Still can’t believe what we witnessed last night. I was truly expecting a loss going into this game. What a job by the coaching staff and players. In Day’s second year as head coach already playing for a national championship and should’ve been playing last year too.

Gotta love the internet. 2 best meme’s i’ve seen is Dabo saying this “ no i said OSU would be playing on the 11th not ranked 11th” and Jimmy Harbaugh saying “ should of told em you had covid”. Funny stuff! Great job Bucks!!!

I wonder if Dabo still has the Buckeyes ranked at 11??? He has #11 shoved so extremely up his butt he probably should wonder about other things.

I had tears in my eyes watching Kerry Coombs after the game. Anyone else see him making "snow angels" in the confetti on the field. Classic!

“ no i said OSU would be playing on the 11th not ranked 11th” another one I saw was that he was actually ranking Ohio State #1 twice

And to make the last 24 hours even better for Ohio State, they just picked up a commitment from one of the top players in the 2022 class in Jaheim Singletary. He’s the #10 overall player in the class.

He has #11 shoved so extremely up his butt he probably should wonder about other things.P He's an ignorant hill jack, no intelligent coach says or does things like... "ranking a top 3 team #11". "not taking back mistakes". "saying he meant it". "Polls don't have anything to do with motivation". Ohio State scared Dabo to death, he hoped his stupid #11 ranking would influence the committee to keep Ohio State out of the playoffs.

I can't say how pleased I am to be wrong about this one. Almost as satisfying as the Biden win.

Watching replays of the despicable, intentional spearing with the helmet by LB James Skalski leaves me shaking my head. I shudder at how this could have been the tragic event of the year, in college sports, or possible all-time tragic sports incident. Justin Fields could have experienced instant paralysis, or even worse, instant death, as a result of a severed spinal cord or ruptured spleen.
I am convinced, James Skalski didn't act on his own. His purposeful intent to injure Justin Fields and put him out of the game, most certainly came at the direction of Brent Venables or possibly Dabo Swinney himself. LB James Skalski was simply a tool, to make a game changer. Whoever was responsible for this scary and malicious attempt at serious injury, one thing we can all agree on is, this was the lowest and ugliest use of intentional, violent harm, put on full display, well beyond cheap shot status.
Think of this scenario of Justin Fields lying paralyzed in ICU or going through a week of mourning his funeral, the week before the National Championship game. Things could have gone so horrendously wrong, it makes me shudder.

You are correct that it definitely could have more serious. Shalski also could have been paralyzed or even killed by breaking his neck during that play. This play is the poster child for why the targeting rule was implemented. I doubt it was a conspiracy. If the a defender gets a clean shot at the qb he is supposed to take it, regardless of who he's playing for. If he had just not put his head down at the last minute and made contact with his shoulder pad the hit would have still been devastating and he wouldn't have been ejected.

Skalski also has a habit of doing that as he was ejected against LSU last year for the same thing. It’s eventually going to come back to bite him badly as he gets a severe injury.. see Ryan Shazier.

We're talking player safety here and high potential for serious injury and your concern is with the perpetrator? This is a very personal and rather emotional topic for me. I had a good friend, who as a high school QB, literally died on the operating table after receiving a very similar, helmet blow to the exact same region as Justin Fields received and he had a ruptured spleen. Fortunately, they were able to revive him after flat lining several times and made it through a long recovery period. So, when I see some jerk playing with no regard to the safety and well being of others, it sickens me. Granted, this is a violent sport, but stupidity is still prevalent among us.

While the ruptured spleen scenario does exist, the frequency of that happening is less prevalent that the paralysis\death scenario for the person dropping his head before contact. Clearly it is not safe for any party involved which is why spearing is illegal and the penalty is removal from the contest.

There was a real dichotomy in how tackling is taught in this game. Skalski's compared to Pete Werner's tackle in a similar situation in the game. Head up, face mask to the side of the player tackled from behind in full stride. A hard tackle, but each player got up with ease after the play.

At full speed it could happen to any defender. Football is a contact sport at a high rate of speed. The difference in this case (as RB pointed out) it wasn’t this player’s first. It would be interesting to see if what WF is suggesting is true. Does Clemson get called for this more than other teams. It’s measurable. That would surprise me. Tackling is taught at lower levels and habits/techniques are pretty engrained by college.

I agree with you completely, but the distasteful part of this was, the player was allowed to remain on the sidelines and would have been allowed to remain on the sidelines, even if his victim was carted off on a gurney, possibly with a sheet over his head.

Watching the game replay, it is amazing how many OSU snaps has Clemson not set defensively. The ball is snapped and they aren't even down in their stance! To see the defensive captain running around in panic mode, trying to orchestrate his team mates, is hilarious. There simply, was no time for adjustments.
Despite having his pants down around his ankles, and exposed on nationwide TV, Bret Venables continued to get praise from
the broadcasters....hilarious. Kerry Coombs was nary a mention.

Sportsjock is 100% right on. Heck, even my wife noticed it and asked me what was happening. The entire Clemson propensity for stealing signs and outright cheating was exposed for all the world to see. Ive often wondered why some teams, once the ref moves off the ball, wait for the defense to get set. TS if you"re not ready, go at em full bore and run the d+++ play,

I watched this game with my Dad, He laughed when I told him about Our Over/Under with Brent Venables, And Physicality, He counted with me. My Dad noticed too, How screwed up Clemson's defense looked, No wonder why Brent Venables has never been offered a Head Coaching job anywhere. He noticed how often Herbie praised him and his physicality's, And the camera being on him. My Dad liked me reading everyone's posts on here, during the game. Thanks Guys.
