What is going on at Bucyrus? I know they took their beatings in football but there is no way the talent in that school has dried up that much. There is some talent there, and the kids play really hard. From what I hear, they have some good kids. But, the school itself has become very small. At one time, there was close to 3000 kids (1971) in the system. Now, about 1100. With a shrinking city, a land lock district and tremendous losses via open enrollment, the overall talent pool has become limited. Here is something going on there. www.bucyrustelegraphforum.com/story/news/2022/03/11/bucyrus-lighting-plant-closing-union-still-fighting-save-jobs/9444293002/This is one of, if not the the last big Union plants left in Bucyrus (even though it is now much smaller than it used to be). 174 good paying Union jobs going. Some of these people will find lower paying jobs in Bucyrus, but I think a lot will eventually move their families away, adding to the troubles of the community and schools. Savant in reality, is just a front for interests in CHINA. Please choose to buy "MADE IN U.S.A." when you can.

It’s not just them either cause it’ll be a domino effect of places they spent money too like grocery stores and restaurants. The tax revenue that those jobs bring in is huge for a community. I remember when Lorain Ford shutdown and quick the effects were in Lorain and the surrounding area. When jobs like this go so do communities and people.

That's tough for Bucyrus. Richland County is trying to target companies that would like to be in proximity to the new Intel plant in New Albany, but that is an entire skill rebuild compared to what I suspect the old regime of companies in our area provided. I'm hoping Mansfield can land a few deals, but Crawford County is looking at an entirely different situation. Even if some families choose the Bucyrus area as a home based on any new gigs that pop up in Mansfield, who's to say they would be willing to choose Bucyrus over CC.

Does Bucyrus have an industrial park? There are several in Mansfield/Ontario that could start tomorrow putting up a plant for a supplier for Intel. An airport with runways long enough to land commercial jets. Access to Rt30 and I-71. One hour north of Columbus. A technical college and a branch of tOSU to educate and train the type of employees needed.
