Uh, did Ohio State and Northwestern swap uniforms? The Buckeye defense....non existant. The Buckeye offense....great game strategy, throwing into 40 mph winds. I see how that's working for them. Northwestern offense.... has been an effective mix of run/pass and a QB willing to use his feet. Northwestern defense....3 down linemen and zone coverage has worked with the aid of the wind.

Remember when people got mad at me for saying Michigan is a more complete team? Yeah, good times…

Makes me wonder if Ohio State even scouted this team. They appear totally unprepared for this inferior opponent.

C.J. had nothing but open realestate in front of him on the rollout and didn't take it. Don't get the pass, pass approach in these conditions.

Remember when people got mad at me for saying Michigan is a more complete team? Yeah, good times… Yep, just being "fake fans" Some of us are called names and criticized for voicing concerns about this team. Bucks most likely will come back and win but lack of consistent running game haunts us.

Boy, the wolves are circling. The coaching staff needs to adapt to playing conditions. I expect a different team, second half. Zero style points 1st half. (gross understatement)

Northwesterns refusal to even consider passing is making life a lot easier for OSU.

NW finally has the wind back so what do they do? Three straight between the tackles.
Atrocious play calling by NW

With the gale force winds negating the Buckeyes passing game, how do you think it would effect an offense like Northwestern's? It wasn't pretty, but they got the 'W' and that's all that matters. Every team gets an ugly win each season.

Listen I’m just happy I got to see CJ turn on those afterburners on that quarterback keep late in the fourth quarter. That in and of itself proves the kid can run he just chooses not to.

Heck even Michigan found themselves trailing Rutgers at the half.

That’s all this game really means in my eyes, just a “W.” We can go in circles about their struggles and this that and the other all day. Moving on to Indiana.

It is a W that's all that matters. One of best things is that CJ can now be viewed as a threat to run the ball. That in itself is a good message to other defenses and may even help the passing game.

I read that 12 players were not dressing for this game. I heard that on the radio as well. Many of them could have played, as I understand. They said they didn't want to expose them to risk of injury, due to the rainy, wet field conditions.

Like many of you I'm not quite sure what to think about that effort. They have two more games ahead of Michigan and each team has taken a turn at almost picking them off over the last few years. After what Harbaugh pulled a couple of years ago by stiffing OSU a home game and attempting to ruin their playoff chances it would be natural for them to be distracted by 11/26. I also have some concerns about the o-line play. After 2020 if the Bucks do not smack UofM around then they have no business being in the playoffs. The 2020 effort against Clemson is what I have in mind.

Regardless of the breezes in the Windy City. It is impossible for college teams to "get up" for every game these days.
BTW. In Frankfort Michigan on Saturday, there were 45 MPH winds and TWELVE foot waves. Trees down all over the place and some still don't have power.
Do not mess with Mother Nature in Michigan this time of year

The play action fake is much more effective and easier to disguise, with the QB under center. Also, the quick handoff is more of a problem for the defense to react to.

The play action fake causes the loss of 1 second for the QB to go through his progressions. As well as not seeing how the secondary changes after the snap when his back is turned carrying out the fake. THE reason football at all levels has gone to direct snaps to the QB 3 yards deep.

Uh, they run the play action all the time out of the shotgun. Under center, does a much better job of concealing the ball. There's a reason the quarterback sneak or quick hitter is initiated from under center. Most defenses today are ill-prepared to defend certain looks. I'm not suggesting, scrapping the shotgun as the primary formation, just in certain goal-line situations. You need to dust off some of the Rex Kern videos, he was a magician with the football, often fooling the cameraman, most of the fans in the stands, besides the defensive pursuit.
