Bit of a different format this year with it taking place entirely within the state of Indiana and rounds 1 and 2 being on a Friday-Sunday and Saturday-Monday schedule, with the first four being on Thursday.

There has been some great NIT games the past few years, that rival many of the NCAA matchups. Was rather surprised when Toledo bombed in the MAC Championship game. Up to that point, they were a very viable NCAA tournament team. I will be watching the Rockets with great interest Wed. night. The Dayton/Memphis game will be interesting....Dayton has a good team. Just getting warmed up for some great March Madness!

The upset of the tournament is about to be completed, with Loyola of Chicago putting the finishing touches on #1 seed Illinois! Most teams these days don't have a clue on implementing a full court press. Illinois full court pressure is laughable. Final score L of C 71, Illinois 58....unbelievable.
Is a full court trapping D, a lost art? I loved Keith Dieblers fire drill traps at Fostoria and Upper, with attention to cutting off passing lanes, was so much fun to watch and nightmares for the opposition.

Big ten = big bust. One game in of the second round, and a 1 2, and 4 out. Can we say the big was overrated?

Michigan is .500 in their last 6 games. Not exactly a ringing endorsement going forward either.

I haven't seen any of the tournament yet. But, I heard that half of the teams are kneeling during ours and their National Anthem. And Ohio State did that too ? It serves them right to lose. I have no respect for people that do that crap.

Big ten = big bust. One game in of the second round, and a 1 2, and 4 out. Can we say the big was overrated? It will be many years before the press and AP Poll anoints the Big Ten as the best conference in the country. Nor will the committee willy-nilly hand out 1 and 2 seeds to them.

Read an interesting article by a Chicago writer contending that Illinois was really set up by the NCAA selection committee and that Loyola should have been a 2 seed and not an 8 or 10 or whatever they were. Face it boys, the Illini blew it, just like the Bucks, set-up or not.

The Big Ten may have been the toughest conference to win but the NCAA is showing us that game is still a guards game and having a large physical body in the middle is not that important.

Maybe Holtmann is on to something then by now getting guys like Garza and Cockburn. But then again, he still lost anyway, lol.

the B10's problem is the same it always is come tourney time, their big men cannot defend in space
It's why they look tough vs each other but haven't won the tourney since...what, MSU? 2001? Something like that. Horribly exposed this year.

haven't won the tourney since...what, MSU? 2001? Something like that. 2000 for MSU. Since then it's been a parade of runner ups every 2-4 years. Indiana 02, Illinois 05, OSU 07, MSU 09, UM 13, UW 15, UM 18.

So maybe it’s not *quite* that bad either.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have my Big Ten hat on and pulling for Michigan all the way. At least one B1G team is playing up to task. Watched the UConn vs. Baylor women's game yesterday and it was easily, the best played basketball game I have seen this season, man or woman.

The UCLA that played OSU and lost was not imppressive. I got Mich the way they are playing right now. Altough I must say UCLA is so flipping quick!
How about Houston and their offensive rebounding? Sampson could make a mint selling the drills he's doing to teach his players that skill.
Attention girls HS coaches, boys HS coaches and Chris Holtman----when your team needs 1-2 points last possession ---get the ball into one of your best dribble driver players and tell em to go to the basket with the mindset of drawing a foul. And btw---make sure your inbounder is in the loop on this as well.

That's what Holtmann did in the Big Ten Title game against U of M. Washington drove to the basket, got molested so he couldn't make the basket and no foul was called.
