What a game. Very entertaining to watch and hard fought on both sides. Props to the Lex coach for having the intestinal fortitude to go for 2 in the OT. That number 8 is a beast. The lack of speed on both teams surprised me a bit. Not a good omen having to match up with Sandusky.

You may not know but Wooster was picked to win the OCC and during their seson had so many injuries they had to cancel their freshman games due to kids moving around to fill spots. Wadsworth was 5-5 but played a schedule your Tigers has never seen. Nine D1 & D2 schools. 5 of them with winning records. Half of their opponents this season are playing in week 11. There worst loss was to Wooster in week 2. Norwalk was a loss and I make no claim of their talent other then they finished with a winning record. But being at that game I will say it was not a defining game as you indicated for Clyde with Bellevue. All I am asking is why did someone say Clyde and Lexington are evenly matched? I want to see some thoughts on that. How about the game going into overtime? I would say that would mean they are evenly matched I was not debating the teams being evenly matched. I wanted to know the thoughts on why they felt that way.

When in the coach's shoes, going for 2 was the best option.

Interesting that he chose to go for 2 in OT, but not after their last TD in regulation with 1:09 to play.

In the paper it said he asked the players what they wanted to do. They said go for the win.

Best guess is with time on the clock for Clyde to move the ball down field into field goal range, which their kicker is pretty good, the higher percentage PAT to tie would at lest take them to over time.

Well Clyde's coach certainly wasn't calling plays like he had a good field goal kicker.

The way he was managing the clock, had the pass not been intercepted they would have had time for a field goal attempt.

From where he was sitting on the field it would have been a 47 yarder. If a field goal were even an option in his mind he would have thrown another quick out and gotten 5-10 more yards to make it an easier kick.

Still would of been a long Field Goal. Prob 35 would of been his max based on what I saw this year (Ashland game)
Again two pretty even teams, either one gets smoked by Sandusky.

I was sitting with my Clyde insider and was informed that anything over 35 yards would be pretty iffy.

Remember, the game was tied so the worst case was overtime. So what the goal was for the Clyde coach at 1:09 may have been a little different at :10 in the game. Since they had won every game by more than a field goal I cannot say for certain what was going thru his mind. But if you were at the game you saw some pretty good kicking during the game and a nice kicking leg in pregame.

Was a great high school football game! Lex had to go for two at that point as they looked to be getting tired. Hats off to Clyde, they have a great football program and great faciliies.

Yes they do have great facilities. First time watching a game there. Loved how the stands essentially butted up against the track. Just seemed like we were much closer to the field.

Now I'm really starting to doubt if you were because I saw absolutely nothing from their kicker pregame, in game, or otherwise to lead me to believe he was going to make anything from 40 yards or more. When I was told over the course of the game that 35 was about the limit I believed it.

Did you not see kick offs? Did you not see him warming up? Did you not see a punter kicking 50 yard punts during warm up? I was there and saw all of these. I'll repeat. "Best guess is with time on the clock for Clyde to move the ball down field into field goal range..." IS that accurate or did that change as time was winding down. I don't know. That is why I said "best guess". I can guarantee that we both saw Lexington win. On to week 12.

Given that he RAN the ball to begin the series "best guess" was that the Clyde coach was playing for OT. Only AFTER a run broke across mid field did he even attempt a pass. Opting to pass into the end zone with 8 seconds left rather than running a quick out route(which they had been successful with throughout the game) to get into field goal range tells me a field goal was never in consideration.

As I said, best guess is with time on the clock for Clyde to move the ball down field into field goal range. He was not concerned about needing a touchdown since OT was the worst he could do.
