The Bucyrus head coaching job is open again.
Did Barry Egan resign or was he asked to step down? Egan was 9-60 in his three years. Any potential replacements?

I realize the article is pretty much from his perspective, but if it’s accurate then I’m not sure how much more he could have done. Or who could do better. |

There is a reason why Barry Egan has had multiple head coaching jobs and most have all lasted 3 years or less and it has nothing to do with basketball. The article is a great example of that.

Egan has been the head coach at 7 schools and 4 of them have been for periods of longer than 3 years. So you have bad information. Most of his jobs have last longer than 3 years and one that last only 2 years he left to take a position at a much larger school. |

There is also 'reasons' why Bucyrus has never won more than 1 tournament game in a season since 1953 and never having a coach last longer than 5 full seasons is a big reason.
Kudos to Todd Martin for winning a league title in 2003. Legendary season all things considered with that school.

The puzzler on this is that the Bucyrus bosses feel they can attract a better candidate than Egan. I'm not trying to say they had the best coach in Ohio but the those guys will not be applying at Bucyrus. They had a guy that wanted to be there with the knowledge and experience to run a program.

I told someone yesterday that my perception from a distance is that this is a district that makes you wonder if they'll ever get it right. I can probably count up the total # of league titles they've won in the 20 or so years that they've been in the NCC/N10 and not use up all my fingers. In the last year, they have replaced/non-renewed their AD, girls basketball coach, and now their boys basketball coach. When they don't see the desired results, they send the coach packing and the cycle starts all over again. |

The one we're talking about in this topic. I wanted to be sure. I had not heard he wanted to leave Mansfield. Bucyrus does have a couple players that are young and skilled that he could work with. |

I like how the article mentions him playing with Nate but Gifford scored in 3 games his senior season and had 19 points in his career at Galion. It also mentions him being on the sidelines at Wynford with Steve Mohr in 2017 but Mohr did not take the Wynford job until 2018 so that's a head scratcher. |
