Far more collisions than in a typical game so the there was not as much flow. If the Crew can finish in the box they'll have a good year.

I'm pretty sure that's the earliest red card I've ever seen. Certainly tipped things in the Crew's favor for the rest of the day.

On Sunday the Crew shut down Cincinnati again 3-0, this time with some fans in attendance at Mapfre.
Columbus currently has the best record in the MLS.

The Crew contended for the Supporters Shield for most of the season, but ended up fading down to the #3 seed in the eastern confernce.
Today they won a first round playoff game 3-2 over the New York Red Bulls, and will advance to the conference semifinals against the winner of Toronto/Nashville.

MLS CUP CHAMPIONS!
Columbus 3 Seattle 0
That's quite an accomplishment for this franchise, after all it has been through these past 3 years.

Columbus 2 Cruz Azul 0
Campeones Cup Champions! And in dos a cero style to boot.
This was the 3rd edition of a new a one game title game between the MLS Cup champion and the Liga MX champion. The Crew are having a lackluster season in their title defense (currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff race), but this is a nice feather in the cap.
The Mexican teams always dominate when it comes to the Concacaf Champions League (the Crew were knocked out of that by Monterrey back in May), but MLS has now won 2 of the 3 matchups in this one off deal.

The Crew are back in the playoffs for the first time since their MLS Cup win. They are the 3 seed in the Eastern Conference and will take on the 6 seed Atlanta United in a best of 3 series (which is a new format this year, that only applies to the conference quarterfinals.)

Columbus 2 Orlando 0 - final after extra time
The Crew have advanced to the Eastern Conference final, at FC Cincinnati, which will end up being the rubber match in this year's Hell is Real series. Both teams won their respective home games, Cincinnati 3-2 and Columbus 3-0.
This will be the first playoff meeting between these two teams, and it happened the first time both made the playoffs in the same season (this is Cincinnati's 5th year in MLS)

Cincinnati had a 2-0 lead at halftime and kept it until the 75th minute.......and then the game went to extra time tied 2-2.
Columbus scored at the 115' mark to secure a 3-2 win, a 4th Eastern Conference Championship in franchise history, and what is now the most iconic win in this intrastate rivalry.
The Crew will just MLS Cup next Saturday Dec 9th, against the winner of LAFC and Houston.

MLS Cup Champions!Columbus Crew 2 Los Angeles Football Club 1 Final This is the 3rd MLS Cup in Crew franchise history, which puts them in 3rd place all time for most MLS Cups (Behind LA Galaxy with 5 and DC United with 4) The Crew have had 3 different logos, and have now won a championship with each. Time for a new one I suppose! (I'm not the biggest fan of the current one, much prefer the 2013-2020 version)

I attended last night's CONCACAF Champions Cup home leg against Houston. Unfortunately the Crew gave up a late penalty for a 1-1 draw, but the more important thing is that Columbus advanced to the next round 2-1 on aggregate (on the strength of last weeks 1-0 win at Houston.)
Next up is the quarterfinals, which will be a 2 legged home and home aggregate goal matchup with Tigres UANL of Liga MX. The first leg will be played in Columbus on April 2nd and the second leg will be April 9th in Monterrey, Mexico. This is the 5th time the Crew have appeared in this continental tournament, and they have now made it to the quarterfinals all 5 times...but have lost at this round in the previous 4 appearances.
