Why not combine these leagues for wrestling. From what I hear there has been talk but resistance mostly from some of the Firelands Conference coaches. To win either one of these conferences is pretty much a numbers games because most are lacking just that. Several ways to go about it.1) Recognize as one conference 2) Like the SBC have your individual bracket champions but two team titles. 3) one half the bracket Firelands conference done just like now and the other half the same for the N10 with the conference battle finals round. FC champs vs. N10 champs and the runner ups on second mat for 3rd!

Breaking down the N-10’s 60 wrestlers
10 only wrestled one match 31 only wrestled two matches and out of the 31 only 7 of those were beat twice. So seven would have been eliminated no matter how big the bracket but 24 would still be alive to wrestle at least a third match. 15 wrestled 3 matches and the minority was eliminated with the majority still alive for a possible 4th match. Then the last 4 wrestlers got four matches and is at least what you want for a (2 point scheduling) tournament. For those of you who don’t know you get “20 points” for scheduling. A one day tournament being 2 pts while a dual would be half a point and a tri dual would be one point. Only four guys broke even with four matches compared to duals which come out to a half a point for a match.

I'm not much of a wrestling fan and don't understand a lot about how a meet works. I don't see a problem setting up some kind of invitational for N10 and FC teams if the interest is there. I wouldn't be in favor of jumping through all the hoops necessary to call it some kind of "league" though. Oh, and going forward, there are only 6 N10 schools that will have wrestling.

Well it doesn’t look like my seventh grade wrestler from Willard will end up in this conference. Seems like Willard and Marion Pleasant will be rejected. The SBC is a great conference for wrestling but the N10 is just too small for a conference tournament. Especially with Ridgedale leaving and Wynford and Colonel Crawford not having wrestling. So in all reality I hope Willard stays in the SBC as it will be better for a lot of sports and hopefully Willard Football can get a little more competitive where they could be satisfied in the Bay division. As far as a conference tournament. It’s just one tournament and you could have both at the same time for the two separate conferences with one extra round. It could be done as an all star match. N-10 champ vs FC champ which I think would create some buzz for that round. Then runner ups could wrestle for 3rd while the 3rd placers could also wrestle for an overall 5th place to get some more quality matches. I’ve seen N10 guys go 0-1 in times past to finish 2nd. That just not a good competitive conference tournament. But it doesn’t look like Willard will be in the N10. It is puzzling to me though it seems the majority don’t want this. If I was an N-10 wrestling coach I would try and get at least the Mid Buckeye Conference in as affiliates. Loudonville and Lucas and if they have any others with wrestling. Historically the NCC schools never were a wrestling conference of schools.

Historically the NCC schools never were a wrestling conference of schools. That is what I don't understand about Willard's administration's desire to go to the N10. Don't they care about their student athletes in the sports that the N10 doesn't have? Football requires patience, hard work, dedication, and support from the administration and parents. Schools Willard's size also need cooperation and support for each other between the coaches in all the schools sports. That is what Willard should focus on, not just a quick fix by changing leagues for one sport. Besides, Willard couldn't beat a team that won 1 game in the N10 last year. If they don't improve themselves by doing the above, playing with the other N10 teams won't help them. Good luck to your son.

At this point it is what it is. I am puzzled as well, I’m not in those insider conversations. The feed back I get is a desperation to rectify football. It may be on the endangered list at the rate it’s going. I think they feel good about this last coach hire. They put in a turf field now they are switching home and visitor bleachers. Building new bleachers on that side to now to be the home side. So they are gonna do whatever they feel they can to keep football. To be fair, they do offer a lot of sports for a school their size which is better than not offering them at all. Though division 5 in football in all reality they would be division 6. As the muck produce farms have a lot of migrant workers that get counted for enrollment in April and are not really there in the fall and winter. Not every year but a lot of years they would be a division smaller. I just knew they wanted the N10 and with that I know SBC wrestling is a roaring Lion and N10 wrestling is more like crickets. I would just like to see better competition. But like I said doesn’t look like it’s gonna happen. I have a daughter in tennis too which is another one they wouldn’t have a conference. Also thank you about my son.

The Firelands and N10 Conference Tournaments should combine because they are a joke numbers wise and teams are wasting two points on it with the kids getting two matches. I have heard the N10 and Firelands Conference were all for it except three teams (Plymouth, Mapleton & South Central). If that is true, how does South Central even get a vote with only having 2 kids entered the past two years... they are part of the problem numbers wise! I wonder what the penalty, if any, for teams that decided not to attend their conference tournament or if able to, put their B Team in it? To me this is a no brainer and they should combine to make the it worth while!

At this rate of No votes I’m going to personally pull the Willard application for the N10. This is going to be made strictly on the wrestling conference tournament. Sorry N10 but Willard is out!
