Michigan currently has the #8 ranked class in the 247 composite rankings. The class currently consists of
4* QB- Dylan McCaffrey 4* DE- Luiji Vilain 4* LB- Josh Ross 4* OL- Kai-Leon Herbert 4* S- Jaylen Kelly-Powell 4* RB- O'Maury Samuels 4* DT- Donovon Jeter 4* DE- Cory Malone-Hatcher 4* RB- Aj Dillon 4* DT/DE- James Hudson 4* CB- Benjamin St.Juste 4* OL- Jaraymond Hall 3* S- Jamarick Woods 3* WR- Brad Hawkins- 2016 recruit who went to prep school 3* OL- Andrew Stueber 3* OL- Joel Honigford 3* DT- Phillip Paea 3* LB- Ben Mason 3* RB- Kurt Taylor 3* DE- Kwity Paye
Michigan is expected to sign 30-32 in this class. Some kids I expect Michigan to land at this point in time.
5* WR Donovon Peoples-Jones 5* OT Isaiah Wilson 4* DT Aubrey Solomon 4* OL Cesar Ruiz 4* LB Drew Singleton 4* WR Nico Collins 4* DB Ambry Thomas 4* LB Jordan Anthony
Some possibilities
5* RB Najee Harris- A flip from Bama is a real possibility. He took an unofficial earlier this year and has his official scheduled for Dec 10th. 4* DT Jay Tufele- Michigan's strong here but there's a long way to go 4* LB Willie Gay- Michigan leads but academic issues could be a problem 3* DT Rutger Reitmeir- Oregon commit that has blown up recently. 3* FB Tory Carter- LSU commit but visit a week ago.
Some thoughts
1. Harbaugh has gone about aggressively upgrading the slow unathletic linebacker corp that Hoke left him. Soon the decade of lead foot linebackers like Joe Bolden will be a distant painful memory.
2. If everything plays out close to the way it's expected. Michigan will have around 10 top 100 players nationally and a top 5 recruiting class. It's not OSU's monster class but it's a great class in year two for Harbaugh.
3. Michigan reemerged in Ohio this year with 4* DE/DT James Hudson and 3* OL Joel Honigford. Despite the reemergence it's pretty clear that Harbaugh is not prioritizing Ohio and I don't blame him.

Big visit weekend for Michigan on tap.
5* RB Najee Harris #1 RB and player in the country 5* WR Donovon Peoples-Jones- #1 WR in the country 4* CB Ambry Thomas 4* LB Drew Singleton 4* DE Deron Irving-Bey 4* S Paris Ford 3* CB Donovon Johnson
Donovon Johnson is an interesting case. He's a under sized speed demon ( 4.35 40 at the opening). I dont know if Michigan has a spot for him but I'd sure love to add a speed demon to the roster and then figure it out later.

you were untruthful about Pepper's speed. What the hell does Peppers have to do with Donovon Johnson? The answer is not a damn thing Willard. If you think I'm making numbers up here is the link to the opening finals where he clocked a 4.35 forty. If you have a problem with the results take it up with the kind folks at Nike who run the event. You can also look up some of your buckeye commits including J.K. Dobbins who turned in a blazing forty time as well.

does UM have a blue-chip QB coming down the pipes? they had a nice string of pocket passers up until Mallet transferred, that was when they were at their best

He's the #4 pro style QB in the country and the #51 player over all. His dad is Ed McCaffrey the former all pro WR for the bronco's and his brother is Christian McCaffrey. Last year we took Brandon Peters who was a top 10 pro style QB. He red shirted this year but he looked pretty good in the spring game and in the spring practice I visited. It's kind of touch and go at QB until Peters or McCaffrey is ready. Luckily Harbaugh managed to get Rudock and turned Speight into a serviceable QB to buy time during the transition. For as good a job as Hoke did recruiting defense he did equally as bad recruiting for offense. It's going to be an on going process as Hoke's players leave and Harbaugh's players arrive and mature.

Michigan gets 4* CB Ambry Thomas tonight. Ambry is the #102 player in the country and the #11 CB according to the composite rankings. This is a big time get for Michigan for instate recruiting purposes. Ambry was a long time sparty lock and goes to a pro sparty school. For Harbaugh and Wheatley to pull him is a huge blow to sparty.
and yes Torch, Easy Ed gets it done. There's another McCaffery on the way too.

A busy week for Michigan on the trail. Picking up commitments from
5* WR Donovon Peoples-Jones. The #1 WR in the country should make an instant impact from day one. I tip my hat to Urban though for risking life and limb to make a last minute in home prior to the dead period. Would have made for an epic story if he had been able to pull DPJ away but he failed.
4* C Cesar Ruiz. The #1 center in the country will compete from day one on a thin OL.
4* WR Tarik Black- #17 WR and # 124th ranked player nationally. A tall (6'4) receiver with really good ball skill's and route running skills. Lack of depth at receiver will likely help get Black on the field this fall.
4* DE/DT Deron Irving-Bey. Bey is the 270th ranked player in the country and the 9th ranked strong side defensive end. A really raw player with a lot of room for development. A very likely red shirt candidate
Other thoughts.
1. Losing Isaiah Wilson to Georgia at the last minute sucked. Kid has mammoth potential but he's also very very raw and plays very weak competition. He's not a kid who's ready on day one but when he is ready he could be an all-american.

