D4 Regional Quarterfinal - 7pm Saturday
There has been one previous meeting between these two teams, also in a regional semifinal, which Van Wert won 35-21 at Findlay back in 2000.
This will be Bellevue's 12th time playing in a regional semifinal game. 7 of those came when this round was the 2nd game, 4 came when it was the 1st game, and this is the first time where it's the 3rd game (which will continue being a possibility from now on with the playoffs expanding to 12 per region next year.) There were also two Bellevue playoff appearances that happened before the regional semifinal round existed, which both ended in round 1 Regional Final losses.

Should be a good game.
I've seen Van Wert firsthand eight times this year - Fast is the best way to describe the Cougars.
I also know firsthand how tough it is to beat Bellevue at home.
I'll be in town to broadcast the game, looking forward to seeing my Bellevue friends again.

Van Wert is very good on the perimeter both sides of the ball. Their skilled kids block well an tackle very well. Bellevue will be an issue for them with there running game an clock management! This could set up to be the best game of the week.

Would u say the Cougars go down field more in the passing game or a lot of bubble screens and underneath throws. Wondering how they compare to Tiffin as they have speed as well. Would have loved to see Kenton play van wert this year to get somewhat of a comparison. Pretty sure they both run the same offense with empty set backfield but unaware of what the D-front of the cougars is like

Pretty sure they both run the same offense with empty set backfield but unaware of what the D-front of the cougars is like I would say it’s actually a bit more downfield, although they do use the bubble screen on occasion. I haven’t seen Tiffin but Van Wert has a fast group of WRs. The running back, Nate Jackson, is fast as well and while the QB isn’t a blazer, he’s certainly a dual threat. Van Wert does run some five-wide sets, but nearly as much Kenton. The D-line has been fairly solid throughout the season.

Cougars are MUCH better than Kenton and while they have the speed of a tiffin team they likely the toughness of Clyde upfront. Redmen need to play tight in the secondary and have the passing game going. Go Redmen!!

It had been all punts, but then Wan Wert ran a fake punt from their own end zone out to their own 30, then hit a big play on a double reverse pass down to the 10 at the end of the quarter. They scored on the 2nd play of the 2nd.
It's 7-0, VW.....and as I'm typing that Bellevue fumbles the freaking kickoff return.

Since then Bellevue has turned it over on downs after a 4th and 1 run got stuffed in VW territory, forced a punt, got into VW territory again and then fumbled it away.
VW now driving 4 mins 2nd.

Bellevue threw a long INT, VW marched right down the field and then threw an INT on 3rd and goal with under 30 secs left.
21-0 VW at half, and they will start the 3rd will the ball despite the fact they lost the opening toss, because Nasonti has never learned from all the times he's been bit by the end of half/start of 3rd double dip and still thinks getting the ball first on the opening kick is some sort of advantage (We went 3 and out after that btw)

Bellevue got a stop to start the 3rd but immediately thre a pick, leading to VW's 21st point off turnovers.

Bellevue with some points off turnovers of their own. Scored on the last play of the 3rd on a Ray run following a pick, 2 point no good.

34-14 VW, 8:57, pat no good
VW had a short field after broken/missed tackles (a theme tonight) lead to a big kick off return

Nasonti makes half time adjustments as good as anyone. Enough to get back in the game...we’ll see. I expected to drive to Bellevue next week. We’ll see whether I may have a shorter trip. I’d like to play Bellevue over VW.

Van Wert 41 Bellevue 22 final.
With a 2-1 postseason the Redmen are now back to a .500 all time playoff record, at 20-20.
The Redmen are now also .500 (5-5) all time against the WBL, all in playoff games.

Bellevue should call Willard to see if they would wanna play next week. Willard is willing to play anybody, Plus Bellevue has only played 9 games I'd imagine Bellevue is calling it a season. Sounds like Van Wert s early trickeration was 2 left hooks, then knockout punch. Redmen just didn't recover. Congratulations to Redmen on a fine season and best of luck to Van Wert although honestly I'll be pulling for Shelby.

I'd imagine Bellevue is calling it a season. That does appear to be the case, based on the tone of the BHS twitter feed last night, and I'm cool with that. Congrats to the Redmen on an excellent season - Lake Division Champions (1st time winning the new conference and 28th title in program history) - Perfect Regular Season (6th time in program history and 1st since 1993) - Won the Route 20 Football (16th time since that tradition started) - 20th Playoff Win (for an average of 1 win per playoff appearance) The very real possibility of football not happening at all was frustrating to think about back in the summer, knowing that this team had a lot of potential, so I'm very glad this season managed to get played and this team got their chance to shine. I'm also glad that the season ended on the field against a superior team and not due to having the rug pulled out by covid and wondering what could have been, and I feel bad for any teams that have gone through that or might still have that happen.
