I read that Ada will be having a meeting on looking at the pros of possibly joining the BVC. I guess now that Liberty Benton is gone, Ada is going to be first to call dibs. The problem is the BVC is on life support, with or without Liberty-Benton or Ada. There has been discussion on various sites about this covering travel distances, etc. The travel seems to be essentially a wash. The BVC is in limbo and any advantage to making the move would be more for sports other than football, especially girls athletics, in my view. What wins Ada stood to gain over the NWC basically disappeared when C-R and NB bolted along with Vanlue being given the boot. The prospects of beating McComb, Arlington, and Elmwood do not seem favorable. Does Ada really want to beat up on Arcadia? Pandora is having a good run lately, but when they drop off it's not unusual for them to struggle for a while. Even then it's still a coin flip. Riverdale? Van Buren? The conference is on shaky ground and if they move they could very well be looking at less desireable options like the NWCC or a period of an independent schedule unless or until the NWC takes them back in the event that the BVC disbands. Paulding left and is still bad.

Can we just tell the river to kick f****** rocks? If they did break off and do their own league then here’s the big question. What do Margaretta and Willard do in that case?

In Keith's famous words, it ain't happening Yep. Honestly, I really like that suggested league. But there are a couple of those schools that will never be in the same league as Ross.

What would their excuse be for being in a league with two schools with bigger enrollments then Fremont Ross?

Geographically doesn’t really make sense having tiffin in the sbc

Since it's hard to find 8 schools to make a league I think the SBC should stick with a 5 or 6 team league for football and find another 5 or 6 team league to guarantee scheduling each year. The other sports can have more teams if it makes sense geographically. I don't think you should let the football scheduling issues drive a lot of expensive travel for the other non-revenue sports. So here's my thought:
SBC Lake-Sandusky, Clyde, Perkins, Norwalk, Bellevue (Maybe-Fremont) OCC-Mansfield Senior, Madison, Ashland, Lexington, Tiffin (Maybe-Shelby)
Weeks 1-3 Nonconference games Weeks 4-6-OCC v SBC games Weeks 7-10-conference games
Each school would pay some amount to Tiffin to help offset their increased travel costs.
If scheduling for the other sports is a problem then you could have teams play each other 3 times instead off twice. I don't think that would be a problem at all and might help with travel costs. For example, Tiffin could be in the SBC Lake for sports other than football and the OCC would have 4 teams. Or Shelby could join the OCC for sports other than football.

The longer the SBC IS, the more convoluted it becomes.
What if Shelby agrees to it? Does Tiffin go back to the SBC and Bellevue get sent to the Bay? OR does this work only if both or neither agree?

If Shelby opts in then yes Tiffin back to the Lake and Bellevue to the Bay. I doubt if Shelby is interested based on other comments I read but, there's always a chance. I doubt if Fremont gets in either based on comments but, it's always good to have a plan B and feelings might change in the future.

According to Coach B, a very credible source on another forum, Liberty-Benton was told "no thanks" by the SBC very recently

I don't think that Shelby would be amenable towards leaving the MOAC anytime soon. They are starting to dominate in some of the sports in the league that they are currently in.
I'm remembering the old adage......"If it ain't broke, then don't try and fix it till it is".

The MOAC is a travel friendly. A few of these schools are very happy just to be in a league so the fact that Shelby dominates like they do probably doesn’t bother them as much as the other schools in the BVC. Shelby is the king of the mountain right now. No way would they move themselves from that.

Quite a few down to the wire games

With the season winding down I figured I’d bring this back up. With the recent Oberlin game being canceled, would Vermilion be a team that could be invited into the Lorain County League if Oberlin has problems fielding a football team?
Will Edison and Huron become too small for the SBC?
Does the bigger SBC schools bring in a couple other schools and create their own league?
A lot of schools going in different directions as far as enrollments go. Just cause leagues were a good fit 15-20 years ago, doesn’t mean that league is still good for everyone now.
