Awesome to hear that your boy is playing baseball this spring gt!
moacofold, or anybody for that matter I understand there will be that pitch count rule spoken of, but does anybody know the actual concrete rules about it? I'm talking how many pitches? Is it certain amount of pitches in a game? A 3 day period? A week? Maybe OHSAA has already stated what it will be, but if they did I must have missed it.

they have not come out with the exact rules or pitch counts but it will be how many pitches you throw in a game and that number will determine how many days that pitcher will not be able to pitch or has to "rest". Some states have come out with their systems but OHSAA will be coming out soon, it is similar to what the Little League World Series does.

OHSAA met last week with a panel of coaches and medical consultants from around the state to discuss this matter. warningtrackpower is correct.... The amount of pitches thrown per day will determine the amount of rest for the individual. It will definitely be interesting when it comes to smaller schools and the number of pitchers that they have. The old rule per OHSAA was 10 innings in 3 days.

NFHS has mandated that all participating states have a pitching rest requirement based on pitch counts instead of innings, but has left the specifics of the implementation up to each individual state. I would expect something very soon because they will be starting preseason meetings for coaches and umpires in January.

Going back to 1929, all classes, the MOAC has had 12 teams play in a state championship game. 6 won 6 loss. Prospect, now part of Elgin, and Iberia, now part of Northmor were each runner-ups. Former MOAC member Ridgedale is one and one in state championship games.

I'm ready for some baseball. I think our team, Galion should be competitive this year. I heard we only lost a few or a couple of seniors. My son said we have a pitcher who's as tall as he is and throws harder too. I'm hoping for a good season. I have no clue what my son is going to do this year. He hasn't played in a couple of years. I think he's going to play 3rd and pitch. He's excited about being on the team though. Galion has a nice looking field..new everything it looks to me...put up like a high backstop/side fence by the dugouts. Galion has sharp uniforms too. I haven't seen them practice yet, so I can't analyze their team.
I will say this..this weather sucks though. Our first scrimmage is suppose to be Monday. I don't know who we play, but I think they are talking rain anyway.

Well I saw our team play against Colonel Crawford yesterday. We won about 8-2 I think, but my mind froze about the 3rd inning. We have some nice pitchers. I saw 3 pitch. Above average speed, good off speed pitches. Very good control for early in the season. I think we walked maybe two. We are a small team who can hit is what I get from watching our team. We look like baseball players. We run the base paths well too. We had one of our best players hit it to the fence on his first at bat. Bounced like maybe twice and hit the fence. Just crushed it.
Tonight we play Wynford, and I'll get to see my son pitch. He batted DH I think. He's not a starter at 3rd. He looked very rusty to me, due to him not playing for like 2 years. He walked his first at bat and scored. Tonight he pitches, so this should be interesting. I'm sure the song "Wild Thang" will playing in my head on his first delivery. haha!
My prediction is going to be Galion places in the top 2 or 3 in our league this year, just based on the sound baseball I saw last night from our team. We can hit the ball, which will keep us in a lot of games.

Weeeellll you know me, I tell it like it is. My son started the scrimmage the other night against Wynford, he didn't make it out the 1st inning. LOL 6-0 by the time he left. He hit a batter, walked a couple and threw wildly out to second base in a pick-off move (I'm guessing that's what that was. haha!) Honestly to give him a little bit (very little) of credit. He hasn't really played baseball since like 10th grade. He struck out two, but any time you haven't pitched that long and your teammates give up 3 errors for you. It's got to be tough. 1st batter up grounded to shortstop..the kid threw wildly to 1st base. Next couple batters up...hit an easy grounder to 3rd, the kid threw in the dirt to 1st base. Next hit...line drive right to an incoming center-fielder..hit his glove..bounced out. Another was a lazy fly ball to left field, that I thought for sure the left fielder should have came in and caught. He let it drop at his feet. There's going to be errors. Hell! I played baseball that's a fact of life. But if you are a pitcher who hasn't pitched in 2 years, that's got to play on your mind a little bit. But my son didn't look comfortable either. He should have been able to make the pitches. He didn't. It's his fault. Thank goodness it was just a scrimmage. Galion has depth in their pitching, not even including my son. I see our outfield being a weakness of us though. We got some work to do that's for sure. We open next Monday against Colonel Crawford. We should be able to beat them. We beat them pretty easy in our scrimmage the other day.
I hope we have a solid season. We seem to have a good group of kids. I'm pulling for them.

