Those choosing to suggest Barrett is a poor passer, need to take a better look at his passing stats. I think (someone correct me if I am wrong) going into this game, his completion % was somewhere around 63%, an amazing feat, considering the current status of the receiver corp. Running the ball, he is as tough and reliable as any ball carrier on the team. The O-line can't be compared to last years unit, given the fact this years receivers not finding the open space or separation, putting additional burden of time needed to sustain blocks, amounts to more holding calls. I agree, the Buckeyes secure a final four slot with a win in Columbus, regardless of score. His completion percentage is rather misleading because he isn't accurate with downfield throws. Most his completion are easy swing passes and even that pop pass. For some reason when throwing deep he thinks the receiver has to be 5 yards open. Give your 4/5 star receivers chances on 50/50 balls. Don't disagree with your assessment. His deep throws have largely, been overthrown, or just off the mark.....most of the season. This has been a point of frustration for J.T., the coaches and fans. We all know he has the ability, but for whatever reason, hasn't shown us the J.T. Barrett of last year.....yet Hopefully he will get in sync with his receivers for the big game and the playoffs/bowl season.

Typical JT Barrett Completed pass - Curtis Samuel goes in motion, JT receives the snap and flips it up field 1 yard and Samuel takes it around the corner for 15 yards. A 15 yard completion for JT Barrett. JT Barrett is not a good passer.

News for Rambo. JT Barrett holds EIGHTEEN Ohio State QB records and he has another year of eligibility. Urban, who you want to fire, says THE most important stat for a QB is wins. JT's record as a starting QB is 25-3. He is 2-0 in the rivalry game. Urban says the 2nd most important stat for a QB is TD passes VS INTs JT has 69 TD passes and 18 INTs, 10 of the INTs coming in his Freshman year. 3rd is QB rating. JT has 3 of the 5 top QB ratings in Ohio State history.

Barrett is in the record books as Ohio State's most prolific QB and will own most of the QB records at Ohio State when he finally decides to end his college career. I fully expect to see him behind center, taking snaps in his Buckeye uniform in 2017. I don't expect Tim Beck back as Co-Offensive Co-ordinator. he may have another responsibility to play, it won't be OC.....IMO Only Urban Meyer knows how Ed Warriner is doing in his new function as Co-OC. Those, supposedly in-the-know, say he is in over his head. Whether that is the case, we really have no way of knowing.

The fact that half his career throws are shuffle passes to Curtis Samuel, Dontre Wilson, Braxton Miller, or Jalin Marshall and swing passes to Zeke.
How many passes has JT completed beyond the line of scrimmage? 10%
He's a poor passer

I fully expect to see him behind center, taking snaps in his Buckeye uniform in 2017. Me too, and that's because he's a poor passer and NFL teams want a QB that can actually throw down field. JT knows he can't throw it and that's why he's not turning pro.

JT leads the Big Ten in TD passes this year with 24, with only 4 INTs. THE kind of QB Urban wants running his offense. Fire Urban if you don't like JT or a QB like JT. If you want to hate go back and look at Teboe's completion %s, Urban's most beloved QB. In Urban's offense he would MUCH rather have a very good runner as opposed to a great thrower.
None of you saw or remember's Urban's first press conference after he was hired. When he told us what HIS Spread Offense REALLY was. It IS NOT a passing offense. It is first and foremost a run first offense in the A-gaps. To be successful his offense MUST have a QB that is feared by the opponent's defense as a runner. Run and run and the ball with success to set up play action passes. Are you beginning to understand?

Those, supposedly in-the-know, say he is in over his head. Whether that is the case, we really have no way of knowing. Fire Beck? Urban has a HUGE input in the game plan and play calling. Urban is responsible for the number of QB runs JT gets in a given game. Fire Urban? Ask yourself this question. Why has Joe Burrow made such great strides in his QB play? His 2 years at Ohio State have been under the tutelage of Beck, none under Herman. IMO the biggest problem with Ohio State's CO-offensive coordinators, is Warriner. He has added very little in that regard, but Ohio State lost THE best O-line coach in College football. Urban gave him the CO-coordinator job and pay raise to keep him at Ohio State as opposed to his play calling. The HUGE problem with this move is the play of the O-line. Be honest, would this team be better with Warinner coaching the O-line or Warriner helping send plays down from the press box. Last year under Warriner the O-line had TWO holding penalties for the season, this year they have over 25. Think about this. When did JT have his best games? When he was a green Freshman. 2 weeks before the start of the 2014 season JT was the 3rd string QB. At the time his mind set was that he wouldn't see the field, not even in mop up duty. Two weeks later he was the starting QB, one week before the first game. He was playing on reaction and athletic ability alone. Many pass plays were set up for him to look at only one receiver, if he wasn't open, RUN. As he got more coaching, it was drummed into him that THE worst thing that could come from a pass play was an INT. This took what little "gunslinger" mentality he had. Now when he actually goes through his progressions, unlike when he was a Freshman, he holds the ball unless the receiver is wide open OR throws it to the right of left or to the back shoulder of his receiver to lessen the possibility of an INT and the receivers as a whole are not experienced enough to have a feel for this advanced QB technique. If you were REALLY paying attention in the MSU game you would have seen at least twice when the receiver wasn't looking for the pass to be thrown to his right or left instead of right too him. Because JT saw a DB near one side of the receiver knowing it would increase the possibility of an INT to throw it right to the receivers numbers he would throw it to the opposite side of where the DB was. The receiver didn't feel that DB to his one side therefore wasn't looking for the ball to be throw to his opposite shoulder. There were conversations between JT and the WR when he got back to the huddle.

The only reason J.T. got his freshman shot, Braxton was injured. Braxton was miles ahead of Barrett, but J.T. made the best of his opportunity, with his limited knowledge of the offense.
Urban has stated a several times the past couple weeks, that the OL line is progressing and not the big issue it once was. The holding calls are more the result of the receivers not playing to potential. The holding calls are an indirect result of expecting the OL to over-sustain their blocking. As the receiving corps matures and improves, the holding calls will wane and the whole offense will be more effective.

WF has convinced me, JT Barrett is a great passer. Can't wait to see him go #1 in the draft, as WF says he throws it where it should be and all his faults are actually from playing with bad WRs and a bad Oline.

Don't lie, never said JT was a "great passer". If you could read, All I've done is post his stats and the number of Ohio State records he holds AND that he IS the type of QB Urban most desires. Urban didn't recruit Braxton, he fell into Urban's lap. Urban didn't recruit Cardale, Tressel did. Urban would NEVER recruit a QB like Cardale. He would be the square peg in the round hole of Urban's offense. JT was THE first QB that Urban recruited for his offense at Ohio State. If you don't like JT or another QB like him, fire Urban.
You make it very clear that you know very little about QB play. Become learned

Mike Weber, who Mickey Marotti calls "Fat Mike" due to him weighing 230 when he showed up at OSU as a Freshman. Marotti paired him in a group with JT Barrret during this summer's workouts. Marotti told JT, "We're only going to be as good as "Fat Mike" is going to be." Weber's turning point came one day, after Weber finished a "punishment" workout. JT saw Weber bent over on the verge of giving up. JT confronted him, Weber stepped into JT and they almost came to blows. JT says, "I attacked him verbally in a moment of weakness and delivered a clear message." JT told him, "This is SO much bigger than you. Do you want to be our running back?? WOW!
That's why JT is the OSU QB. A few more completions doesn't replace a slimmer focused Mike Weber.
