Who ever commented the Gophers were ready to go “hit the nail in the head.” They played lights out for the most part. I believe that is potentially a 9-10 win team if their running back can get back in the game. This was a good opener for the buckeyes and will help prepare them for the atmosphere of Oregon. That defense will be a work in progress, the offense will just have to outscore their opponent for the time being. I think the LB’s could be a great asset this year and it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to say that. Ohio State had 4 LBs get drafted or signed as free agents last year. Has that ever happened before?

I don't see Minnesota better than 7-5 after losing the RB.
OSU defense is built to defend the spread option teams so Minnesota and Wisconsin could pose problems. Sometimes you need to sink that 325 pound space heater in there to prevent push or draw the double.

I think we can all agree our LB play was subpar the last several years, no matter what their NFL status is.

I’m quite aware of the LB play the last few seasonS. I shouldn’t say we have had no success, but IMO these young men have a higher talent ceiling than the prior players. I also think as a group they can be a very talented set of 3.
Im not saying we’re looking at a group like Carpenter, Hawk, and Schlegel but versatility wise these guys should be able to ball out once they get comfortable in the defensive schemes they’ll run.

Coombs is a concern. Think we pegged this one when the hire was made tho.
Stroud was disappointing to be honest. For whatever reason, legit or not. He was.
Henderson looks like a faster, more agile Dobbins with better hands. Gd terrifying with this OL. I look for him to command more touches.

I understand what you're saying, but what the hell should anyone expect from a kid that's never thrown a collegiate pass? I think the coaches purposely toned down his repertoire, with the objective to not put too much pressure on him, keep things simple, while managing the offense well enough to move the chains and not experience any major mistakes. Second half he looked much more comfortable and played much better. Personally, CJ erased any question marks I may have had, going in. What was lingering in my mind throughout the game was, can we win this game with McCord, if CJ gets injured. I agree with your assesment of Henderson. 'Electrifying' is the first word that comes to mind and when was the last time we could legitimately apply that description to an Ohio State RB.....Archie Griffin?

My concern with Stroud(obviously low sample size) is his throws on the run. Look at how far off or not even close his throws on the run were. When his feet were set or throwing from the pocket he seemed fine. Hopefully that just gets better with more experience.

Hopefully that just gets better with more experience. he seemed fine to me when guys were running wild open, but he was clean all night and did not impress of course, it's a small sample size from a first time starter who threw 4 tds so...maybe we are just a bit spoiled (Pryor/Braxton/Barrett/Fields) and it is the "comparison is the thief of joy" effect i am just being honest though, he just did not impress me in the way i expected he would more worried about the D though than Stroud, although again, SSS and started a bunch of true and redshirt Frosh Good game though, can't wait to play Oregon. We have some things to button down though for sure, and the first thing on my priority list if I am Coach Day is to get Henderson caught up in the protection packages so he can get 15-20 touches a game, he needs to have the ball. Teague is who we thought he is (a 4th-1 hammer) and Miyan deserves his share, but it was clear to me that Henderson is even more elite than I thought and he needs to get the ball as often as he can.

On 11 Warriors, Chris Olave commented how accurate he was, throwing on the run. There's a good chance, with his first exposure to a large, raucus crowd and the sheer magnitude of things running in his mind, the adrenaline was invoking it's nasty influence. He only tucked and ran perhaps a couple of times. it became apparent, we have no J.T. Barrett or Justin Fields on our hands. Speed and creativeness with his feet is far lacking what we have come to being used to.

a better comp for JTs speed and elusiveness would be Scottie Graham, not Justin Fields

Do any of you think the coaches are telling Stroud not to run???
Also Henderson is like lightning in a bottle. That kid is going to be very very special.

His feet are lightening quick, so is his brain. A good combination, giving him the ability to read and analyze the situation before him. Instantaneous decisions that result in big gains. He's going to be a fan favorite, that will translate to a big NIL deal for TreyVeyon.

Stroud is a pocket passer, he doesn't like to run. In big games he will be made to run.. Against Minny one option play was called, the read told him to keep it, he did and lost a yard. All 4 of Ohio State QBs are Pro style passers, none like to run. This is Ryan Day recruiting QBs now, not Urban.

Other than against this team and Wisconsin, only 2 LBs will be playing on any given down other than 3rd and short. There will almost always be 5 DBs on the field. The "Bullet" and other teams variant is the defense of the day, due to the proliferation of pass first offenses with 3 WRs and a TE

For most teams, staring at the spector of starting the season on the road without both starting CB's (Cameron Brown/Sevyn Banks) and starting OC (Harry Miller) would pose a huge problem.
Turns out, starting in their place, RS freshman Luke Wypler, RS freshman Denzel Burke, RS freshman Ryan Watts, RS freshman Lejond Cavazos, received their baptism by fire. Throw in the expected starters, RS freshman Miyan Williams and RS freshman C.J. Stroud will prove to be a huge plus for the team, moving forward.
There were a lot of other freshmen and RS freshmen that got meaningful minutes as well. The Minnesota challenge, moved the secondary development a couple notches ahead of the normal schedule, got young players experience as well as building confidence, makes the depth chart a little more in focus.

The Ohio State secondary was lucky, I saw 3 interference penalties that could have been called and weren't. Either missed or overlooked
Burke needs to be told to keep his yap shut and act like he's been there before. If not he's gonna cost his team a big game
