Guy, then be more specific. Did I say "all"? Obviously not. We ALL know Coombs won't be here next year. Who else is going to be gone? Don't hide behind generalities.

Watching that Buckeye defense it is easy to say “they still need improving.” One thing I will say is Purdue’s passing offense is no slouch. You have Ball who just went over 1,000 yard receiving after today and a QB whose thrown for over 500 in one game and over 300 in 3 more. Do Buckeyes need to improve yes, did they face a QB who can throw yes. I also noticed the vast, vast majority of the game buckeyes only rushed 3 or 4, putting everyone else in coverage. Purdue still did their thing, because O’Connell can throw. Exactly, through the rest of their Big Ten schedule and The Title game, will Ohio State face a passing attack or a QB close to the quality of Purdue's.

I cannot believe all the whining about the defense. We won by 4 td's. We do need to be incorporating some creative blitz packages, to get more pressure on the QB's. I know Purdue has an outstanding OL, of upper classmen, but we need to do a better job of bringing pressure. Whining? Ohio State’s defense used to be known as the Silver Bullets, I want that back. We aren’t anywhere close to that. Remember what Alabama did to our defense in the national championship game last year? There’s a reason Nick Saban is so good, he demands more from his team and program. The "Silver Bullets" never had to face spread offenses and passing games that the college game has today. How would the Silver Bullets do against Ryan Days offense? Any more there are a lot of teams averaging over 30 points, but very few defenses like Georgia's Purdue's offense ran 2 more plays than Ohio State, but scored 28 fewer points.

Of course I’m speaking of Day, if the defense doesn’t look better than it has at the end of the season, I am curious to see how he responds. Will he make Barnes the full time DC? Will be move on from any defensive coaches? Saban isn’t afraid to do those things and that’s why he’s been so successful.

The offensive scheme has dramatically changed, but you still can have a stout defense. I actually like the matchups the buckeyes have the rest of the year.
I don’t think it’s a stretch, but I whole heartedly believe the buckeyes could and would put up points on the board against Georgia. The receiving core really is that good that 4 guys are out there that can take it to the house at any given time.
It’s going to be interesting how the end of this season plays out. Bucks win out they could find themselves in the #2 spot and god would I love a rematch with Oregon. I would love to erase that bad memory with a 56-31 drumming or heck let’s make it 70-7.

Stout defense are rare today. Not many can slow down the best offenses. Due in part to rule changes that have favored offenses. While averaging over 30 points per game is common place. In games between 2 top teams, if a close game, is it more likely to end 17-14 or 35-28? The scores of the last 10 National Title games: 52-29, 42-25, 44-16, 26-23, 35-31, 45-41, 42-20, 34-31, 42-14, 21-0 I too would love to see it be #1 Georgia, #2 Ohio State, #3 Oregon, #4 Cincinnati

I think it's unlikely CJ Stroud gets the Big Ten's Freshman Offensive Player of the Week Award for this game. Unless Freshman aren't allowed to be Big Ten Player of the Week.

I am hearing that Day has already told high level recruits in some instances that Coombs will not be back as DC. Whether or not Coombs remains on the staff is also doubtful to me because the same folks I hear this from have also said Coombs has turned over his recruits to other more firmly entrenched staff members.

You guys need to loosen up and enjoy this team, with it's amazing evolution from the team we knew in the opening weeks. The defense didn't upset me in the least, halftime we were sitting on a 45-17 lead and that grew to 52-17 in the 3rd Qtr. Fact of the matter, we battled to a 14-14 scoring deadlock 2nd half, after the game was long decided, early on.

Providing that they beat MSU and TTUN they will have earned a spot in the playoff. Should they play Georgia can we say that OSU will slow them down enough to counteract the Georgia defense?
But I'm putting the cart before the horse. They have a brutal end to the regular season plus Big Ten title game if they win out. I still like their chances against Wisconsin if that's the western division winner.

I meant one loss, my bad. If Ohio State beats the 2 Michigan schools, but loses the Big Ten Title game, it will be almost impossible for them to make the playoffs. Has there ever been a team that lost their Conference title game get in? I can't think of one. Of course there is the SEC. They always think 2 of them should get in every year. You said Ohio State is in if they beat the Michigan schools

Notre Dame lost in the ACC title game I have hard time remembering Notre Dame is a member of the ACC,(quasi) in football. As they only play 5 games each year against ACC schools and last year was the first time they were allowed to play in the ACC Title game. Are they allowed to play in the ACC title game this year? If they beat Georgia Tech this week, they will have won their 5 games against ACC schools again this year, as they have the past 3 years in their new agreement with the ACC.