You come to BV next week To get league games started GT. They have 1st scrimmage vs Elgin tomorrow. Start season at Lexington Saturday. They should be better but seeing is believing. #1 starter suspended for first 4-5 games won't help.

Moac is gonna be pretty good in baseball I think. Not sure on pleasant cause they lost some and there best hitter transferred to Harding. (Which he smashed a ball that hit off fence first scrimmage) Harding prob finish middle to bottom. Some decent players but only 2-3 real pitchers. JA favored to win it im sure. They're always stacked. Rv has doubkin he's a really good ball player as well.

Both did outstanding in their first scrimmage. So we will see how the season plays out. I'm gonna try and make it to BV to see that game. I also want to say I just checked the schedule. It says we open up at Buckeye Central, not Colonel Crawford. I say good luck to everyone's team. I'm sure JA is the fav. Aren't they the favorite in all boy's sports?

BV beat Elgin 6-1 in scrimmage. Pitching looked strong. They didn't hit last year and early, only 1 scrimmage, but hitting wasn't there again. At West Jeff for last scr, then at Lexington for DH with them and Highland.

BV lost both games on Saturday. 2-0 to Lexington, 4-1 to Highland. The hitting woes continue. had 2 hits 1st game, 1 was an infield bleeder. I'd say had 3-4 hits last game. Kid from highland brings pretty good. BV has a nice freshman player.

WOW! TWO - DIVISION 1 players...that's amazing for a school out in the middle of nowhere. lol
Well Galion opens tonight against Buckeye Central. Of course my job would move my end-of-tour time to 5:00 today. I'm gonna try and go straight from work (Wooster) to the game. There's a chance my son might pitch, and I'm probably going miss it. I'm guessing with BV and league play coming up this week. We want to save our good pitchers for league play. Coach isn't stupid. hahaha! Hopefully he can get his control down and mow them down. Hey! A man can dream, can't he? I wish my team.....THE VERY BEST TODAY!!!!!!! GO TIGERS!!! BEAT BC!!!

Well Galion beat Buckeye Central 10-0 run-rule in 5 innings tonight to open the season. I drove an hour and 10 minutes after work to get there, and they were done already walking off the field as I pulled into the parking lot. ha! So I'm going to drive down to BV to see the game Wednesday..hopefully we can get a win to start league play. We will see. Go Tigers!!!

4, If those two kids are good enough to go a D-I school don't be surprise that you might get some MLB scouts watching them and maybe offer them a contract to play in the minors or maybe just maybe in the majors. Me, I think that they should stay away from them at that age and let them play in college like they do in football.

Yes I can agree that scouts might ask them to enter draft. It happens a lot now. Osu football commit jalen gill was asked to enter the MLB draft. Out of highschool at Westerville south.

Harding won today 11-1 , run rule. Kwauve booker smacked a 2 run shot. He went 2-3 3 RBIs. Could see him playing d1 ball one day. Played old fort btw. Not the best of talent.

Alder opens up the season with two nice wins over Wheelersburg 9-7 & Highland 6-3. Didn't get to see either of the D1 commits for Highland pitch last night, believe they pitched on Saturday.
Defensively we have been as good as I thought they would be. Pitching has been a pleasant surprise so far through the scrimmages and the 1st 2 games. We don't have a dominant #1, a lot of guys that are about the same. More depth with some younger guys stepping up on the mound that saw no Varsity time last year.
Hitting is where I think I see the biggest improvement top to bottom. Think we are solid 1-9. 1st league game tomorrow against Pleasant. Another tough non league schedule on the Horizon (Newark Catholic, Heath, Licking Valley, Desales, Bexley, Watterson, Marysville & Dublin Scioto).
Looking forward to league play.
