Might as well start a thread. With the Browns signing Jadaveon Clowney today, they have capped off a productive free agency period. It’s worth noting that Oliver Vernon had his contract reworked for last year and I believe he was paid $11 million. So it will be interesting to see how Clowney does lined opposite of Myles Garrett.

And what’s the best option at 26? I’m hoping for another pass rusher or possibly another safety.

I’m hearing a d tackle at 26. We will see. Need help in the secondary and at wr too.

If I'm not mistaken, NFL is going to a 17-game schedule starting this year. Over/under on Browns victories set at 10.5.

With Sheldon Richardson being cut, drafting a DT at 26 is really plausible. I believe they will address the DL, secondary, and WR in the draft.

They may bring back Sheldon Richardson on a cheaper deal. A lot of media heads and scouts have been saying this is an awful DT class, and there really isn't going to be a blue chip edge rusher available at 26 either. At this point, I prefer we draft a corner, but I'm open to BPA if they want to go that route.

I saw Richardson coming back is a possibility. I hope so.

Corner, that was easily the weakest position last year, exacerbated by Ward's continuing injury issues. Togiai should still be available in later rounds

I agree they need additional help at cb. They did however sign Troy Hill. That should help. If those two can stay healthy I like the secondary. They also got a safety in this offseason as well. Plus last years pick ( delpit) is healthy. Should be another good year for the browns.

The good thing now is they can draft for depth. Anything they get is probably better in the secondary than what they were sending out last year IMO.

Drafting the "best player available", is music to my ears. The organization is real close to that.

Because we did so well in free agency this offseason, I think the Browns can afford to be patient and pick for depth like so many have said on here. OL to me is a spot we could use some more depth. Seems like our guys currently are good, but are a little injury prone as well.

The Browns select Greg Newsome II a cornerback from Northwestern. Sounds like a talented player but maybe some durability concerns.

They end up trading up and taking LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah at 52. Looks like a steal in the second round. A linebacker who can play like a safety.

I think they were trying to decide between him and Newsome with the first pick. I saw draft boards with him as the top rated backer. Footage on twitter showed him running with some speed wrs in coverage.

The rest of the picks: Round 3 pick 91:Anthony Swartz WR Auburn Round 4 pick 110: James Hudson T Cincinnati Round 4 pick 132: Tommy Togiai DT Ohio State Round 5 pick 153: Tony Fields II LB West Virginia Round 5 pick 169: Richard LeCounte II S Georgia Round 6 pick 211: DeMetric Felton WR UCLA
A few of my thoughts. Swartz is another speed burner that could be an excellent deep threat. Fields is another smaller linebacker like Owusu- Koramoah that is quick. I’m pleased. They added some good players who should compliment what they are doing.

I’m glad they have really addressed some of the key issues on defense. Cornerback and safety for that part depth. And I’m really looking forward to seeing these smaller quick linebackers on the field.

Probably because he only played a little over a quarter. You clearly didn’t know that

Most importantly they now have some needed depth. They have 4 corners. Newsome may not necessarily have to play right a way. But if he stands out, so be it. They are deeper all the way around and should be able to handle the speed wherever it comes from.

Hopefully this added depth also adds talent to the special teams return and cover teams They have not been good on those for a long time.

key to our 2ndary is keeping the guys we already have on the field, but if we do this is looking like an elite Defense

Probably because he only played a little over a quarter. You clearly didn’t know that A couple of analysts I read said he had a really good game until the injury. No passes completed against him on 3rd down, held Wilson in check with Olave being out, Ohio State pass game improved after he left game. You clearly didn't know that. I do remember now that the INT I thought he got was by Joseph.

It looked as if the Browns 2nd string defense is better than last year's 1st string. However it was the Jags.
