Thus has ended the 2022-2023 Season. It has been another great year of basketball especially in NW Ohio. Congratulations to all of the teams who won their conferences this year. On to spring sports. Only 8 short months till the 2023-2024 season.

I've been in the Lima area for a long time and have never known O-G to back down from anyone. I would not say that OG is backing down, but I heard they did decide not to continue the games when Lex contacted them for dates over the next two seasons.

3 of them will be a toss-up. Richmond Heights will roll unless they beat themselves. I believe Pick Central will take Hoban to the shed this aged well.

Was shocked at the D1 outcome. Hoban just played harder and got really hot in the third quarter. Built a big enough lead and were able to hang on. The freshman center from Hoban will be someone to keep an eye on. Not terribly gifted basketball player but you can’t teach that kind of size. Loved watching him back his defender under the basket and shoot a little hook shot.

Had lots of conversations with the folks around us. Not really sure what the OHSAA can do to curb these all star teams being assembled. Competitive balance doesn’t really solve the problem. The public schools really do have to recruit to be competitive with these schools. Unless you just have a freaky good class or two (i.e. Norwalk or Lex over the past 10 years).

Goes to show for any school around the area that makes a run in the tournament to enjoy it all you can when it happens. The way it’s going in high school sports these all star teams won’t be slowing down anytime soon.

"Shocked the world"? They went into that season with prior back to back undefeated seasons and and a single loss in the Div 1 tournament. Dropping down to Div 2 in their next season put them as one of the favorite teams in the state. They were likely ranked top 5 in the state the entire season.

For that size and age, his footwork and basketball IQ were outstanding in those two games.

Ask our Willard friends I'm not saying it won them any games but they surely didn't shock anyone since everyone in the state already knew who they were since 2011-12.

Other 3 had 20-30 votes, and Norwalk with 5. I'm sure at least 3 of the 5 were homer votes Pretty remarkable Norwalk beat the defending Champs who were returning 4 Starters. After that game, Norwalk became darlings of sorts; fans were impressed with Truckers turnout especially the student section and to this day fans have commented that was a fun team to watch

Going to a packed house against Ontario was a site to see.

If Norwalk schools are "rural" what is Western Reserve? more rural Compared to Akron, Columbus, and Dayton, I don't think Norwalk being urban applies Just a thought that urban simply means its a city, which Norwalk is. Akron, Columbus and Dayton are much bigger cities. Norwalk is a city school, South Central is a rural school to me.

Official census delineation
rural = country or fewer than 2500 urban clusters = 2500 to 49,999 Urban 50,000+
Norwalk is a "cluster"
OMB(Office of Management and Budget) their definitions
Metro area = Urban core of 50,000+ (not rural) Micro area = Urban core of 10,000-49,999 (rural) Counties outside of Metro or Micro areas (rural)
Norwalk would be rural
Then there is RUCA = Rural-Urban Commuting Area Codes. Which is too confusing to go into

They would probably have 3 titles if they were in Div 2 to begin with. I find this comment pretty funny. I'm not saying you specifically, but I can remember alot of people saying Norwalk couldn't win State because they didn't play a hard enough schedule. Now we're saying that they could've won 3? Let's not forget that Norwalk got 2 huge breaks in that tourney run. One, A.J. Harris broke his ankle in the regionals, which meant Norwalk played Thurgood Marshall instead of perennial power Dayton Dunbar (and that would've been a tough matchup). Two, Akron St Vincent-St Mary lost in the semi-finals. Again, ASVSM was just a bad matchup for Norwalk. I won't say Norwalk was unknown across the State, but they'd never been to State before and were sort of the "unknown commodity" amongst those 4 teams.
