Surprised nobody has brought this up…why would Norwalk not take the bye in that section of the bracket?

Surprised nobody has brought this up…why would Norwalk not take the bye in that section of the bracket? Coach Gray usually won't take a bye

This is how I think the draw went
#1 Huron- Don't know much about the coach, probably similar to Gray and didn't want the bye and chose to travel to Willard #2 Shelby- wanted to stay away from Huron and chose the upper bracket and took the bye. Also, this have been a common theme we have seen since the inception of this Super Sectional. Where the #2 Seed will play at the opposite place. #3 Lexington- travel a shorter distance and took the second day to prepare for who ever they would play #4 Norwalk- Never takes a bye and wanted to travel to Willard but to stay away from Huron. #5 Upper Sandusky- took a bye and seen that Norwalk and who ever would be a better match-up #6 Bellevue- travel a shorter distance and has played everyone who has gone, great match ups #7 Ontario- Probably wanted a bye and took the last bye. #8 Mansfield Sr.- Seen that a slot was open in the upper bracket and seen that they could play Shelby which they almost beat and probably wanted another crack at them. #9 Galion- had to chose between playing Senior, Lexington or Huron. So picked the team which they could possibly match up well and also get another shot with Shelby, who played very well for 3 and half quarters. #10 Vermilion- Choose either to travel over an hour to Bucyrus to play Lexington or go to Willard to face Huron. #11 Clear Fork- Only had one option left

Shelby coach had to go to Bucyrus and took the traditional spot, a bye and scout your opponent. The #1 and #2 seeds have to go to opposite sites. So when Huron took Willard, Shelby had to go to Bucyrus. Lexington coach says distance was not a factor and he did not want a bye spot with a pigtail bracket. Norwalk coach did what he always does, correct. Upper took a bye and plays the lowest seed possible to have a chance to make it to District. Bellevue coach took the bracket that could get him to District without facing the 1st, 2nd or 3rd seeds. Ontario coach elected to take a game against the #1 seed vs taking a same spot against the #3 seed. Mansfield coach will play a lower seeded team and could get a rematch with Shelby, correct. Galion coach took the lowest seed he could play. Vermilion coach to the short distance for a game, correct. Clear Fork, correct.

what has happened to the Colts? The 2002 team wants to know Some will tell you it's a situation of one head coach in the system demanding focus on his sport 12 months a year. Others will say it's plan coaching. Any way you define it, they have no Mark Delany, Rich Hoover, Tyler Ousley or Brennan Bartrum walking the halls right now.

Failed to mention Kevin Logsdon was sitting in the coaching seat with those players. More to the point, what about 3 and 4 years ago, when the records were 17-5 and 18-4? The demanding coach was there then.

Such a stipulation was removed about 6 or so years ago.

It was clearly printed on the paperwork he was given for the tournament seeding. Let me clarify that. It is true for D1 because of the lack of D1 teams in the NW District. There isn't that stipulation for any of the other three divisions.

Thank you but I do not know if I can be any clearer, your coach will tell you that it was on the paperwork from the tournament manager. "Seeds #1 and #2 must go to opposite sites." If this is not a current stipulation, the tournament manager for the Ashland District is not aware of that change.

It is up to the northwest district to determine how seeds can be placed. I know in the fall in volleyball OG was a 2 and went right after 1 Liberty Benton.

I was told that in D1, the #1 and #2 seeds have to go to opposite sides of the bracket, mainly due to the low # of such teams in the NW District. The other three divisions have no such stipulation.

You don't see it often, but I was told specifically by one of the coaches that received a top 2 seed in one of the Northwest Ohio districts that they ALMOST went to the same side as No. 1 and were going to until talking it out with the assistant coaches. Now, if this coach is wrong, I'd be shocked.

Well if it was in print then it would be very easy to get said copy of what was printed and post it. There is evidence of teams actually choosing to do this in the last few years so unless there was a rule change again. Which most of us wouldn't be involved in. I tend to lean towards those who would be in the know. ( Sports reporters and those involved in the programs) Would love to see it factually one way or the other.

Dude, always trying his best to be on the right side of an argument. There is no argument. The paperwork passed out by the Ashland Tournament manager was printed clearly. I used a capital word in the post because it was used on the paperwork.

The top two seeds CAN go to the same half of the bracket.
Like someone else said, post the picture from the Ashland district host.

I am in no way doubting what the NWDAB member said. What I have said all along is ask his own coach and see what the paperwork from the Ashland district tournament manager had. If usramfan can speak with a NWDAB member he can surely talk to his own coach.

response from our girls coach in huron, there were NO stipulations as to where you could place yourself on the bracket, so if 2 wanted to go 1 side they could.

Did you check to see if the Huron girls play at the Ashland D2 District? Maybe you should ask your boys coach since your girls are not involved.
