Best teams, best swimmers back and best newcomers in NW Ohio?
D1 Girls - Maybe Fremont Ross even though they lost 3 or 4 very good swimmers. Very good sophomore and freshman classes.
D1 Boys- St. Francis, Findlay and maybe Ross
D2 Girls - ?
D2 Boys - ?

Maybe Ontario in DII, even though all the boys who completely rewrote the NOL record book in just 2 years have graduated.

Last year's D2 boys champion Wapak loses their two time district champ Charlie Sutton to graduation, which will hurt them some but they will still compete. 2016 runner up Lexington only loses one of their good distance swimmers, Jack Bennett, while third place Lima Shawnee loses two of their top guys. Lexington doesn't really have any stand out swimmers but has enough depth to get points in almost every event, so I pick them to win it.
Last year's D2 girls champion Napoleon only loses one of their top swimmers to graduation with Andrea Edland, as does 2016 runner up Wauseon with Kasey Darnell. Third place Lexington loses a few of their top swimmers to graduation and will still have a solid team, just maybe not solid enough to compete for the district title. I pick Napoleon to edge out Wauseon for the championship.
Ontario was close to cracking top 10 at districts last year and I believe they can this year, but it won't be near enough to put them in the top 5, largely because they lack depth beyond their three or four top swimmers.

I pick Celine to win the boys. They have 6-7 guys that crank and it should be enough to win it all. Lexington returns all but one of their state qualifiers including one of 5 freshman in the state to qualify in all four events Wilson Cannon (200 free and fly.) They have some sophomores that can also get up and go but will miss senior leader Jared Galat who tore his ACL during the football season. Look for them to push two relays to 2nd team All-Ohio. Ontario should be top 10 this year. But won't push for a trophy.
On the girls side, look for Napoleon to push for the district and don't be surprised if Lexington does also. Despite what they lost, they probably have one of the best freshman classes in the area and still have Alli McFarland (IM and breastroke.) Also don't be surprised to find them pushing all 3 relays All Ohio and possibly two of them First Team

Good luck to all Ross swimmers tomorrow at sectionals, step one to the road to state. Girls could have 4 make it (one freshman and 3 sophomores) and maybe 3 relays. Boys could have 2 make it (one freshman and 1 junior) and two relays. Good Luck Coaches
