A top 5 matchup with a lot of hype around it in week 1 but it won't live up to the hype. I think the buckeyes roll and cover the -17.5.

Offense: We already know what to expect. On paper they’re the best offense in the country, now prove it on the field.
Defense: I’m not expecting extremely high expectations, with that said I do expect some good improvements that we can take away.
Overall this game will mean a lot for the buckeyes until ND drops another game or 2 during the season.

I might add this is a huge game for a lot of potential recruit, buckeyes have to razzle and dazzle in terms of showing these kids why they should want to be a Buckeye.

Notre Dame 28 Ohio State 17 Ohio St might not win, I think they will but I wouldn’t bet the spread (-17.5). There’s no way they only score 17 points in a game with that offense

The question is and will be the defense until they have a statement game. After the last couple seasons the D has been below the OSU standard.

I don’t put that beyond the buckeyes ability but I think ND scores more than that on a hopefully re-invigorated defense.

ND has never lost to a team 5 times in a row Interesting that you felt the need to lie. I looked up 3 teams USC Michigan Michigan State 2 of those 3 have already beat ND 5 times in a row and MSU has done it twice. How many other teams have achieved this feat? USC vs Notre Dame 2002 44-13 USC over Notre Dame - 1 loss in a row 2003 45-14 USC over Notre Dame - 2 losses in a row 2004 41-10 USC over Notre Dame - 3 losses in a row 2005 34-31 USC over Notre Dame - 4 losses in a row 2006 44-24 USC over Notre Dame - 5 losses in a row 2007 38-0 USC over Notre Dame - 6 losses in a row 2008 38-3 USC over Notre Dame - 7 losses in a row 2009 34-27 USC over Notre Dame - 8 losses in a row Michigan State vs Notre Dame 1955 21-14 MSU over ND - 1 loss in a row 1956 47-14 MSU over ND - 2 losses in a row 1957 34-6 MSU over ND - 3 losses in a row 1958 DNP 1959 19-0 MSU over ND - 4 losses in a row 1960 21-0 MSU over ND - 5 losses in a row 1961 17-7 MSU over ND - 6 losses in a row 1962 31-7 MSU over ND - 7 losses in a row 1963 12-7 MSU over ND - 8 losses in a row 1997 23-7 MSU over ND - 1 loss in a row 1998 45-23 MSU over ND - 2 losses in a row 1999 23-13 MSU over ND - 3 losses in a row 2000 27-21 MSU over ND - 4 losses in a row 2001 17-10 MSU over ND - 5 losses in a row

The aspect of the defensive improvement is something I really look forward to seeing happen. It sounds like Sawyer and JT will be unleashed. Having coaches who I expect a lot out of in terms of imrprovement should be qute interesting to see unfold. Last seasons defenseless performances against Mich and Utah still sting.

Amazing there are four individuals predicting a massive upset this Saturday. Skeptics are fixated on last years defensive shortcomings, despite the fact Kerry Coombs was mercifully relieved of his duties, along with his over-rated assistants Al Washington and Matt Barnes. Jim Knowles is bringing a new day for the Ohio State defense and the players are responding.
I predict it will be equally exciting to see the Buckeye defense performing on the field, on par with the #1 offense in college football.

Watched a replay this am of 1995 OSU-ND game and the one thought that kept popping in my head is that I haven't seen an OSU defense that physical in years. Would surely like to witness a repeat of that physical play this season and yea, I know, the puxxyfoot rules have changed the game since then but we need that type of intimidation at least back on the defensive side of the line.

I just wanna see a defense that tackles well and has 2-3 guys swarming to the ball carrier on each tackle. And, is constantly bringing pressure so the QB doesn't have all day to throw. Lastly no blown assignments which were pretty common all season as we didn't really ever seem to get the best of anyone like we have in years past.

Some of my thoughts..
JSN going out really changed things on offense, just like Ginn in the 2006 title game. When he went out, between losing Wilson and Olave last year they were also without JSN and Fleming. Going WR’s had to step up.
Dawand Jones had 3 false starts. There’s talk of him leaving after this year for the NFL. He better clean that up.
Mike Hall is a beast.
Our defense looked much better. If it weren’t for that one crazy play which led to the TD, they probably would have held ND to no TD’s.
Is Stroud a NFL franchise QB? I dunno.
Georgia and Alabama are the two best teams right at this moment and a bit of a gap between the next group of teams. Just my opinion after todays games.

I also have to keep in mind, Georgia beat Clemson in week 1 last year 10-3 and then went on to win the national championship.

Ohio States defense made progress tonight by shutting down a terrible Notre Dame offense. In recent years stopping anyone at all has been a challenge so credit where it’s due.
Strouds refusal to run makes life so much more difficult for OSU offensively.
