i stayed up late to see the finish of the toledo at western michigan game, and the rockets up 38-28 with 2:54 left and no timeouts left for western michigan, you think toledo was in good shape.wrong again!!! the broncos scored with 45 seconds left but missed the extra point to cut toledo lead to 38-34.then western michigan tries the onside kick, the kicker hits the ball lightly and it looked like the kicker was a yard or two behind the ball and id didnt look like the ball would go 10 yards, but stupidity came in as toledo decided to go to the ball even though it didnt go 10 yards, hit a toledo player recovered by a bronco player. then western moved the ball and under 20 seconds left western tried a fake spike, toledo thought whistle was blown but wasnt and western michigan receiver was wide wide open for game winning touchdown with 13 seconds left. western had 437 yards total offense scored 20 points in the 4th quarter but toledo had the ball beating 17 more minutes than western michigan.
toledo is overated being the heavy favorite in the MAC west now behind central and western michigan. there 38-3 against BGSU wast just a mirage and they dont play central michigan till the end of the season and dont play mac east until championship game if they get that far.i dont see them beating buffalo or miami of ohio if they get that far.but toledo bonehead plays cost them this game.

Thinking Toledo had everything well in hand, flipped to another MAC game. What a bizarre ending, to a game that had no business ending like it did. Toledo is clearly the better team and fully expected them to win out their remaining games. As the announcers were commenting, the Rockets were running at will the first half and why they went away from that, is a mystery.
The MAC has really found their niche, with mid-week football, giving them maximum esposure and a large viewing audience. Very entertaining and pretty good brand of football, on a weeknight ususally filled with old movie re-runs.

sportsjock, toledo is overated, the bowling green game is a mirage.now toledo is in a position to need help because next weeks western michigan vs central michigan winner will be 3-0 the other 2-1 and toledo doesnt play central michigan till the end of the season so toledo has to win the rest of the way and western michigan has to lose 2.i dont see that happening. and if central wins over western michigan, then the MAC WEST could come down to the last week with toledo at central michigan.its possible but not likely that these 3 teams could end up in a tie.so its starts this week with central vs western michigan and toledo cannot lose again. i dont think toledo can beat miami of ohio or buffalo in the mac championship if they do get there. toledos defense has to improve plus stop those silly mistakes or their season be over in a hurry.

Toledo is the class of the MAC, this year, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Last night was a fluke occurrence and most unfortunate, they put themselves into the position and the scenario, that you have so elequently explained. I'm sure the coaching staff is kicking themselves. You are certainly are more up on the teams and how the games and standing could play themselves out. The shortened season allows for few, if any losses. One thing we both agree on, pretty good football to be played and I look forward to Tuesday & Wednesday nights.

I agree with sportsjock. Toledo outplayed Western everywhere but on the scoreboard. Western did not look dominant at all. I think Edney the QB is below average. Eastern Michigan and Ball St might give either Central or Western a game. Eastern has looked better than expected and and Ball St might still come around. They have some talent on offense. And I know Central crushed Northern Illinois but I think NIU has some talent. Their QB has to be better to compete with Western. I guess we'll see. I wish the MAC played on Tuesday/Wednesday all season.

well toledo is in a bad spot as far as losing to western michigan.1 game back to western and and far as tie breakers its like toledo being 2 back of western michigan.toledo has to win out last 4 games and western has to lose 2 if toledo is to win the west. toledo is hoping that central michigan beats western and then western has to lose to northern illinois, eastern michigan or ball state while toledo beats central michigan at the end of season.central mich vs west.mich is on espn2 next wednesday toledo also plays at eastern mich on cbs sports network.wed.plus cbus i didnt say western dominated. i said toledo had the ball 17 more minutes than western, toledo had over 500 yards offense to westerns 437,but western had big plays for their yardage but like i said it was those 2 bonehead plays, the onside kick by western and the fake spike where toledo frozed and the receiver was wide open for the winning score.toledo cannot have anymore bonehead plays this season. remember the presason picks have 1.central michigan 2.toledo 3.ball state 4.western michigan.

Sometimes gadgetry and trickery is successful. In any case, coaches have to have their players prepared for any conceivable situation. I'm going to try and pull up the game again and painfully, review the ending. These kinds of games make the game, the fun game it is. Can't remember the game this past week, but the winning team, with a comfortable lead in the waning seconds, faked a knee and threw for a TD, further padding an already large, final score.

Central is favored by 1.5 points over Western on Wednesday. I think we know who Toledo will be rooting for. If Central beats Western and Toledo wins out the 3 way tiebreaker will probably be used. Here's the tiebreaker rules from the MAC website but it seems the coin flip might be needed. There are 4 more games to play so certainly a lot of scenarios are in play especially if games are canceled due to COVID.
TIE-BREAKER PROCEDURE Ties in winning percentage, and thus for tournament, seeding positions shall be broken as follows: 1. Between TWO teams: A. Head-to-head competition B. Division Record (10 games)^ C. Winning percentage* vs. ranked conference teams (top to bottom, regardless of division, vs. common opponents regardless of the number of times played) D. Coin flip 2. For MULTIPLE (3 or more) team ties: E. Total won-lost record/winning percentage* of games played among the tied teams F. Two (2)-team tie-breaker procedure goes into effect (refer to A) [NOTE: Once a three-team tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker will go into effect.]

tonight in the MAC it was Ball State 31 Northern Illinois 25,Toledo 45 Eastern Michigan 28 and Western Michigan 52 Central Michigan 44. so it 1.western michigan 3-0 2.ball state 2-1 3.toledo 2-1 4. central michigan 2-1. so western beating the top 2 dogs in toledo and central michigan.they are up 1 game but as far as tiebreakers it would be like a 2 game lead over central michigan and the only other 1 loss team ball state, they dont play until week 6.the broncos will be favored the last 3 games home with northern illinois, eastern michigan and at ball state.the MAC is off till friday the 27th and 28th.

Just a side note from the Toledo game last night. CJ Nossaman was the long snapper for Toledo. Willard folks will know who that is. Congrats to CJ!

I had a notice that at half Jarret Patterson(Buffalo) had 270 yards and 5 TDs vs Kent St so I tuned in for the 2nd half. The kid ended up with over 400 yards and 8 TDs. Crazy. His coached pulled him in the final 2 min or he could have finished with the all time leading rushing record and 9TDs another record.

Last 2 games 710 yards and 12 TDs. He's made some serious NFL money in the last 2 weeks. He can thank Kareem Hunt too!

It turns out the Ball St v Western Michigan game next week will decide the MAC West. I'm not sure what happened to WMU against EMU but Ball St looked good against Central. Hopefully it's a good game and it's on TV somewhere. I think Toledo scored 35 straight points against Northern Illinois on Saturday.
