

That’s too bad to hear that. Ontario looks much better than they have been. Clear Fork looked decent on Friday night. Hard nosed and solid on the lines. They just lacked the skill players they have had in the past. They are young and more inexperienced than they have been. No reason to take that out on Coach Carroll. He has done an excellent job there.

I read in the Galion paper that GHS received a variance from the state health board to increase capacity at home football games to 22%. What measures did they take to get this? The paper didn't state any specifics.

Fortunately for him he has a few very big supporters that have a lot of influence.

The paper didn't state any specifics. I am pretty sure some of the D1 schools have been permitting General Admission up to the point of capacity. Galion doesn't appear to be bookmarking any of this added capacity to GA, just band members, football player's family, and students. Perhaps the litmus test of the bigger schools gave Galion some clearance? Crawford County has handled everything well thus far haven't they? I can't recall.

The paper didn't state any specifics. I read an article in the Dispatch that implied the first step is to work with the local health department. The % capacity might get adjusted down some based on what the health dept says, so as to increase the chances it gets approved. It then gets forwarded to the state for final approval. FWIW, the article said that statewide, only 1 out of 6 schools (16-17%) requested a variance.

CF rarely has a team that folds their tent. This game followed the same pattern for Ontario as their first 3 games, falling behind 14-0 in the first half. But this week they rolled off 6 unanswered TDs after that. CF's QB Brady Tedrow going down with a knee injury at the end of the 1st quarter was a problem for CF. Without him the Colts had NO passing. Once Ontario went up 21-14. Ontario stacked the defense to stop the run as there was no threat of a pass. I sure hope Tedrow's knee is just a tweak, as he's also their best returning player in basketball. Ontario's QB Ethan Snyder had another big game, completing 18 of 27 passes, for 299 yards and 4 TD passes. Spreading the wealth around to his stable of talented speedy receivers. Snyder also had one rushing TD. Ontario ended the night with 478 total yards. CF had 150 yards rushing and 62 passing for a total of 212. This was something like Ontario's only 5th win against CF in their last 45 games...Proof of CF's dominance and Ontario's run of average or worse teams.
