Looks like this has been in the works since the middle of Feb but the Ontario job is now open.

I am not surprised by this. I believe Ontario will have a lot of interest. Are you not surprised because you know the parents in Ontario? I think the days of having 30-40 applicants for most jobs are gone. As a D2 school with a growing community it will attract someone. The question is will the parents let him grow and build a program? Balogh is gone and we are seeing the reason he wanted to be done.

Parents have already run off a Volleyball coach that was doing good things and the girls Basketball coach by way of his assistants!

I think the interest will be larger than two years ago. Coaches understand how hard it is to follow a legendary coach. I think some good coaches didn't apply because they didn't want to follow Balogh. Following the coach that followed THE COACH is a different situation.

Good point on not wanting to follow a legendary coach. Plus that was during Covid with lots of uncertainty and a sure rebuilding year or two. Then again, coaches who do some research might be scared off by the turnover for coaches at Ontario. Who is going to want to move from out of area if there is a 2 year window of job security?

gtab, also good scouting and what to do against certain sets is paramount. What I noticed in this game was when Willard ran sets, the Galion kids often looked lost and shocked when a pick was set and usually got rubbed off. A good coaching staff will have his team ready for the beginning of a set, so they know what is coming, to get in the passing lanes and not be taken off the player they're assigned to. Point noted: But I think that's kind of what I was alluding to. If the kids knew it would be coming, they sure didn't act/play like it; so the "coaching" was lacking.

You may be correct but finding a team of high school kids with a very good basketball IQ in today's world can be difficult. Specially if the coach is only in his 2nd season.
