Just a thread for any Reds fans out there. Have an Indians one so why not a Reds one. Reds have a lot of young tallent. Could be good in the coming years. Just post thoughts or anything out there lol.

As a lifelong Reds fan it pains me to say this but the Reds missed their window a couple of years ago and won't be able to seriously retool until they are out from underneath Votto's contract and to a lesser extent Phillips. After spending the money to resign Votto and get some pieces(Latos) their budget now seems to have shrunk below that of the tribe.

at least Votto is productive, the real bear for Cincy is the Homer Bailey deal, which was baffling at the time and even more baffling now...I agree, they have some interesting pieces in the minors but they mis-timed their trade of Chapman, and also Todd Frazier, they should have gotten better returns on both imho

I'm glad we locked votto up. Hopefully get Phillips and cozart outta there. Maybe Bailey can come back strong this year. Starting pitching isn't to bad they should be a year better. The bullpen should be a little better but not to much. Should keep Amir garret up from AAA. Jose peraza has to be an every day starter, and possibly the guy got from Bruce trade. Both could be all stars one day peraza more favorable forsure. But there is some young pieces as well as our #2 draft pick who could see mid summer.

And in 3 team trade got schebler and peraza for Frazier. Peraza will be a better hitter then Frazier so I really liked that deal. Frazier hits home runs but that's about it.

Peraza will be a .290 OBP player in a league loaded with premier 2nd basemen. He might steal 2nd when he is on first but he will never be on first.
Jesse Winker and Nick Senzel look like legit prospects, (Senzel is a monster imho) but I'm not sold on Cincy's minor league pitching prospects.
It's like this for the Reds: The Yankees got Gleyber Torres and Billy McKinney for Aroldis Chapman, they would probably be #1 and #6 prospects for Cincy.
Cincy received RHP Rookie Davis, 3rd baseman Eric Jagielo, 2nd baseman Tony Renda and RHP Caleb Cotham for Aroldis Chapman. That's #8, #25, and unranked on Cincy's top-30 prospect list. Selling low.

I agree Chapman trade was pretty bad. Minor league pitching I like Amir Garrett and that's about it.

Before the trade they were still still dealing with the domestic violence allegations and fallout which most likely dropped his value. In the deals made for him since then the punishment had been handed out and served.

In the deals made for him since then the punishment had been handed out and served. True, but they had a chance to deal him at the winter meetings before the 2016 season started and they choked. Also had a chance to deal him before the trade deadline in 2015.

If I recall correctly they were in negotiations with the Dodgers during the winter meetings and that's when the whole domestic violence incident broke. The spin that ESPN gave it was that the Dodgers and other interested parties backed off and were waiting to see what the full situation was. I agree that what they got for him was disappointing at best, but that's what I've come to expect from Cincy lately. This was actually the first year in probably the last 15 that I didn't even bother to attend one of their games.

I go to more Reds games than Indians games, it's a better drive for me and a better ball park. They don't have a lot of exciting parts atm tho.

Votto and peraza will be the most exciting. I go to a few games a year usually once a month. Not sure if Duvall can hit as many homers but hopefully picks up the average.

I've personally always preferred GAP to the Jake. Most people think I'm nuts though.

Reds looking to move on from Phillips, but he vetos any trade. He's holding the club back a lot from what's to come. He might be sitting the pine a lot.

When they inked his last deal they knew this could potentially happen. They will only move him in a trade deadline deal to a top contender. I can't see him going anywhere willingly otherwise.

Yeah the no trade clause sucks. They're still trying to work it out with braves tho. He's gonna sit a lot and be a bench player if he isn't moved. Herrara and peraza have to play.

I don't think it's a no trade clause. In baseball don't you have the right to veto trades once you reach a certain number of years in the league and with the same team? I could be thinking of a different sport though.

Reds working into the late night. Is believed to be Brandon Phillips will accept trade to the braves. But you never know with him.

The bigger question is what does Atlanta have that we want.

They have some good prospects. We don't want much nor will we get much for Phillips. He will be a bench player once they get there starter back in 5 months. We just have to get rid of him to get our MLB ready middle infielders in there. Reds will take what they can get

Great they got the deal done. They received essentially nothing in return and STILL agreed to pay roughly 12 million of his salary.

Reds sweep pirates. 7-2 on young season. Pitching is going excellent. Hopefully continue and prove some people wrong.

Reds went into a two week slump after their initial hot start, but now they're on another hot streak and are back in first place after a sweep of the Giants

Amir Garrett, best pitcher for reds this season. Sent to triple- A. I was not agreeing with it at first, but it makes sense. Limits his innings. More service time in the end. Cause if want him pitching in September at all he has to slow way down.
