Agreed Lantz would have averaged 20ppg or even more. But struggle to win a district title without Pugh. And wouldn’t win 20 games… which without those two things puts a hinder on raising his stock as an all Ohio candidate. But the young man is far from a “role player”. And doing something very few athletes get to do and that’s go to college and have it paid for! Without Pugh on the roster, if Lantz would have been the top target to defend, I disagree his PPG would have increased. We can agree to disagree. It could be argued that Pugh saw the best defense teams had and he averaged 25 PPG. Lantz probably saw the second or third best defender in most cases and averaged 15 PPG. Most teams do not have many good defenders. I give Lantz much credit for his game and accomplishments. And how many more shots per game did Pugh take than Lantz? Without Pugh Lantz gets a lot more shots, by accident he scores 5 more PPG. |

Madison played really well for most of the game. Definitely not the typical Ram teams of years past. They will be a tough team to beat.Shelby was shooting layups most of the second half to turn a close game into a rout.

Beg to differ. Madison is not a good team. No rebounding at all. Once shelby stopped throwing ball away, game was over. Madison at best .500 team.

Madison has been under .500 for 6 of their last 10 years including the last 3 years straight. I bet they would be happy with a .500 record under their first year head coach.

Pleasant losing their first two games to Northmor and Elgin is a bad sign for the Spartans. It looks like 3 straight losing seasons which would be the first time since the 1976-77, 77-78, 78-79 seasons.
ClearFork can't score. The Colts will do better in games against bad teams but getting to 8 wins like a season ago seems to be a longshot.
Highland snuck by a down Fredericktown team before losing to a Utica team that only won 6 games last year. The Scots are not good.
Marion Harding losing to Hayes in overtime is a good performance for Marion. Hayes beat a good Buckeye Valley team in the season opener.
MOAC opening night is a bad slate of games.
RV big over ClearFork
Marion big over Galion
Shelby big over Pleasant
Ontario and Highland - middle of the pack game.
Shelby, RV, and Marion are the top 3 teams with a big gap after that.

IMO this is the weakest basketball league I've seen in a long, long time. Even shelby and harding are not much above average. Let's hope next season is better, hopefully these younger teams will mature and not get discouraged.

Shelby- Harding game was very intense tonight. I would say the championship is going to run through one of those two teams along with maybe River Valley. Rest of the league is way down. Nice effort from both teams though. Should be fun when Harding comes to Shelby in the second half of the season. Sheppard locking down Stokes was huge difference and Holloway had a big game on the boards for the Whippets

THe MOAC will have competitive games. The quality of the games are poor. MOAC is 3-10 in non-conference games.

Wow, Galion takes down Clear Fork...based on that result last night, I'd say on a normal year Clear Fork is looking at 0-22, but with Highland, Galion, Pleasant and Ontario all being so bad they may be able to get a W. Sprinkle in Edison and Fredericktown as chances too.
