Without looking it up, I'm guessing this is the first meeting between these two since Upper's final NOL season in 2010

Both programs in shambles. Because of Upper's size advantage over their opponents, I don't put much weight on those 2 wins. Wish I could go to this game. Like sex, bad football is still football.

Two wins for us wouldn’t be shambles, it would be cause for a parade. I think Willard can win this game if they run the ball 80% of the time. Maybe even more. They won’t so they will probably lose but if they run run run they have a shot.

I certainly hope this game will be cleaner than our game last week vs Bucyrus. That was dreadful.

Sectional soccer update for Drug Mart Willard 6 St. Pete 1 HT Willard soccer won, drug Mart is finally building that dynasty he always dreamed of Back in the day St.Pete and Mansfield Christian were the soccer powers in Richland County, as they don't have football. Other Richland country schools have gone WAY around them now. Guys and gals at those schools now transfer to public schools to play soccer.

Upper(boys enrollment 208)....Results ____________________________________
Mohawk(102)....................L 42-0 Colonel Crawford(125)........L 54-19 Buckeye Central(73)..........W 26-18 Carey(117).......................L 64-0 Wynford(152)...................L 68-21 Seneca East(131)..............L 41-7 Firelands(207)..................L 59-20(playoffs) Bucyrus(146)...................W 62-34 Willard(176)..................
Since 2015 Upper has won nine conference football games. Eight of those have been against Bucyrus or Buckeye Central. The other was against tiny Ridgedale(enrollment 70)
As an Upper grad I just can't understand how the largest school in the league(by far) can struggle this bad.

The good athletes are playing basketball only. Several 6-0 to 6-2 athletic quick guards, great QB and WR potential. After seeing the size of their post players last year, two were like 6-5 220-230. Do they play football? All would have a FAR greater chance of getting a scholarship in football than basketball.

Wait. Wait. Wait... Willard had over 600 yards of offense, forced five turnovers, and still lost by double digits?

I liked because that's an excellent question. Evidently, turnovers didn't turn into points?

Wait. Wait. Wait... Willard had over 600 yards of offense, forced five turnovers, and still lost by double digits? Yes. Willard struggles w tackling. Offense isn’t the issue. I think... we will beat BC. Think.

65% of Willard's offensive totals can be accounted for on 6 plays....75+ TD pass to Paxton, 40+ TD pass to Paxton, 45 yard catch by Paxton, 60+ TD run by Lopez, 70+ TD run by Lopez, 60+ catch and pitch from Paxton to Sallee. 90% of our problems are on offense. Our defense spends waaayyy too much time on the field. Almost every touchdown we've scored this year is on a BIG play. We cannot sustain an offensive drive. Our OC has no clue.....seriously NO CLUE. EVERY parent sitting in my general vicinity were flabbergasted at most of the play calling. If we don't score on a big play, we usually don't score.

Never really put much stock into parents being flabbergasted by play calls. They usually are flabbergasted because they didnt watch opponent film at weekend game plan , and don't know the plan. Scoring 31 points sounds like they had a pretty good idea of what to do this week. Don't care, just saying.

You don't need to be sitting in the stands at a specific game, when I've sat in the stands for 40 years at football and basketball game and heard fans, that never played the game, say things that "flabbergasted" me. If I knew you were one of the flabbergasted I might have thought twice.

What's with all this football talk? I'm flabbergasted that Friday Nights are not reserved for the Willard Soccer team, yet. Friday Night Soccer under the lights, oh yeah, this town will go crazy. 5,000 fans will show up for sure and there's only 6,000 people in Willard. If you aren't in the 5,000 then you are what's holding Willard back from a Soccer Dynasty. Everywhere I go I hear about Willard Soccer and how the football team is holding them back. People are catching on.
Lopez playing football, big mistake, he could be dominating on the Soccer field and earning an athletic scholarship to a D-1 school. Paxton playing football, big mistake, he could be dominating on the Soccer field and earning an athletic scholarship to a D-1 school.
These kids have been mislead by ESPN and the "old guard" of Willard. Football is so yesterday, Soccer is the future.

Sectional soccer update for Drug Mart Willard 6 St. Pete 1 HT If Lopez and Paxton were on the team it would have been 10-0 at the half. Willard Soccer depth would be off the charts if the football players joined up with the soccer players. Varsity, JV and Freshman Soccer, Willard Soccer could be like Massillon Football 1930-1970. All it takes is disbanding the Football program.

If I knew you were one of the flabbergasted I might have thought twice. I know I'm often too hard on the coaches, in this case the OC. I should probably ease up a bit. I'll also admit to speaking from emotion more often than knowledge, but some things are so obvious that it doesn't take a Vince Lombardi to see it.

You remind me of Trump at times, your heart is in the right place but sometimes your mouth gets in the way and the message gets lost. I have to give the OC credit this week, best the offense has played all year. I cannot tell you the number of times I heard on the radio last night listening to the shelby game and the huron game, how many kids were going both ways and conditioning is key these days. You said, defense is on the field way too much and if you don’t have enough kids, many are playing 45+ minutes. Endurance is key but it didn’t mean they quit fighting, i just thing US had a little more gas in the tank. This isn’t a slam to you, just an observation.
