Shitshow by Galion. There was a bad call at end of first half that shifted things. Couple injuries on Galion’s side, but they’re getting their a ss handed to them. Shelby may win the league. Shelby threw 2 picks and fumbled a kick early or it would have been worse.

Galion will roll, they have too many weapons and the defense is too tough and this will be the best team Shelby has seen and they will not be able to handle all aspects. Galion 56 Shelby 7 If you only would’ve picked it the other way, you would’ve been damn close to picking the right score.

Shelbys defense was lights out tonight. Credit both offensive and defensive lines for dominating. Long season yet and ontario looms ahead Don't overlook Highland either but shelby was very impressive even with 3 turnovers

I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but someone more tech savvy than me can get my post from the week four thread. Everyone one selling Shelby short and mine and a couple of other Shelby posters comments may have been to blame. We were getting on them about their play in the trenches. They stepped up last night. It would have been worse had it not been for some bad tackling in the first half. Both of Galion’s drives were based on big plays where 2-3 defenders made contact with the running back in a position for only a short gain and just didn’t wrap him up. I also think a big factor in the second half was which team had more two way players.

The one long run Winters had in the third quarter, my fat *** could’ve ran for 30 yards through that hole. The last run by Winters, looked like Galion pretty much gave up…he trucked one guy twice. Shelby did miss tackles and took bad angles on all four scoring plays.

I brought up a pursuit angle drill we did that doubled as a conditioning drill back in the day and said Shelby could use it. I watched a guy miss a tackle because he aimed where the kid was instead of where he was going.

I think you are missing the main problem people had with Carroll. It was not that he pushed kids or coached them with intensity. I believe most people appreciate that aspect of his style. But it is what dude referenced "...As for the accusations against him, they have been made for the last 14 years..." Those accusations are what people wanted to see handled. Mainly the alleged verbal abuse/name calling. I agree that x and o wise he was pretty darn good most of the time, and clock management and some in game strategy things could be considered his weakness. But I do agree that they could definitely be headed towards the cellar if there are no improvements made. IMO tonight will tell the story for the rest of the season. In part I think you may have been missing the point I was making. These accusation had been going on for 14 seasons and they were minimized because most of them were made by upset parents who had boys that decided to walk away from playing or at least were not playing enough to satisfy them. On top of that the former coach had some very popular/powerful support in the valley. In his final year of coaching, one of his biggest supporters now became one of his upset parents so he had to go.

Coaches are going to play the players that give them the best chance of winning or they are not going to be around for long. When I coached I told the players and parents at a preseason meeting every year that the best 11 would be on the field no matter the past season's starters. If your son isn't cutting it on the practice field I accept no criticism for them not getting to play in the game. If parents or players came to me with complaints I would lay it out for them what they/their son needed to do to get more playing time. Knowing the man he is I find it hard to believe Coach Carroll wouldn't do the same if instead of complaining to the school you actually spoke with him.

If he wasn’t playing the best kids think of how good CF could have been.
If some of the rumors were even partially true he got dangerously close to the line. I know Shelby’s chain gang pretty well and they said he crossed over being hard on them to degrading at times and they’re old school guys themselves.
You would hope both sides would have had a sit down and found a compromise. Maybe they tried. Either way both are living with the consequences.

Currently there are many yard signs in the valley reading "We Want Dave"
