Sandusky wins lake and gets one guy on first and one guy on second. Clyde and Tiffin finish 2nd and third in the league and get 3 guys on all sbc team. I know coaches vote but it continues to be so political in the sbc.

I wonder if the Tiffin coach realizes this is a slap in the face to him when others say he has more talent but did not win.

The statistics say otherwise unless you want to talk about steals and FT%. Wouldn’t it be more “political” if you put a kid who was on the better team but had worse stats ahead of the better player?

I only pointed out that the SBC Lake coaches feel that Tiffin had more talent than anyone else but yet they did not win the division.

Having one more player on an all league team doesn’t mean you have more total talent. Last I checked there are more than 3 players on a basketball team

Is Honorable mention voted on or appointed? Either way TC had 2 on 1st and 1 on 2nd. I would hope the 1st team guys are more talented than 2nd or HM.

The issue isn’t who has the best team. It’s Sandusky. Period. Tiffin happened to have the 2 top scorers in the league. Honorable mention is voted on. Might as well call it 3rd team. Why does Sandusky have the better team? Better depth of talent which All Conference appears to reflect. No other team had 4 All Conference players.

IMHO, TC was preseason favorite. Sandusky had some ? marks and was entering season with new Head Coach. Like Football, TC somewhat underachieved

After talking to a few people tonight, I am convinced sbc coaches made a pack to stick it to the streaks, and a first year coach who is just getting his feet wet, numbers aren’t everything

I don’t know how Garrett Spaun wasn’t the unanimous River POY and quite frankly, district player of the year. He won the head-to-head against the kid from Margaretta, won twice against Nutter and his team is unbeaten. Oh well, more motivation I guess. He’s as good as I’ve seen in quite a while.

Fair enough, but when you say talent you are only talking 1st team. All I’m saying is Sandusky had more depth of talent. Which is why they are champions.

After talking to a few people tonight, I am convinced sbc coaches made a pack to stick it to the streaks, and a first year coach who is just getting his feet wet, numbers aren’t everything stop it, because you sound like a whiny, little girl. Nobody "stuck it" to your precious streaks. And nobody stuck it to Demar because he's a 1st year coach. Tiffin had a 2nd kid on 1st team because he had better numbers than your kid and Sandusky has more depth (depth doesn't get you on post season teams).

Things that matter when evaluating players for All-Conference, in no particular order but kinda.....
Player stats (not just points, ALL STATS, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals, percentages, etc)
Team Record / Conference Record
Player Attitude
Player Class (Fresh, Soph, Junior, Senior)
Coaches input during award meeting
Looking at the awards across all 3 divisions, I think they got it pretty close to being right. I've seen alot of these kids play over the past 4 years, high school and AAU. Sure, everybody has bias' and you can always make an argument for another kid....(ie. Max Dawson - Willard). It's a tuff assignment, picking all conference.

If if if the coaches of the Lake had reactions or a "pack" in their selection process it would be against the team/players/coaches that they did not like. Sandusky does not fit this description.
