I've seen very few at not many places, but last night I went to the first game of my half-season package of the Wizards (currently DC-based) and man are they terrible. Was cool to see Luka, and that Mavs won by basically mailing it in. Got the tix to see the teams that come through -- Mavs, Bucks, Lakers, Cavs, Spurs, T-wolves are all in this package. But no good basketball will be played by the Wizards this year, and I expect little to no excitement in most of my games. Bill Simmons would say that moving to LA way back in 2006 or 2007 was great because the Clippers were awful, so you got to see a lot of good teams at a good price/seat without all the traffic and stress that it was *your* team that stunk. Hard to knock this strategy you took on for the Wizards. Nice timing with the T-Wolves playing good this year as well. I also find the bad teams are somewhat comforting. I have ties that align me with a lot of the New England teams, but I grew up rooting for them with an appreciation by being around a bunch of miserable Cleveland fans. Turns out, I liked the Red Sox but hated their fans. Found myself being much more able to enjoy the company of Jets/Mets fans who talked about misery like my friends who are Browns/Indians/Guardians fans.

^I've been to BGSU Hockey a handful of times, and been to Yost Arena at UM Yost at UM is very similar in design to Northeastern in that it has that short upper deck that almost reminds you of a classic Indiana HS basketball gym. Providence had a weekend series at Yost this season, and I couldn't pull off going there again. I would've liked to, of course. My Friars play in a 3,000 seater that is just a lower bowl. When they won the National Title in 2015, a donor bankrolled a new arena and they mainly revamped the lobby/parking for the old one. It's still a cool matchbox feeling that I enjoy. Only downside to college hockey is no fighting allowed! Though when it happens, I'm usually tickled that the players are trying to get their money's worth for the act.

Bill Simmons, Ha! Boston Sports homer, but left Beantown for LA. Even he knew it was better out there.
He got the business when Lakers beat Celtics, Game 7 2010 Finals. True story

Simmons also had a pretty nice gig with the Jimmy Kimmel show I believe. Must be nice to get your career/writing inspirations jumpstarted by several titles by your teams. And once the big bucks came in, why not. It did soften him up a bit. I think it's much easier to be humorous and ranty when times are bad.
I've gotten away from Simmons as he quit writing as much as he once used to. He always had some clever ideas on how to keep Manny Ramirez happy during his Red Sox days.

Wiz setup was pretty nice this past weekend when Wemby was in town. He looks like a baby deer, but was the leading scorer on the night with ~24. Also had 6 turnovers, Spurs had 20 as a team.
Ugly game between two teams at 7-30+ ended with the Wiz blowing an 11 point lead with 5 min remaining.