Good to see the Big Ten is recruiting toe to toe with all the power five conferences. Nationwide recognition and respect is fast being restored.

The Big 10 had better show up big in the bowls if they want this trend to continue. Nothing is official until signing day. If we **** down our legs against our power 5 opponents then none of the regular season stuff matters perception wise.

Michigan lands 4* LB Jordan Anthony out of IMG in Florida. Anthony is the 107th ranked player in the country and the 6th ranked outside line backer. He's a smooth athletic linebacker who can move sideline to sideline. Anthony along with Josh Ross and likely Drew Singleton will complete the LB make over. It'll be nice to not have lead foot linebackers anymore.

Michigan finishes up commitmas by landing 4* LB Drew Singleton out of New Jersey. Singleton is the 66th ranked player in the country and the third ranked outside linebacker. This is a big time get for Michigan and brings the class total up to 26.

Large recruiting class, but they are losing something like 47 players from this years team? Gonna be a pretty green team. We'll see if he fares as well as Urban has this year with only 6 returning starters and the youngest team in major college football.

As signing day rolls around these are the realistic target's on the board for Michigan.
5* DT Aubrey Solomon 4* WR Oliver Martin 4* LB Willie Gay 4* WR Nico Collins 3* OT Mekhi Becton
Obviously Solomon is the big prize. He's the #2 DT in the country and Michigan needs defensive tackles badly. Michigan is sitting strong here but he's a southern boy and Bama is pushing hard. We may offer a educational trip to Rome but we can't offer sack's of cash and sports car's like Bama.
I'd be happy with either Nico Collins or Oliver Martin because each has a skill set the current roster does not have. Collins is a 6'4 go up and get it deep ball and red zone threat. Martin is a slot receiver with really good athleticism, great hands and a knack for getting open.
Willie Gay would be a great addition at a position of luxury.

I don't see Solomon anywhere but Bama. Nice recruiting class. Most recruiting guru's see him at Michigan. The big dogs at 24/7 are all crystal balling him to Michigan. His family is pro Michigan and his high school coach is very pro Michigan. We can win this one but when Bama is involved you don't exhale until the LOI is signed and delivered.

Michigan finishes with a class of 30 that’s not just large but exceptionally deep in talent. The class includes two five star recruits (Peoples-Jones and Solomon) and nineteen four star recruits. The class also follows Harbaugh’s pattern of recruiting nationally and internationally after taking care of the home.
5* WR Donovon Peoples-Jones 5* DT Aubrey Solomon 4* OC Cesar Ruiz 4* OT Chuck Filiaga 4* DE Luiji Vilain 4* WR Nico Collins 4* WR Tarik Black 4* WR Oliver Martin 4* LB Josh Ross 4* LB Drew Singleton 4* LB Jordan Anthony 4* CB Ben St.Juste 4* DT James Hudson 4* DT Donovon Jeter 4* DE Cory Malone-Hatcher 4* DT Deron Irving-Bey 4* S Jaylen Kelly-Powell 4* RB O'Maury Samuels 4* QB Dylan McCaffery 4* OT Jaraymond Hall 4* CB Ambry Thomas 3* DT Phillip Paea 3* S J'marick Woods 3* OT Andrew Stueber 3* OT Joel Honigford 3* RB Kurt Taylor 3* DE Kwity Paye 3* LB Ben Mason 3* ATH Brad Hawkins 2* P Brad Robbins

The only thing that matters is that his LOI promptly arrived in Ann Arbor. Pulling a 5* out of the deep south when Bama want's him is a tough pull. A helluva job by Chris Partridge and Jim Harbaugh.

All those highly rated recruiting classes couldn't eek out a touchdown against a Clemson team who's classes average being around a lowly 10th in the country. Stars are important but having the most isn't necessarily the most important. IMO if you consistently average being in the top 15-20 recruiting classes. Your talent level should be good enough to compete for a national title.

Meanwhile to start the 2019 class. Michigan has commits from
5* DE Chris Hinton- # 15 player nationally 4* DE Stephen Harron- #31 player nationally 4* OG Nolan Rumler- # 87 player nationally 4* LB Charles Thomas
When all is said and done. This should be a top 5 class.

Ohio State haters forget they were the youngest team in the country last year. They were not supposed to be a Final Four team. They were supposed to lose to Oklahoma and U of M. Due to their inexperience, their O-line and WR groups were not Final Four caliber. They were not in the same class as Bama or Clemson. Has a team as young as Ohio State ever finished the regular season as the #4 team in the country?
More 5 star players become NFL players, than 4 or 3 Stars. At Top Ten programs probably 25% of 4 Star players never become starters. It's rare for a 3 Star player to become a starter at a Top Ten Program. You would be crazy not to get as many 5 Star players as possible. There aren't that many of them. The REAL difference comes with getting the correct 4 Star players for your program. Also, it's become more obvious to me that 4 Star players that are good students should be a priority. Another priority is getting the fastest of the 4 Star players. You can't teach speed.
