They would probably have 3 titles if they were in Div 2 to begin with. I find this comment pretty funny. I'm not saying you specifically, but I can remember alot of people saying Norwalk couldn't win State because they didn't play a hard enough schedule. Now we're saying that they could've won 3? Let's not forget that Norwalk got 2 huge breaks in that tourney run. One, A.J. Harris broke his ankle in the regionals, which meant Norwalk played Thurgood Marshall instead of perennial power Dayton Dunbar (and that would've been a tough matchup). Two, Akron St Vincent-St Mary lost in the semi-finals. Again, ASVSM was just a bad matchup for Norwalk. I won't say Norwalk was unknown across the State, but they'd never been to State before and were sort of the "unknown commodity" amongst those 4 teams. Norwalk would’ve beaten both teams anyway. If they were in Div 2 the two years beforehand, they would have ran the table.

Very solid points although it seems a little discredit to Thurgood Marshall. TM were Runner-up in 2009 and 2011, and history being a champ, although under different name. Probably would have experienced more success had it not been for Dunbar. Much like Football in relation to Princeton and Moeller in 70s-80s

HAHAHA!! "Shocked the world"? They went into that season with prior back to back undefeated seasons and and a single loss in the Div 1 tournament. Dropping down to Div 2 in their next season put them as one of the favorite teams in the state. They were likely ranked top 5 in the state the entire season. They would probably have 3 titles if they were in Div 2 to begin with. Imagine how many they could win if allowed to play in D4 every year.

That Upper 2005 team was a team that deserves praise as far as tourney schedules go and running the table. They faced the gauntlet in the Regional and at State.
They literally ran AK stV and Dayton Dunbar off the court in Toldeo and Columbus.

Had to start Tournament against eventual State Champions. Insult to injury, Norwalk didn't take the bye. I know it was a Gray pattern not to bye, but perhaps not playing Galion when originally scheduled in 2013 was simply destined?

Keith Diebler is a Colonel Crawford graduate. Do you by chance remember Joe Hord and Jim Shuck? They were before my time, but Hord ended up playing at North Florida Junior College and then at Cal State Bakersfield. After that he played in Portugal and Argentina scoring 30 ppg for Olivarria in 1979 or 1980. A TF article from 1980 mentions him scoring 64 and 63 in back-to-back games in that 30 ppg season, but I don't have anything after that story from May 7, 1980.

None of that surprises me. He was a tremendous player, athletic and fantastic instincts. I was in eighth grade and attended a CC home game vs the high school I attended and was immediately struck by Hord. Smooth, intensely focused but was genuinely having a blast on the court. There was one play that stuck out, Hord went up for a rebound and just threw the ball over his head without looking 2/3's of the length of the court and into the hands of Shuck who took 2-3 dribbles and made a lay-up. Unless there was some type of understanding between the two that this was going to take place I still have no explanation for how he knew that Shauck was breaking long to the opposite end of the floor. The trouble was that he and Shuck spent most of the second half on the bench due to the blowout.

I've been in the Lima area for a long time and have never known O-G to back down from anyone. I would not say that OG is backing down, but I heard they did decide not to continue the games when Lex contacted them for dates over the next two seasons. Just seen on Arbitor that Ottawa Glandorf will be at Lexington next season on Saturday February 17th, 2024. So looks like the Titans and the Minutemen were able to make it happen for the series to continue...
