So I figured this is going to be a topic of discussion and might as well get it going now.
For me it simply comes down to McCord. Will he elevate and come into his role or will he lean on others. Buckeye nation has seen QB’s lead by example for a while now and there is no other expectation for McCord in my opinion.

Officially Notre Dame week.
Solid performance today though from Ohio State to slow down that WKU offense. If we had been able to get that fumble early in the game when they scored a few plays later, we would’ve held them to no TD’s. Mccord keeps getting more comfortable as well, although WKU’s defense isn’t great. Next Saturday will be a big test for him.
And I feel like the backup DE’s Jackson and curry are better than Sawyer.

Buckeyes are a slight 3.5 point favorites.

Time to find out a lot about this team. I'm very excited for this game.

This game is going to check a lot of boxes for the winner. Does McCord stand out and will our DE’s finally show their “elite” talent. I can honestly see this going either way. Ohio State has the talent gap, but we’ve all seen before that means nothing and the less talented team can come away with the victory.
I see something along the lines of a….
OSU- 32 ND-24

Fired up for this game, but very worried. We were down 10-7 late in the 3rd quarter last year with Stroud throwing the ball. Only up 14-10 late in the 4th quarter with Stroud. That was year 2 of Stroud, McCord may be polished later in the year but he's still rough around the edges right now. If we had that much trouble scoring last year scoring with Stroud then I expect similar results this year with a less polished passing attack.
I'm thinking both teams score 20 or less points in this one, 17-14 type of score.
I'm going to go with 17 - Notre Dame 16 - Ohio State McCord leads the team down the field for the game winning 41 yard field goal attempt, but it misses wide left. Hope I'm wrong and we win. I hate Notre Dame, just not as much as I hate Michigan.

I hate Notre Dame, just not as much as I hate Michigan. People were complaining about Stroud last season just like they are about McCord this season. Now Stroud is tossing TDs on Sundays while Day breaks in a brand new QB with very little OSU experience. This game worries me as well but all the big ones do. I see this season as one that the QB does not have to WIN the big games, only not lose it. I do not see McCord as the same option as Haskins, Fields or even Stroud. IF things had worked as planned, Ewers would be a soph starting QB for the Buckeyes this year.

Tossing TDs?? Stroud has 2 thru 2 and has pretty muched sucked in the league like every OSU QB to get there.

2 years from now he'll have a job he can't suck at or he'll be looking for another. And where am I wrong?

Back to the game....
So far, I am still under the impression this is going to be a game. I think a lot of people are falling into the last 5 games and won by double digits talk too much if you ask me.
Kyle just needs to manage the game and Day needs to cook up a plan that is more than delicious.
I would love to see two RB's with 100+ yards rushing and of course MH Jr. hitting a 100 rack and a couple TD's.

McCord just needs to manage his plays and let the wideouts and running backs do their jobs. He doesn't need to be a hero. No turnovers, limit sacks and move the chains.

One thing is for sure, this is the worst offense(at least so far this season) that Ohio State has had since Urban took over.

Defense is great though and has been all season. First time in several years that the defense has been better than the offense.

Notre Dame had about a half dozen opportunities to end this one in the last five minutes. Starting with Freeman throwing the ball on second and fifteen instead of keeping it on the ground and keeping the clock moving.
ole nick saban won a lot of games handling the end of games strictly by the book.

Crazy thing about getting the win is that Harrison was basically a non factor and still found a way to win. I agree that won’t happen against Michigan or Penn State with pulling off a miracle at the end.

Ohio State should have realistically won this game 28-7. Too many mental errors on offense.

That 3rd and 19 throw to Egbuka on the 1 yard line was so clutch. Mccord might not be Stroud but that was a hell of a drive by him.

I'm thinking both teams score 20 or less points in this one, 17-14 type of score. I'm going to go with 17 - Notre Dame 16 - Ohio State Game played out pretty much the way I thought it would, low scoring and coming down to the final play. Always great to come away with the W. Getting stuffed on 3rd and 4th and goal from the 1 in the 1st half. Same ole Ryan Day regime. Punching it in from the 1 to win the game. Hopefully a MANHOOD changing TD for Ryan Day's regime. I am still not a Ryan Day fanboy. Urban Meyer at Florida won 2 National Titles by reliably punching in TD's in short yardage on the ground Urban Meyer at Ohio State was UNDEFEATED vs Michigan by reliably punching in TD's in short yardage on the ground Trayanum is THE best short yardage back on Ohio State Ryan Day YANKED him in the 1st half on that 3rd and 1. Ryan Day blew it. I called it while watching the game live. I said "Ryan Day you are a moron, Trayanum should be in." Then proceeded to watch Williams get stuffed. He gets stuffed a lot. Then I watched Ryan Day throw it cuz he was scared to try running again. Soft. Ryan Day SMARTLY left him in for the game winning TD. Year 5 of Ryan Day and only 1 win vs Michigan. Be a MAN Ryan Day. Be a MAN.

It seems that on the last two plays of the game last night Norte Dame had ten men on the field 😂😂😂. How at this level do you allow that to happen?

Harrison was a factor because he drew double coverage which opened things up for Stover and EE.
KM getting better and better each game . JJ From UM getting worse
Day needs to do better in Goal line situations i agree.
Take the W and enjoy the bye week.
First hurdle cleared !

ND controlled the ball since we could not stop the run. Penn State plays like ND only looks a little more athletic. I'm worried about the 10/21 game but luckily it's home.

ND coaching staff lost this game. All they had to do was run as much time as possible off the clock then punt. OSU would have been in a much worse position than they were when they got the ball back, out of time outs, with about a minute left. Even if OSU would have gotten to the same position they were in with 3 seconds left, ND staff should have seen that they only had 10 men on the field at the goal line and called a time out to get a DE at the spot OSU ran to.
Ryan Day was lucky and looked ridiculous proclaiming how tough the Buckeyes are. The people he was railing against would have been saying "see, we told ya so", if the ND coaches had played it right, and Day would have been full of excuses. Don't tell me how tough you are, show me. Sorry about the rant, I'm starting to move to the Rambo point of view.

Freeman said after the game he told his player to just stay on the sideline so they don’t get a penalty. Although that probably would’ve been the better way to go since it would’ve just been a penalty of half the distance.
