Shelby defense is dominate in 1st half, Philo only earned 1 first down and got 1 given to them by officials. Shelby with 3 turnovers, 1 deflected pass INT and 2 fumbles...thankfully it didn't hurt us. Philo D doing a pretty good job of loading box and stopping the run, but Armstrong shredding them through the air...24 more minutes to go to history Whippets...

Another turnover when Philo punted and the ball grazed a Shelby player and they recovered. Without turnovers this is a running clock.

Looks like SHS v.s. SHS next Friday night for the regional flag! Shelby back in the regional championship for the first time since 1998!!

End of 3, Shelby 34-6. Philo kid should have gotten ejected for throwing Shelby kid down by facemask and apparently throwing punch...but Shelby gets 2 penalties against them and only 1 on Philo...makes no sense...

To my knowledge Shelby has never been in regional championship game, in 98 they lost in week 12

That's garbage! Hopefully we get out of this with no injuries or suspensions. Philo might not have the discipline/class to bow out gracefully.

SportsNut, That was before the playoff expansion to 8 teams. In 1998 only the top 4 from each region made it in to the playoffs. Shelby beat Poland in the semis and then lost in the regional championship to Beloit West Branch. Now it takes 2 wins to get to the regional championships, then it took 1.

Philo getting dirty now, it is bad, they are purposely doing stuff with the intent...they have now had 3 unsportsmanlike conduct...

Yup, I'm not sure about some of the first round opponents that the expansion offers. Overall, I know it's awesome to have that home playoff game, but it just feels like a majority of the teams that slip in at #7-8 are fodder for the higher seeds. I understand Philo took the number one seed in the region to the woodshed, but in the overall sense across the board I'm not sure if there's much value added with respects to added exposure to injury, travel costs, etc. I'm not sure if the jump from 4 teams in each region being invited to the playoffs to 8 was too much?
Anyways, this program is starving for a regional championship, and here's hoping we hang one on Steubenville next week!

Lol! Shelby's subs should be well prepared for varsity play in the coming years. Go SHS!

The problem is there are to many divisions

I can see that being a problem as well. Seems like the expansions (both) have watered things down a little.

Great game by the Whippets against a severely overmatched opponent. Philo was quite possibly the dirtiest team I've ever seen. The officials never took control of the game and it got out of hand in the second half. Was told Rose and Armstrong both got kicked in the head. Last two teams they played before last night they took out the starting QB with broken legs. It's over. We won. Moving on to week 13.
