Methinks Penn State may have awaken the giant... we will see. If you recall, after the debacle in East Lansing last season, playing sub par football, in hurricane conditions, the caliber of play thereafter ramped up dramatically, right through Ann Arbor and on to the bowl game. Can't get too critical of a team, recognized as the most youthful in all of college football, making a couple costly mistakes, resulting in a stunning upset, before a hostile crowd of 105,000 screaming fans. This team will learn from this and use this experience to improve and develop.

Regardless of an OT win and a loss by Ohio State vs the most improved team in the country since week one. ALSO Ohio State is coming off back to back 8:15 starts on the road. A young, physically and mentally tired team. AND next week Ohio State places Nebraska who is ranked AHEAD of Ohio State in the Coaches Poll. I would take the 24 1/2 and am more worried this week than last.

the weather down here wasn't that bad last year for MSU, there was no torrential downfall of rain
it was cold and a little windy, typical weather for Ohio this time of year

Both teams had to play in it. Our problem is we're still suffering from Tom Herman syndrome, We miss you Tom.

I really hate the weather excuse. Both teams have to play in it. It is Ohio, what do you expect? FL like conditions year round during the season? OSU lost, stop the excuses.

I pulled up the MSU/OSU game and watched it's entirety. Contrary to my perceived memory of that game, weather was not a major factor that day. Truly a defensive struggle, that came down to the final drama of the 42 yd. FG attempt by Michael Geiger with 3 ticks left on the clock to defeat the Buckeyes. No excuses....

From today's Columbus Dispatch:
"One of the fallouts from Ohio State’s loss at Penn State is that the Buckeyes are suddenly in the position of rooting for Michigan.
Yes, you heard that right. OSU needs the No. 2-ranked Wolverines (7-0 overall, 4-0 Big Ten) keep winning, at least until they come to Columbus for the regular-season finale on Nov. 26.
If not, and Michigan finishes with more than one Big Ten loss and Penn State ends the regular season with only one league defeat, then the Nittany Lions would be crowned East division champions because of their head-to-head win over OSU.
Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune pointed out in a column this week that if OSU, Michigan, and Penn State all finish 8-1 in the Big Ten East, the division title would go to the Buckeyes because the league’s tiebreaker punishes Penn State for its nonconference loss to Pittsburgh.
That presumes not only that Penn State doesn’t lose another game, but that Michigan comes to OSU undefeated and the Buckeyes then defeat their arch-rival Wolverines.

NW hanging in there. Lets face it though the Buckeyes are not worthy of a top 4 spot, there are more dynamic better teams out there. I think OSU loses at home to UM and loses big. UM fans will finally have their day when it matters and will be in the playoffs and might be the only team that can hang with Alabama.

The Buckeye offense will begin the improvement curve as the offensive line develops, but not one moment before.
It was good news to learn Paris Campbell's leg injury, turned out to be a tweaked ankle. Hope he will be available vs. Nebraska.

The O line is still a work in progress. Until that solidifies, OSU will struggle against top teams. At least this year I really do not believe OSU is a college-playoff caliber team -- way too young. Of course, I am not convinced that the others (including the chosen one bama) are that much better.

Of course, I am not convinced that the others (including the chosen one bama) are that much better. I totally agree, but let's wait and see what this team becomes in the final coming weeks. With only 6 returning starters, patience must be the key word for the coaching staff and patience must be asked of all the Buckeye faithful. This is a developing process that is in the hands of a great coaching staff. Is this a playoff caliber team at the moment? We can agree the answer at this point is.....No. Does this team possess the talent to become a playoff team? Yes Will they be a playoff caliber team at seasons end? That remains to be answered.
