Harding should have won by 20+. Every time it looked like it was going to go way lopsided, Kent would hit some tough shots for Galion. He had a timely 18, but fouled out with 3 minutes to go I think it was, maybe a little more. The difference from 15-20 can be a couple garbage buckets by bench guys in the last minutes of the game when it has been decided. Against a team like Galion a 20 point game can be a 12 point win once benches are cleared because of the way they play looking for quick shots.

Shelby 46 Pleasant 43 Anyone else expect it to be that close? This score surprises me. Pleasant slowed the game down and made Shelby work on the defensive end. Whippets had a nine point lead early in the fourth before Pleasant chipped away and made it an interesting last couple minutes. Shelby played much more team ball on the offensive end and had good balanced scoring. Still a lot to work on.

I suppose that could make sense but if true, I'm still surprised a team that has been down below average the past few years could set the tempo of a veteran team with recent success and a D1 prospect on the floor.

Look for Harding to give another wakeup call to shelby this week. Sure, shelby has two "veteran" letterman starters back, but so far team cohesiveness is really lacking. Have a lot of growing to do before see how good they will be.

Galion @ Clear Fork - could be a close game but I will take Galion.
Pleasant @ Highland - Highland on there home floor.
Marion Harding @ Shelby - before the season started I would have said Shelby but I'll say Harding in a close one.
Ontario @ River Valley - River Valley looks like the best team in the MOAC right now. So the Vikings by 15 points at home.

Shelby jumped out to a 16-0 lead to start the game. Harding never got it below double digits the rest of the game. Tremendous defensive effort and really hit the boards hard. Shelby’s length was a problem all night for Harding. Good contributions from everyone. Bruskotter had 19, but Lantz and Ramsey were both in double figures as well. Hopefully something to build off of with an improved Galion up Saturday afternoon.

A guy I work with was at the Ontario R Valley game last night. He said RV is very physical defensively. Hand-checking, pressing, beat the heck out of Ontario. He said Ontario backed down. Ontario has athletes but can’t shoot.
The scores from the first few weeks shows what most of us thought, R Valley and Shelby with everyone else way behind.

Ontario played a very physical defense against Highland and had a bunch of fouls called them. A lot of their players spent a lot of time on the bench in foul trouble. Some officials call a different game. Not saying RV isn't by far the better team, but physicality isn't an issue. With that being said only Ontario's QB and a WR play basketball. How many Football players are playing basketball for RV? There are different kinds of physical.
IF RV does a lot of "hand checking" and the officials allow them to do it, they are not calling the game correctly.
It is a foul if a player has a hand on the opponent for longer than a couple of seconds. It's a foul if a player repeatedly puts a hand on a player, after removing it after a couple of seconds. An FYI

The OH Report is already calling Kent and Chafin the splash brothers...this team is something. No team can guard these two and not keep pace with Galion. This team will go to state this year and next year since Galion will have everyone back and they will only get better

Ontario starters didn't play after the mid point of the 3rd quarter. Running clock shortly after the start of the 4th quarter. Clear Fork has a football team playing basketball. CF head coach called a timeout in the first quarter when the lead got to double figures. After that none of their 3 coaches got off their chairs, did no coaching and their facial expressions never changed.
Ontario JVs won by 30 something. Freshmen won by 20 something.
Congrats to Galion on their 5 point win over Clear Fork.
