Kinda sloppy game for Ontario. Lots of turnovers. Mansfield fielded some great shooters who kept them in the game.
By the second half of the game, the offence started firing better and Todd dominated with free throws and skills on the floor.

Ontario didn't play well in the first 3 quarters, only scoring 30 points. They had a bunch of unforced TOs. Only made 1 3-pointer in the entire game. Shot terrible at the foul line making like 1 out 10 in the first 3 quarters. Then Senior made the mistake of starting to foul Jackson Todd. He made like 13 of 14 in the 4th and 3 OTs finishing with 35 of Ontario's 68. It was a game of attrition. It was obvious Senior was really tired after the 2nd OT, they just went through the motions in their half court offense and stopped attacking the basket. Ontario outscoring Senior 8-0 in the 3rd OT.
Before this murderous 4 games to open the season, I felt this would be the easiest of the 4 games. St.Petes tomorrow night will be more difficult.
Ontario won the JV game 47-26, looking much more athletic than the Senior JVs.
OH, BTW, Ontario with a huge advantage in coaching in both games. Joe Balogh now with 517 wins

Streaks did not shoot well last night and Ashland is a solid team. They have good size and will win a lot of games this year. Sandusky had a shot but Ashland outplayed them last night.

Huron 70 Norwalk 67 Final
Norwalk's #34, had 36 points, What a great player. What a fun game to watch. Huron up early by a few, Then Norwalk lead most of the game, as many as 10, numerous times. Then back and forth, until Huron scored the last 5 of the game ( a 3 and 2 foul shots).

Ontario-67 St.Petes-60 final St.Pete's Campbell hits a 25 footer at the buzzer to make him higher scorer for the game with 26. Don't know how badly St.Pete's PG Cobb was injured at the end of the 3rd, but it looked like it might have been an achilles. That was the end of game for St. Petes, could be the end of their quest for a trip to the Final 4. Last night Jackson Todd had 35, tonight he got his second foul in the 1st quarter and didn't play the rest of the first half and finished with 11 tonight. Ontario's 2 freshman played better in their 2nd game, I expect that to continue.

Let's hope, he was holding his Achilles, writhing in pain and was carried off the court. At the end of the 4th he was sitting at the end of the bench still in pain.

I never understood why high school coaches think they have to sit a player the entire first half after pickup by up 2 fouls. You need to learn and be coached how to play without fouling

You don't understand a coach who has 518 wins???
If a coach has a talented enough bench that he trusts, then why not? Balogh said after the game, playing a physical triple OT game the night before and riding the hot hand J.Todd had in that game, if he sat him the balance of first half, he would have one well rested player for the 2nd half.
Also, J.Todd a couple of inches shorter, had the job of defending Campbell, a 6-4 player with as much game as anyone in the area. Ontario's 6-4 freshman guard/forward did a good job of holding down Campbell the rest of the 1st half. Nothing could stop Campbell in the 2nd half!
Now, if the game had gotten out of hand in the 1st half, Joe might have changed his mind. But the game was within a basket, give or take, in the 1st half. No need to play J.Todd.

I don't give a crap how many wins someone has. Hell if you're at the same place 40 years I'd hope you have a few wins under your belt. My point was a philosophical one that for whatever reason coaches sit their players with 2 fouls. Let your best players play

You don't care if your head coach has 500 losses?
Since you are not knowledgeable, allow me to educate you. This is the 32nd year.
SO, your philosophy is to continue to play your players until they foul out regardless of how many fouls they have, regardless of what quarter it is and regardless of what the score is?
What if it is such that your best players don't have to play 30-32 minutes every game and still win contested games? Even if they have zero fouls?
