With Edison still alive in the state championship hunt I figured I would look at the future of the SBC next year.
1. Huron will return an elite offensive line. Lead by Sam Steinmetz, the Huron offensive line for 2017 should be formidable. Steinmetz will be assisted by returning seniors Gabe Bradfeild, Preston Fowler, and Kyle Omert.
2. St. Marys will be a contender. Lead by returning skill position players such as Zach Diebold St. Mary's should pose legitimate match up problems on the perimeter.
3. Adam Hagelberger will anchor a stout polar bear defense who looks to compete in 2017.
4. Rumor has it Paul Hinckleys son Joe will look to transfer this off season.. destination unknown Im told Joe would like to play in the SBC.
5. Zimmerman (stud basketball player from St. Marys) will look to play football next year.
6. 6'10 Tight End Austin Gardner who previously went to Toledo Central Catholic will play for the Edison Chargers next fall.

I couldn't agree with you more this offseason will be great. That Hinkley kid is going to make the difference for one of these teams. That stacked Huron line will be studly and Diebold from SMCC has SEC type speed. Kids a BLAZER!

Lyle- any idea where Hinckley will land? Worked with Paul a few years ago and knew his son Joseph who played at St Paul. Real nice family. I heard Paul may be taking over the St Paul job for Livengood? If so, that would be huge.
I've heard a lot about Diebold and am excited to see him play. Not often do we get a kid receiving sec interest around this area.
In another exciting off season development for Huron- just received word that stud tiger wrestler Kyle Omert will take the football field next fall for the tigers. I stopped by Pouses tractors this morning to confirm. This tigers team will look totally different next year, should be a state title contender.

Huron a state title contender? Did you mean to say pretender? Can not see the current Huron staff turning this into a state title contender, Unless there's some changes made to Sam's staff they will be pretenders.

Several new players and a few transfers will make this team a title contender. Sam Hohler has also announced a few new additions to the staff. Sandy Rosenberg will take over as the strength and conditioning coach. She brings 20+ years of division one college experience. The Tigers are also gaining transfer student Jack Heil from Michigan. He was an all state performer (QB) for Ann Arbor Pioneer. His mother moved to town after accepting a job at Firelands Hospital. Go tigers!

These new players we're seeing are going to make them The best team in the area. omert, hinckley, Fowler and steinmentz will be doing lots of action up front for the tigers. I would be shocked To see them make their way to state. Look for Sam hohler to get the most out of his boys. Go tigers

lyletint3, unless there is another Joe Hinckley he is no longer in high school. The one I know transfer from St. Paul to Norwalk Sr. in 2012 or 2013 and Graduated in 2014 and I believed that his father never was a coach. Like I said there might be another Hinckley but if I'm right you must have been given a wrong name. I also checked St. Paul's roster and they don't show anybody by that name.

Death, I agree it must be a different Joe Hinckley, The Joe Hinckley that I know played QB for ST. Paul as a Freshman and Sophomore then transferred to Norwalk High and played defensive back as a Junior and Senior for Norwalk. I don't think he has any brothers (not sure about that though). I have not heard of his dad ever coaching anything.

Gibby and Death- you guys are thinking of former St Paul great Joseph Hinckley. He has a younger brother just named Joe. Probably even a better player and athlete. He is an incoming freshman. From what I've heard in talking to his dad he could land in the SBC, more than likely huron. Apparently there was some bad blood left at St Paul so he has decided to take his talents elsewhere. Joe could make an immediate varsity impact. Once saw him score 12 touchdowns in a middle school game.

Let's try an make some sense of "Dump's" posts, Huron has had 2 consecutive losing football seasons, What would make Huron football so special, that there's been a mass of transfers 'in', Including a kid, who's family has history of being in Norwalk, and a Dad that names 2 of his sons Joe?. I wonder why these families want to move into this industry depressed area, especially Huron. What makes the Huron school district so attractive ? Especially Huron football, that's still in transition, with not much going for it right now. If I did not live here, Sure as heck wouldn't want to move here. Then, there's a the kid, Sat out LAST YEAR sports for throwing a chair at a teacher, Then THIS YEAR sucker punches an opposing player in a summer basketball game. That's 2 severe incidents in 2 separate years, his behavior has NOT improved. There's no way, He will represent Huron on any playing surface, No matter how good of an athlete he might be. Yes,over the years some things have gotten swept under the rug, But not of this magnitude. I'm sorry dump, I have a hard time believing in your few posts, of how great Huron is gonna be, next year. Our athletics are on a down swing, (we may not even have girls varsity basketball next winter). Some day, we may rise again, But not as quickly as your posting it.

[ Listen here Mark. first of all, Paul named his eldest son Joeseph, and younger one Joe. So they aren't both named Joe. Second of all, give the Barnes boy a chance. I believe he will turn his act around and Make an impact. Third of all, the huron school district is amongst the highest performing academic schools in the area, and one of the nicest commmunites. And as I said, the hinckleys may have some bad blood in Norwalk, hence the move to huron. Like I said. huron will walk to the state championship anchored by that tough offensive line. Just because your son didn't experience any success doesn't mean you need to degrade the future tigers. If it wasn't for these past two grades the tigers wouldn't have this dumpy outlook. Go tigers!

Walk to a state championship ? Hmmm. I have my doubts bout that, Unless there are some changes in Sam's staff, Too much disagreement and turmoil on the Huron sideline between assistants. I felt we under achieved with certain assistant coaches, And conditioning was another problem. Not sure if conditioning will improve of having a woman coaching it, and in a boys locker room, are they really gonna listen to her, Guess we'll find out next summer if it was a good idea, or not. Good luck to your Tigers, Hope they will be competitive, again.

Shelby easily walks away with the Bay division SBC title next year. Return nearly everyone, including a legitimate DI (bigger than MAC schools) QB and a RB that is every bit as good as Emerson Lowe. That's not to mention their receivers who return. No one touches them in the Bay division.

Shelby will have a 6-4 year next year. I see them losing to Edison, huron, Clyde, Perkins.

Again, Good luck to and your '17 Huron Tigers, And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, dump. The NOL and SBC are alike in competition, that's why were joining forces. I agree with king martinez, Shelby will be the favorite in the Bay Conference, May loose to Clyde, not Perkins, those games are crossover, won't count for conference record, dump.

Shelby plays neither Clyde or Perkins in crossover games next year. Instead, they kept their traditional NOL rivals for crossover games. Below is Shelby's schedule for 2017.
Aug 24 @ Madison (Live on WMFD. Richland County Kickoff Classic) Sept 1 Lexington Sept 8 @ Willard Sept 15 Bellevue Sept 22 Norwalk Sept 29 @ Huron Oct 6 @ Edison Oct 13 Port Clinton Oct 20 @ Oak Harbor Oct 27 Vermilion

Wow!! Another breaking development. Jake strayer, former standout for Bellevue has enrolled at huron! Having only played three yeArs of high school football, and still being under the age of 18, has enrolled at huron. This is a major move for the tigers. Strayer brings kicking talent, a rocket arm, and world class speed to huron. I think this may be bigger than hinckley and omert. Huron must be doing some sort of serious, st ignatius type recruiting. How are they bringing in all this world class talent? Anyways, I'm exciting to watch the tigers next year. Look for them to win the league, win the region, and win the state. Hopefully the Hardy boy is filming next season because you better be ready to witness some serious dump action from the tigers.
