That win was huge last night. Watching the game you could see the air being taken out of the Cubs fanbase lungs as the innings passed by. It was like watching a sad story, almost like they thought they were going to smoke the Tribe last night and when they realized by inning 6 that, that was not the case, the depression started to set in. The tribe got the bats swinging and mustered out a run against a really tough pitcher which is what they need to do. Stop watching strikes, and swing. We do not have the luxury lineup to watch strikes.
I see Bauer is set to pitch in game 5. Chalk that one up as a loss.

7-2 win to take a 3-1 series lead. Also the first time in this series and first time in quite a few playoff games this year that the team that scored first did not win.

Sure wish my father would have lived to have experienced this season. There was no greater Tribe fan than my dad. Whether he was sitting in his favorite chair doing crossword puzzles, doing wood projects in his workshop or sitting on the porch swing, he always had the Indians on his radio. The Tribe was often 23 games out of 1st place by July and sometime lopsided scores behind, but that didn't matter, he hung on every pitch and every swing of the bat. He took me to many Cleveland games and even met Herb Score. Don Mossi, Gaylord Perry and Bert Blyleven with my Dad. Still have some signed baseballs. I think the Tribe is going to win it all and I'm relishing every pitch, every swing of the bat, as much as I know my dad would have.

Need one more. Tonight would be great. Part of me wants Merritt and the pen instead of Bauer and the pen. Merritt has such a small body of work but maybe Bauer can have one of those games that make the last couple weeks go away.

Since Bauer is starting and will shake off most of the breaking balls Perez will call for, I'm hoping for an 8-7 win.

i agree that Bauer overthinks his sequencing and uses too many pitches but he was serviceable in his last start, the really bad ab he gave away to Rizzo though was pretty awful There is no reason for a pitcher to think about what pitch to throw next. Concentrate on the execution of the pitch the catcher calls. A perfect example of that type of concentration is what Klubot has. Heck last night with with 2 outs and a man on first he didn't even care if the runner stole 2nd base. His sole purpose was to get the batter out and he KNEW he would, so why worry about the base runner. I've noticed what Boston, Toronto and the Cubs all have in common. What a bunch of whiners, hitters and pitchers. The home plate umpire MUST be making bad calls. What else could explain them being dominated by Cleveland? On the other hand the Cleveland hitters and pitchers maintain their mental purpose and just move on to the next pitch, batter and next inning.

I see Bauer doing his own thing again, not sticking with the plan, shaking off Perez, and losing. Wouldn't mind seeing a game 6 back in Cleveland, Tomlin pitching the best game of his career, and winning the MVP award, for his Dad, And celebrating the WS championship at home. (wishful thinking, I know). Or after Bauer gives up too many runs, and is pulled, Our bats come alive again, our bull pen saves the day, and we win it tonight. These 8pm games lasting till mid night is wearing me out, not getting enough sleep,LOL.

Points made by FOX broadcasters about the Indians being built like a NL club and the Cubs built like an AL club are well taken. Plus beating KC Royals and the Tigers who usually are tough was also taken. The atmosphere of frenzied fans does not bother the tribe and they just go about their business.

Not a baseball fan in any way, but it would be great to see Cleveland win another major sports championship. However, I kind of hope it happens in game six, so they can be at home to celebrate it with their fans...

Bauer just can't get it done and I think those of us who have watched a lot of Tribe ball this year get that. Tomlin game six and Kluber game seven if needed? I think the Tribe has this at home.

My brother told me that Baseball Today?? did a piece (with no comment) that the sCrUBS pitchers got 80% of the corner calls strikes thus far vs 20% for the Tribe. Don't know if that is factual or not, but sure seemed like the strike zone favored Chicago. The one that I really complained about was the so-called walk JT gave up on a ball right square in the strike zone. Didn't come back to bite us, but I thought WOW! Still feel MLB, media and the big money boys are doing all they can to insure a sCrUBS WS victory...that's where the smart money is boys and girls! What a story that would be, they could happily proclaim! Some people say an inconsistent or erratic strike zone doesn't matter, but it forces a pitcher to change his method of attack and is clearly an advantage to hitters.

Bauer's method of pitching was altered on his own, not by the umpires. He was doing really well when he was working fast, Then a couple of hits, Then Bauer slowed it way down for some stupid reason, the Cubs kept hitting him then. Made no sense of what he was doing. Hope Tomlin throws a no hitter tomorrow nite, Gives the MVP award to his Dad, Hope his Dad can make it to the game, That would be nice.

With the advances of technology moving it's way into all sports, perhaps we'll see a computerized strike zone in our lifetime. The umpire would simply be a monitor and oversee the other elements of responsibility behind the plate. It's got my vote.

In reality, the Tribe's pitching (for the most part) has not been bad considering who they have had to count on. Take the cubs #2 and #3 pitchers away, throw in a head-case replacement and a raw rookie, and this series probably would not have gone five games. But it is what it is. The reality also is that the Tribe's outfield production for the series has been nothing short of pathetic. Unofficially, in looking at the box scores, I think the Tribe outfielders (including Santana when he was in the outfield, Martinez and Guyer) have gone a combined 6 for 57! Ouch and double Ouch! While hitting is usually down in the WS because of the usual quality of pitching, this has really hurt the Indians. Chis is 1 for 14, Davis 3 for 17, Guyer 0 for 6, Nanquin 1 for 7 among others. Can't rely on Kip, Frankie, Ramirez and Santana to do it all in every game. Everyone was worried about Perez behind the plate, but he has held his own and is worth his wait in gold defensively and in calling pitches. Just a few thoughts, nothing more.
